Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

He even sang at FMU once. This song gets to me. So emotional and scary, knowing his ultimate fate. Incredible, incredible performance. A unique song, too. Unlike anything I've heard.             thanks for being here. hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend. always remember ...  0:57:02 (Pop‑up)
Thanks for checking out this episode of The Dusty Show. It probably contained a little more "hockey talk" than many of you might have wanted. I didn't intend to do a hockey show. I just walked down to Madison Square Gardemn and it was happening, so I tried to tap into it. I've done it b4 and not that long ago, so the results were less than stellar in many of your eyes, I'm sure.

I've said this before, but, because I am working a day job, it's difficult to make the time for Dusty that I used to when I was unemployed. I used to spend all week on shows, painstakingly editing down 3-hours of interviews. I do miss that, actually, Now, my process is usually recording interviews on Monday night, editing on Tuesday night, throwing it together on Weds night, and playing it Thursday night, while trying to have a life. I'm not complaining, but I do miss the hyper-edited shows of the past.

I've also been downloading music for the show quite often, and usually the night before broadcast. This allows me to select almost any song I want and not have to dog through all my old records. Still, I notice I've been re-living my 90's rocker days a bit in my choices. I like them, but they may be too pedestrian for FMU, then again, it is free-form, so it should be OK.

Diminishing returns. Yes. They tell us not to pay too much attention to the AccuPlaylist. Still, I do sometimes check the comment count. It is almost always higher if I go "live." The pre-recorded shows attract less response and, I get it. I do. Politics and protests also tend to diminish audiences, and sports is pretty much an audience destroyer. So ... this weeks show had a pretty weak response.

I hope I am not too boring with my questions. They do get redundant, but they feel natural when I ask them. Perhaps I am getting old, as well, and lack a bit of vibrance. I need to do more interviews and filter them out, for only the best responses, but then again, time is ALWAYS an issue. SO, I must say THANK YOU for hanging in there and listening. I bore myslef sometimes. Maybe I phone it in to a degree, though it is ALWAYS important to me, and I suffer the shows which fall short of the mark. The good news is ... next week ... another chance to do something good. I hope you will keep tuning in. Write and give me your thoughts whenever you feel inclined. I can use the listener feedback, although, invariably you always tell me different things.

Until next time, take care everyone. Much love to you. Always remember Jeff Buckley and BB King.

Yo Clay! Sorry I've been MIA. Missed ya.

I don't know a lick about hockey either. Not a lot of frozen ponds in California.

  6:12pm Oscar:

Props to Clay for going outside of him element inviewing the hockey fans. Certainly a far cry from shooting the breeze with the taco bell drive through girl in iowa.

My Dusty show is mostly off. My iPhone app keeps disconnecting. And just when Aldo Nova is on ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember that Aldo Nova song. What's up, hockey fans?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm common:

I get envious of tourists sometimes when I see them here. I can't imagine coming to NYC as an adult and seeing it all for the first time.

Great Harry track, Clay!

Avatar 6:21pm Danne D:

Hrm, not sure the first time I ever was in New York City - gonna guess it was a trip to the Bronx Zoo in like 2nd grade.
Avatar 6:22pm Slick Goldtooth:

My Liverpudlian friend first visited NYC last December at age 35, he was far from impressed and had his hopes up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Carmichael:

Clay, are you channeling Max Headroom?

I bet this guy had a $900 suit on that Clay was just interviewing

The Beatles are timeless! WTF?
Avatar 6:24pm Clay Pigeon:

Man, I think I left out a critical Romney sample. :-( i dislike that.
Avatar 6:26pm Danne D:

Oh, Clay - most of the people there for the Rangers fans are in suits.
Avatar 6:26pm Danne D:

No worries Clay :) Great show - even with all the Rangers content ;)
Avatar 6:28pm Danne D:

Rangers forced the original New York NHL team out of the business (The Americans).
Avatar 6:29pm Danne D:

Btw @Clay part of the function of the Rangers fan base having a lot of suits is that the tickets are expensive. And many work on Wall Street.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm SeanG:

i remember these dudes from Florida
Avatar 6:30pm Clay Pigeon:

good point, danne. i find myself wishing i had a jersey and a ticket. energy! sean ... they were from miami, i think
Avatar 6:31pm northguineahills:

My brothers don't listen to music, only sports radio. Their wives listen to crappy pop-country or pop-pop. I did get them on the last one's wedding w/ cumbia-bass, no complaints.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm common:

i also remember this saigon kick tune coming out of my sister's bedroom. hee.
Avatar 6:32pm Danne D:

SportsyClay :)
Avatar 6:32pm BriJet:

Deflategate is a great distraction for America, but on the other hand my Colts lost to the Patriots that game so bleh! >:(
Avatar 6:33pm Danne D:

My Devils season tickets cost me about $30/game. A not inconsiderate some but manageable. And they threw in a season-ticket tenure jersey last year :)
Avatar 6:34pm Danne D:

Cheapest Game 5 Seat on SeatGeek for the Rangers is $254/each.
Avatar 6:35pm Danne D:

