Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Listen to this show:  Pop‑up player!

Artist Track Album Label Year Format Comments Approx. start time
An interview with Yuri in Union Square Park
Duran Duran  Save A Prayer   Options Rio  EMI/Capitol  1982  MP3  04:05 - 07:04 I thought about playing Wild Boys or Union of the Snake; the big production stuff. I like Ordinary World, too. Came back to this one because Simon sings it so well. I think I may have underappreciated him.  0:04:33 (Pop‑up)
An Interview with Biker Ed
Bob Seger  Roll Me Away   Options The Distance  Capitol  1983  MP3  12:52 - 16:08 I like other Bob Seger songs better, I guess. Hollywood Nights, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, Main Street, so many. I saw him open for REO back in the mid-'70's. He was fantastic. This came later on as I recall. He sings it really well. Love Bob.  0:12:45 (Pop‑up)
Unless noted, the music under the interviews is created with combinations of Garageband loops treated with various digital effects. My levels weren't the best. Too quiet. Too loud. Last minute.

Thank you for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I hope you enjoyed it. After many music shows and live shows, with and without Fabio, I've been trying to gat back outside again and to do some interviews. After two weeks of protest programs (the second of which, the MayDay Show, had the lowest listener comment count in recent history, it was good to just talk to people about life and this and that. I also enjoyed selecting the songs, all of which I downloaded the night before the show. I like to not think too much about it - the music - so I don't waste time looking for the perfect song. That Bob Seger I played wasn't his best. I know it. But I played it anyway, and I'm glad I did - because it was a song bikers in the midwest like, and why not. Bob always delivers some honest Michigan soul. I loved the Jobriath and the Obituary. The Cameo is a pleasure for me. Larry Blackmon is pretty awesome. And the Gregg Allman I've always loved. Haunting. Much in the same way I've been digging the Savoy Brown, Hellbound Train track of late.

The weeks fly by. Another month another year. I feel like Dusty is way up and then enters little troughs. People come and go. some of you stay year after year. I appreciate it. Until next time, enjoy the warmer weather, have fun, and always remember ...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Oooooooohhh...this just took a bad turn.
  6:11pm Gee Lampa:

He should have a look in the southern red states. LOTS of white hands open and gladly receiving taxpayer funds.
  6:11pm Gee Lampa:

Sounds like Buddy Hackett on meth.
  6:13pm Gee Lampa:

The best thing he did was find a motorcycle.

  6:15pm Gee Lampa:

I guess this is the logical song to play, but PEWWWW!!!
Avatar 6:15pm Slick Goldtooth:

Jack Nicholson's role in Easy Rider is easily one of my favorite performances by him
Avatar 6:15pm dale:

i ride, but not harley. i can't pull off the village people pirate look these days.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm common:

same here slick g! nick..nick..nick...indians!
  6:16pm Gee Lampa:

I can only handle "Night Moves".
  6:18pm JakeGould:

That biker racist asshole. I hope that is that last we hear of him this show.
  6:18pm Gee Lampa:

That Seger sounds like un-ambitious Meat Loaf.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm steve:

ooo a math guy, now we're getting somewhere
  6:19pm Gee Lampa:

Something he found in a Howard Johnsons stall that Steinman just vacated.
Avatar 6:19pm Ryab:

Avatar 6:23pm Slick Goldtooth:

Iceland's a cheap vacation, just gotta make sure to buy your booze at the airport so you're not paying 15 bucks for a basic lager.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm common:

jobriath! wow! nice clay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Mike East:

really Slick? Cheap airfare or are hotels/food cheap over there? I'd love to go, but I'd have to buy 4 tickets.
Avatar 6:25pm Polyus:

Sounds like I missed a real peach of an interview.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Mike East:

hell yes, jobriath
  6:25pm Gee Lampa:

Moz wanted Jobriath to open for him at msg, only to be Informed by his agent that Jobriath had been DEAD for ten years.
  6:26pm Gee Lampa:

Glam was so great.
Avatar 6:26pm Slick Goldtooth:

It's really not too terrible for airfare if you're going from NYC hubs since it's close and what not. I actually have a friend who's completely impromptu on the fly visiting there really soon and round trip was like 630 bucks.
  6:27pm JakeGould:

Anyone who starts a sentence with “Let me tell you something…” is just going to be a racist.
  6:27pm iris:

Jobriath! I didn't see that coming!
  6:29pm iris:

Clock of the Heart
  6:30pm Gee Lampa:

My fave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Mike East:

@Slick - yeah, that's not bad...may have to look into this.
  6:31pm Gee Lampa:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Carmichael:

God, I hate it when people say "Cali". My pet peeve. Nobody north of Burbank says that.
Avatar 6:32pm Ryab:

It's Cali, braaaaa
  6:32pm iris:

Avatar 6:33pm Ryab:

THis is a great traccck
Avatar 6:33pm Cheri Pi:

I'm shocked CP!!
Avatar 6:33pm Slick Goldtooth:

@Mike , I highly recommend using Skiplagged for booking, basically it beats the pants off Kayak and specifically looks for the lower ticket costs possible. Great for any airfare tbh. I was in Croatia in February, had a short stop in Poland both ways and it was about 670 or so. I'd say only downside was it was a bit of an off season and sorta mildish-brisk so not really much swim action to be had on Croatia's lovely beaches
  6:33pm Gee Lampa:

This guy is just ripping off Animal.
  6:33pm iris:

Clay, play one of those Mad Flexi discs to lighten the mood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm common:

yea nice again clay!
  6:34pm Gee Lampa:

It's no Type O
  6:34pm slowbear:

Avatar 6:34pm Polyus:

Clay, dropping the classic death metal!
Avatar 6:35pm CZECHANO:

Funny song to play after the kids just talked about how optimistic they were about the future. Slowly we rot (;

Here we go
Avatar 6:35pm Cheri Pi:

This was the music of my teens, I graduated in '88

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm steve:

this guy needs to know about PM Dawn
  6:47pm Gee Lampa:

Didn't KRS bum rush the guy from PM?
Avatar 6:47pm Clay Pigeon:

Apologies for the music behind the interviews. Garageband loops. Bad levels. I was trying to avoid logging 250 samples for licensing sweeps.
  6:47pm iris:

@Gee Haw! True story?
  6:48pm iris:

Great show Clay!
  6:48pm Gee Lampa:

Threw him off the stage
Avatar 6:48pm Polyus:

@Gee - that's how I remember it.

Avatar 6:51pm Clay Pigeon:

Prince Be? Was that his name? He has some wild fashion looks of late. Like them. And this kid, Kayne Precise. Some producser or co-writer needs to snag this guy. He's good.
  6:51pm Gee Lampa:

@Clay Prince B
  6:52pm Gee Lampa:

  6:52pm iris:

Clay, do you ever play any reggae? Try some Sister Nancy!
  6:52pm Gee Lampa:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Technically "Prince Be". Sorry to be a PM Dawn know-it-all.
Avatar 6:53pm Cheer:
