Options Brian Turner: Playlist from May 19, 2015 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Ahoy wild animals and beasts of the world wide web!
Avatar 3:06pm Lopez:

I like how there's no option to favorite Gaute Granli. Catch it now or forget it ever happened
  3:08pm r i s k y:

Brian that Uniform show was absolutely arresting, it really made my bummer of a summer do a complete 180 degree turn.

Obnox sounded and played great too.
Can't thank you enough for all the damage.
Avatar 3:09pm Nucosme:

hi hi. Been awhile since I been here.
Avatar 3:09pm Cheri Pi:

Innit to winnit. Hey it's THEE song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm steve:

i agree risky, great times at Monty Hall Saturday

Avatar 3:14pm Cheri Pi:

e'ry thing is comng up Slugga this year, may be my favorite band of 2015.
Avatar 3:14pm d¢ pät:

And this is great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Stevel:

Now on the lookout for Slugga in my friendly neighborhood scuz club.
Avatar 3:15pm Brian Turner:

Thanks Risky, you weren't the guy who thanked me for the show in lieu of his going to find a bag of coke were you?
Avatar 3:16pm Nucosme:

There's still real coke post 80s?
Avatar 3:17pm Polyus:

Man I would love to see Obnox again - they played to like three of us (plus the opening bands) last time, so Bim is probably not in a hurry to get back here.
Avatar 3:21pm Cheri Pi:

this is pretty rulio

If the Kraken did the crime, the Kraken should do the time.
Avatar 3:26pm JakeGould:

@risky: The summer solstice is June 21st. This is the spring.
Avatar 3:26pm Cheri Pi:

ruhh roh, someone woke up Phil phucking Collins..
Avatar 3:28pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Boy do I know when to enter a room.
Avatar 3:28pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...and I do.
  3:29pm r i s k y:

At Brian that was I indeed. Uniform was all I could handle for one night haha!

Really happy to finally cop that 12" and score some pins, nice dudes.

Probably my favorite group going right now.
Avatar 3:29pm Cheri Pi:

just keep talking Phil...

I'm trying to get some work done here Phil Fucking Collins
Swag For Life Member 3:31pm S from I:

This set is making me giddy.
Avatar 3:31pm Nucosme:

Speaking of interviews...Anyone listen to the David Byrne one on WTF podcast? Thoughts?
Avatar 3:35pm d¢ pät:

anybody have snacks?
  3:36pm r i s k y:

@JakeGould it's whatever season I want it to be.
Avatar 3:36pm d¢ pät:

..cuz I need snacks...
Avatar 3:37pm Lopez:

Nucosme - I haven't yet but would like to. Unfortunately I'm binge-watching all the Rockford Files episodes on Netflix so real culture will have to wait.
dc pat - yes, Fritos corn chips original, Slim Jims, and Lik-M-Aid
Avatar 3:37pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@DCP: Got an old banana & pair of Excedrin™ here -- You got medium sized moving boxes? Willing to deal here.
Avatar 3:39pm Nucosme:

@Lopez: It's pretty great car/bus/subway material Listened to it throughout my shift yesterday.
  3:40pm r i s k y:

@Brian I'm sorry if I hugged/touched or embraced you after the show. I was very emotional after that shitshow too place, and drunk as nuts.
Avatar 3:40pm JakeGould:

@Nucosme: I haven’t but will since that sounds interesting. Stopped listening to the WTF podcast eons ago when I became sick of Maron ragging on ex-girlfriends/partners as a regular schtick. Don’t care what he says about his therapy; that guy is an angry bitter man.
Avatar 3:40pm Cheri Pi:

whoa he certainly left his mark on Shriekback
Avatar 3:42pm Nucosme:

@JakeGould: yeah, I'm pretty selective with the guests of his that I listen to. I don't listen to his monologues especially, but he's gotten quite good at interviewing subjects that he has an authentic appreciation for. Byrne falls into that category.
Avatar 3:43pm Lopez:

The Coneheads are as advertised!
Avatar 3:45pm JakeGould:

In Bloom!
  3:47pm marc:

What Nirvana Album is this song from?
  3:50pm Art Damage:

Love this Punk/Prog/Cluster-F!
Avatar 3:50pm JakeGould:

46-25666 = “In Bloom” off of “Nevermind.”

