Avatar 3:09pm steve:

Avatar 3:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Sigurður:

lets get started
Avatar 3:10pm Cheri Pi:

We've got a tornado warning until 8pm so everything sounds more ominous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm listener monica:

^must be laundry day.
Avatar 3:13pm Cheyenne:

Inspired by yesterday's trip into yesteryear?
Avatar 3:14pm Cheri Pi:

exactly Monica
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Stevel:

Cheri Pi: Already had our first warning in the county up her in Fort Wayne. Looks like you're on the same line. Expecting another in the next hour or so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Oh man! Sun Ra! I was just playing Sun Ra on my school's station today....Great minds...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Scott Williams:

@Cheyenne, lil bit!
Avatar 3:17pm Cheri Pi:

the tornado siren is right above my desk, I almost had a heartattack
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Stevel:

Not a fan of the sirens, as helpful as they can be. Probably because I grew up in Kansas City, Chicago area. Lots of experience heading downstairs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Stevel:

This set if fitting the weather and my most Monday of Mondays. Actually, its a bunch better than both, which is nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Bronwyn Bishop:

The Chicago tornado sirens are kind of like the WFMU version of normal sirens.
  3:20pm Dean:

I'm hearing Vivabeat in this track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Polyus:

I was walking directly underneath a siren near my workplace when it went off - actually made me feel physically ill for a few minutes, in a way I can't quite describe.
  3:21pm herb.nyc:

weird, i was thinking AuPairs 15"ago...
  3:21pm herb.nyc:

...but in the Nanny sense. weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Stevel:

Polyus: Did you grow up in tornado country? Its an upsetting sound, especially when loud.
Avatar 3:22pm d¢ pät:

well what the heck do they sound like?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Scott Williams:

I've got an air raid siren upstairs in my office, should I go get it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Stevel:

Air-raid siren would cover it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@Scott: Yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Better to have it and not need it...
  3:24pm Dean:

...and this one, too.
  3:24pm djelrock:

WoW. Nice Gary Numan. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm adrian in mpls:

afternoon all!
Avatar 3:25pm steve:

im partial to airhorns myself
Avatar 3:26pm Cheri Pi:

Oh yeah the outdoor sirens make you feel like an invasion is coming, they're very visceral.
  3:27pm BriJet:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Stanley:

Ah, listening to the Au Pairs, I wondered if Gary Numan might make an appearance.
Avatar 3:27pm steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Scott Williams:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Scott Williams:

there ya go steve
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Stevel:

steve: If only tornado sirens were so jovial.
Avatar 3:29pm Claw!:

Avatar 3:29pm steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm efd:

dammit, I can't believe I left the Social Media Airhorn in Studio A last week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Stevel:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Polyus:

@stevel: we had occasional warnings in MI, but the sirens were a long way from my house. From up close,it's the most jarring sound I can think of. Way worse than "guitar player forgetting the amp is cranked when they start trying to figure out which pedal is malfunctioning".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Greg from Bloomfield:

I demand that you back announce the songs like Funkmaster Flex!

Avatar 3:31pm steve:

its always a party when you've got an airhorn. that or someone's driving by your window blasting hot 97.
Avatar 3:34pm d¢ pät:

Guess they must sound like the current state of my Fender Twin. When I turn it on now, it squeals at full volume. Now THAT's jarring.
Avatar 3:35pm d¢ pät:

gotta get that dang thing fixed..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Stanley:

That was beautiful
Avatar 3:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Always good to hear some Tim Buckley. Pretty song to help scare away the thunderstorm outside my window.
Avatar 3:37pm Cheri Pi:

I first heard this song from This Mortal Coil
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Ken From Hyde Park:

In my home town, they'd blow the siren at the fire station siren every day at noon and 6PM. If conditions were right, we could hear it several miles out of town.
Avatar 3:38pm KP:

Tim Buckley, ahhhhh.
Avatar 3:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- there's no doubt I saw Tim do that on the Monkees 1st - 'cause they wanted him to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Bronwyn Bishop:

That Monkees episode introduced me to Tim when I was 11. Such a strangely bittersweet way to end a silly series. The Monkees also introduced me to Zappa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Parq:

There was that old Robert Klein bit about how civil defense drills had convinced everyone that the sirens meant a nuclear holocaust, and then they'd blow the sirens everyday at noon for lunch. Klein said that, as a kid, he used to second-guess what would happen if the Ruskies decided to bomb at noon.
Avatar 3:42pm Claw!:

@Greg's 3:30 post - That's EXACTLY what I think of every time I hear an airhorn. Thanks for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Andrew Waterloo:

yah, we'd be totally screwed if we didn't duck and cover when the bomb fell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Bronwyn Bishop:

It's pouring here too Scott! Ugh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm common:

missed the tubeway army, dammit! one o my favorites!
  3:47pm herb.nyc:

careful- some DONT THINK I FORGOT...
  3:48pm herb.nyc:

...liner notes are mispaged. i to get...
  3:48pm herb.nyc:

...new set in the mail, fyi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Greg from Bloomfield:

LOVE this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Hugh:

Loved that Pharoah Overlord! The only drone metal stoner krautrock band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm common:

Avatar 4:13pm Claw!:

That Freddy Fender cut kinda sounded like it went through a Cocoquantus... Interesting effect!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm common:

Avatar 4:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Late! Missed Jay Tee!

  4:41pm marc:

@Claw That's a great trailer
Avatar 4:48pm TDK60:

The plot thickens?
Avatar 5:03pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Didn't Crash Worship tour with PTV in the states, 1989ish? Or is it that false memory syndrome again?
Avatar 5:11pm northguineahills:

Wait, Soul Jazz is rereleasing Popol Vuh, can that label do no wrong?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Stanley:

I want that new Popol Vuh album
Avatar 5:21pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 5:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Working & listening is kind of the ideal - but I'm also told the grass is always greener, but just as hard to mow (deskbound)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm common:

@claw! and to you! revrab: indeed.
Avatar 5:56pm Claw!:

Whoa! This "Runaway" done blowed my mind!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Rest in pieces, Claw's mind.