(I recall the tix I got for Devils in conference finals three years ago were about $100)
Avatar 6:35pm Slick Goldtooth:

I'm not too keen on football played with hands, but hot damn I had no idea how expensive NFL tickets are, practically gotta take out a mortgage for nosebleeds
Avatar 6:35pm Polyus:

If anyone is going to rep for this particular Crue record, it's Clay.
Avatar 6:36pm Danne D:

The thing that gets me is these places that sell seat licenses to their season ticketholders. I mean that's some balls doing that. Pay us for the right to buy a ticket. SMH
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm common:

exactly, polyus.
Avatar 6:37pm northguineahills:

Cool, on getting the tenure jersey, Danne D. (I'm one of those guys who's wife and friends can't believe is a sports nut).
  6:38pm BriJet:

@Danne D: Sir, pipe down! That's an expensive habit you have. ;)
Avatar 6:39pm northguineahills:

My bros got Lightning-Rangers tix at Tampa for $85, now they're going more then 6x that.
Avatar 6:41pm Slick Goldtooth:

Clay are you a Mad Men fan? I feel like if you dig a period drama like Downton you could get into it, if you aren't already.
Avatar 6:42pm Clay Pigeon:

Slick, I probably could. I pick a couple to watch and ignore the rest because of the time they take to watch. Downton, GoT ... a little Turn lately. We saw Cinderella at the theatre. It was good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Bas NL:

I've never visited NYC; but your interviews bring it home Clay!
  6:42pm BriJet:

Wow love this guy! Also admire Malcolm X!
Avatar 6:43pm glenn:

naw. youtube bobby orr. greatest hockey player ever.
Avatar 6:43pm Clay Pigeon:

ty bas!
Avatar 6:43pm Clay Pigeon:

Hi BriJet!
Avatar 6:43pm Danne D:

It's around playoff time that getting season tickets pays off. Usually tickets for a Stanley Cup Finals game will scalp for like 4 times the face amount.

I remember when the Devils clinched their first Cup in '95 - people were paying the same amount that all of my playoff tickets costs just get into that one game.
Avatar 6:43pm Clay Pigeon:

glenn, man. nice surprise.
Avatar 6:44pm Danne D:

Bas you have to come out this way! I need to buy you a taylor ham sandwich in NJ :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Fuzzy:

"Hope and Change": Won't Get Fooled Again!
Avatar 6:45pm Danne D:

I hate him for the Mickey Mouse comment but Gretzky was the best I ever saw. Mario should have been the best ever. Rocket Richard was the best I never saw :)
  6:45pm BriJet:

Hi Clay Pigeon!!!

Womankind will have to clean up mankind's mess yet again! ;)
Avatar 6:45pm glenn:

no surprise. i listen almost every week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Bas NL:

Thanks Danne D! NYC/NJ is high on the list ;)
Avatar 6:45pm Clay Pigeon:

gordie howe! right?
  6:46pm BriJet:

@Fuzzy haha!
Avatar 6:46pm glenn:

i think......the rocket retired in 1960, the year i was born.
  6:46pm kppk:

Loved the sirens going on in the background during this guy's dark passages...
Avatar 6:47pm glenn:

gordie was pretty great, for many many many many many years.
  6:48pm arrow apple:

who started the curved stick?
  6:48pm JakeGould:

I never got into Mad Men or any other long-form dramas after the Sopranos since I felt I wasted too much time caring about something like that. Give me 2 hours and a Scorsese film and I get the same feeling in less time with more art. Yeah, I am a snoot that way.
  6:49pm arrow apple:

who started the curved stick?
  6:49pm Tim in VT:

Sound unemployable
Avatar 6:49pm glenn:

first curved stick, i think was bernie geoffrion, if memory serves.
  6:49pm BriJet:

  6:49pm JakeGould:

That said, I am watching all 6 seasons of “Sanford and Son” in order since I love that show, each episode is about 20 minutes and it’s easy to deal with on commutes.
  6:51pm JakeGould:

Elton John is great!
Avatar 6:53pm northguineahills:

It took me until my late 30s before I appreciated Sir Elton.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm melinda:

Never too late to appreciate Elton John!
  6:54pm JakeGould:

Elton John and Rod Stewart remind me of the boardwalk and beach in Coney Island.
Avatar 6:55pm BriJet:

Great interviews!!!
  6:56pm arrow apple:

You may be right. Gordie used the slap shot. I would like to see Orr's sized pads on today's players. Lighter and even more faster, with respect for the sword.
6:57pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Listening to this fantastic show always leaves me feeling elevated emotionally!
  6:57pm V Priceless:

Thanx Clay!
  6:58pm arrow apple:

Did I mention less concussions? Ask Stall (NYR)
  7:00pm James:

Fantastic show all around tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Fuzzy:

Nice outro! Thanks again Clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Bas NL:

Thanks Clay!
  10:16am Steve:

Thanks for playing Harry Chapin's W.O.L.D., Clay ! You rarely hear Harry on the radio these days.