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm common:

hey cheri!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm ikє:

Prob. not an issue during the day, but just in case: Don't get the great Cheri Pi confused w/regular, pi-less Cheri. They are... uh... more than slightly different.
Avatar 4:18pm Cheri Pi:

Dig that Death Alley, looks like the album was just released today. A trip to my record monger is in the cards.
Avatar 4:19pm Cheri Pi:

Ike are you something different with your "e" these days?
Avatar 4:20pm d¢ pät:

I thought I saw Pi-less Cheri at one point on some comments. I think we ought to have her checked out...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm ℰ Ī Ҡ:

Yeah, I don't remember where on the Intertubes I found that "є" but I indulged in the simple magic of copy-and-paste and browser memory. I keep changing it around for no real reason.
Avatar 4:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Are we all up on our shots, here?
Avatar 4:22pm Cheri Pi:

it must be old school Cheri, I remember her from the board before clicky-star times.
Avatar 4:22pm Cheri Pi:

I could probably use a hoof and mouth vaccine
Avatar 4:23pm northguineahills:

Well, Hell Garbage sounds much better then Garbage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm common:

Brian is so chilled out, it's kinda rad, doesn't everyone agree?

He's sooooo chill. Just really chiiiiiill, don't you guys agree?
Avatar 4:31pm Brian Turner:

I'm going to scream an entire Alan Watts record just for you Risky
Avatar 4:33pm Polyus:

The Fury Road guitar guy was so awesomely ridiculous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Stanley:

Digging this psyche-sax action.
Avatar 4:36pm Lopez:

My favorite part of the Mad Max franchise was when Wez from Road Warrior had a cameo at the house party in Weird Science.
(great Writhing Squares jam by the way)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm common:

man, i love swell maps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Carmichael:

OK ok, I have decided to rock. Right here in my office.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not in the bath anymore & not lurking. Saying rather that if WFMU & this program did not exist we would have to invent them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Greg from Bloomfield:

That name just made LOL...
  5:00pm Dean:

Okay, my favorite band name of late, prompted by this Mars-ish band's name: Peter O'Toole Lending Library.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Stevel:

Why does knowing that a band named Whitney Houston's Crypt exists fill me with happiness? (I don't care why. It just does.)

Great show on a meh afternoon. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Carmichael:

One of my all-time favorite band names: Kathleen Turner Overdrive.
  5:13pm Dean:

Not to be confused with Neil Simon's Script or Whitney Houston Astrodome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Lewis:

Alan Watts...
Avatar 5:20pm Mailman Tom:

Can someone please tell me how to get to Monty Hall from Manhattan, using public transportation?
Avatar 5:20pm Lopez:

I can't believe my ears. All my chakras just opened fully and my eagle spirit is currently soaring.
  5:21pm Dean:

Sitting here in Berkeley, 2015, not far from where Alan Watts broadcast on KPFA decades ago, I wonder, "What rain?" That's not a koan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Greg from Bloomfield:

@Mailman Tom: Monty Hall is mere blocks from the Exchange Place and Grove St PATH stations.
  5:23pm Marcel M:

Hello gang
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Lewis:

@Mailman Tom - as I recall it is as simple as walking straight ahead as you come out of exchange place, a couple of blocks… on the the left...
  5:29pm Marcel M:

@mailman tom: its also right next to a post office so your spidey sense should tingle.
Avatar 5:29pm Ryab:

Shit & Shine is so good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Good call, Marcel!
Avatar 5:32pm Lopez:

SSG to fully knock this show outta tha park
Avatar 5:35pm Nucosme:

nice. full blown Mexican music. As a fellow Mexican I applaud LOL. Faux Mexican. Real Hispanic :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Carmichael:

This dude is annoying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
