Avatar 9:41am d¢ pät:

I don't know anything about Neurosis but that guitarist from Neurosis sounded pretty good this morning.

Avatar 10:06am Chris M.:

@d¢ pät: yeah reissue
@efd: i salute you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am Marcel M:

Morning Chris and friends

Ah! One of my favorite paintings. I got to go to the Gustave Moreau museum in Paris last year. It is in his old studio/apartment that has basically been preserved from when he lived there. It was incredible. The most famous version of L'Apparition is in a "private room" at The Louvre, and they wouldn't pull it out for me. One needs to make an appointment in advanced apparently...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am Polyus:

This week's image is simply fantastic, btw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am efd:

This is still pretty rocking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Stevel:

I really dig the crazy sounds of today's young people! They certainly have something to say.
Avatar 10:10am Cheri Pi:

Who need le Louvre when we have ChrissEm?
Avatar 10:11am Chris M.:

i'm 59 years old
Avatar 10:12am d¢ pät:

Luckily we can have our Louvre and ChrisM too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Marcel M:

I only went to the damned Louvre to see this one painting and I couldn't dammit. I was so overwhelmed there I just left and went and drank wine and eat goose liver and other weird French stuff. Which was much better than walking around the Louvre all confused like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Polyus:

@Marcel - thanks for the info. I have not seen it before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Greg from Bloomfield:

Yo Marcel!
Had a similar experience at the Loov-ruh. Nobody tells you ahead of time that you need three weeks to see the whole thing.
  10:14am Kevlicki:

You did say Bardo Pond! When I was teenage Punk Rock Kevin I fell asleep at a BP show, on the floor at the Middle East in Boston. I think Avail and Citizen Fish had played, downstairs, and I couldn't stay awake for the indie rock.

On the other hand Melt banana puts on one of the most ecstatic and fun live sets
Avatar 10:14am d¢ pät:

I know what you mean Marcel M. Something similar happened to me at the Philly Museum of Art. I wasn't prepared for how much stuff they have there and found myself moving faster and faster so I could see more. Kind of freaked out at the end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Greg from Bloomfield:

This song is good.
Avatar 10:16am d¢ pät:

agree w/ @Kevlicki--Melt Banana is really melty live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

You could spend your life in the Louvre - & that's but one Museum in Paris. Why did I not just wander in the evenings? Yerknow - Paris...
Avatar 10:16am d¢ pät:

I'm going to try to work up enough energy to go see Downtown Boys tonight...
  10:18am Kevlicki:

@Dc pat did you catch any of the shows where they covered Devos "uncontrollable urge"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am Marcel M:

@Greg/DC PAT: Yes Museams can be super overwhelming, especially The Louvre. Only had a few days in Paris so we said fuck it! Too much to tackle. Went to smaller museums. Def need a plan when you go there.

@Polyus: Happy to pass on the info. I really love Moreau. My icon is a painting of his actually, and if you click my profile, you'll see another one of my favorites. Very haunting. He mixed biblical imagery and symbolism with Greek and Roman.
Avatar 10:19am d¢ pät:

Did not, @Kevlicki, dammit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Marcel M:

Proust loved him and wrote an essay on him which I purchased at his museum, but I cannot read French and cannot find it in English.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Marcel M:

And now I will shut up about him! Rock on dudes.
Avatar 10:22am Chris M.:

just checking: has anyone on the playlist comments ever started a pit? be honest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I tried @ the Louvre. Twas - interesting.
Avatar 10:24am Chris M.:

was it in front of the wall of tourists trying to take photos of the mona lisa?
Avatar 10:25am Kevlicki:

@dc pat I was living in Austin at the time and we heard they'd be covering it.
During their encore when we expected it, the belted out the opening riff of Lenny Kravitz's are you gonna go my way. Everyone stopped dancing and was super confused.
They immediately changed and sang,
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeh!
promtping the whole venue to freak out.
epic memory
Avatar 10:26am Chris M.:

i once saw the louvre museum in austin. sickest pit of all time
Avatar 10:26am Kevlicki:

@Chris M: unsuccessfully, at GY!BE in te Brooklyn Masonic temple
Avatar 10:27am Kevlicki:

Its tough to start one at the louvre, its like everyones made of stone
Avatar 10:29am Cheyenne:

I used to know some riotgrrrl types from Massachusetts and they were in a group called MOSHTROGEN, because they liked to mosh, and were full of estrogen. Awkward name, but proved to me that being in a pit didn't have to mean getting kicked in the head. I'm retired now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am Polyus:

I wanted to start a pit at the Punk exhibition at MoMA
Avatar 10:33am d¢ pät:

They became mosh pits after I was done with them. We just slammed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Marcel M:

I'm often trying to light a joint in the area where pits break out. I'm like some fried hippy trying to groove out at a metal show and then everyone starts punching each other all around me.
Avatar 10:35am Cheyenne:

@Marcel it's that wacky tobacky! It makes most people violent, according to midcentury scare films
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am Ken From Hyde Park:

My daughter and I dug a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, but that's probably not what you meant.
Avatar 10:36am Kevlicki:

Chris M, do you remember a label called Aesthetics, originally from Chicago in the late 90's.
I remember the friend that brought me to that Bardo Pond gig, Ken Dyber, eventually started that label.
I lost track and touch with him forever ago tho
Avatar 10:39am Chris M.:

@Kevlicki: not too familar, sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Polyus:

What a coincidence, Michael Gira is the most effective pit breaker-upper I have ever seen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am Marcel M:

@Cheyenne: Right! Just the smell of it makes people violent! I watched a doc last night that had footage from those movies. Pretty out there!
Avatar 10:49am d¢ pät:

OH BOY! Ethiopian fake meat for lunch! WOOO!
  11:01am ines:

hi! what painting is that? thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Marcel M:

@Ines: L'Apparition by Gustave Moreau
  11:03am gemini:

I had a dream about a mosh pit last night!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Polyus:

I smell pretty neutral today, thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Greg from Bloomfield:

Avatar 11:23am Chris M.:

Avatar 11:24am βrian:

Cherry pie, then? Good cherry pie.
Avatar 11:25am Cheri Pi:

Chris are you a Pie man???
Avatar 11:25am Chris M.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am Greg from Bloomfield:

@Chris: FINE. I'll just take the 3-foot long cake I baked in the shape of the Impaled Nazarene logo to the orphanage.
Avatar 11:27am βrian:

Pie makes the world go round. Love is not a pie, but pie is pie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am common:

@Greg from Bloomfield: never too early to teach kids about satan!
  11:30am i k e:

Yeah my birthday is soon and I'm also not a cake or pie man. Not that I'd turn down cake or pie if offered, but I'm a cookie man. My friends don't understand.

no cookies
Avatar 11:31am d¢ pät:

I'm a fake meat man. But I'll eat the hell out of pecan pie.
  11:33am Dean:

How come we have to enable cookies, but not cake or pie? And how does ice cream fit in?
Avatar 11:35am βrian:

I purge my cookies several times an hour. Just good hygiene, I think.
Avatar 11:35am Chris M.:
