Hi, efd and Holly, bob_ham & Bronwyn B!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hi Ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Gee, just realized I made a rhyme. I'm a poet and don't even know it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm efd:

hi to everyone Ken From Hyde Park said hi to, and hi to Ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Stevel:

Not surprising, Ken. Exceptionally talented people tend to hang out hereabouts.
  9:11pm Patro:

Howdy EFD. Great to talk to you at the Record Fair about Bowie. Looking forward to next year's Fair.
  9:11pm bob_ham:

This is the place to be. Well, you know...other than Brooklyn Bowl where NRBQ are playing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Awlright - 'physical speed'! : a song I reference to myself & had no idea when I heard it or who it was...now I wonder if there were other versions...
Avatar 9:12pm Holly in NC:

Hi Ken, Bronwyn, bob_ham, Stevel, and all incoming funk fans!

Hi Holly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm efd:

hi Patro, nice to see you there and here! and hello to Holly, Jake and RRN63
Avatar 9:16pm Chris M.:

what a relief that you like at least 1 song from Rock Or Bust. whew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm efd:

Chris I've played like 4 different songs from it! It's great!
Avatar 9:18pm Chris M.:

you're great.
Avatar 9:18pm JakeGould:

This liquid daydream is great. The “Pow!” song I mean, not the drink.
  9:18pm bob_ham:

Indoctrinating the Jr. Exec. into the world of EFD tonight. So far, he's impressed.
Avatar 9:19pm Chris M.:

efd can you please force some of your "inferiors", as you like to call other DJs, to play my band? we just don't get enough airtime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm looking forward to Evan's record fair selections. Lots of funk on the way, I'm sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm Stevel:

Strong start. Lots of new stuff (to me). Outside, no bugs yet. Life could be worse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Santos L Halper:

Evenin' Evan! Your opening trio was perfect top-down cruising music (which is what i happened to be doing). Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm efd:

Ken, sorry to say there is no InterActiv™ Record Fair Listening Party this year! I was selling at the Record Fair this year (for the first time ever!) and willed myself to not spend all my profits at other tables.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm Stevel:

Santos's experience beats mine!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm efd:

Chris, I'll wield my influence as best I can.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm efd:

glad to hear it, Santos!
Avatar 9:24pm Chris M.:

for the record, fellow efd fans: i bought a record from efd's table and it was my only purchase during the record fair. including food! i didn't eat at all! i look so svelte/bloated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Stevel:

efd Records: Better than food!
Avatar 9:27pm JakeGould:

“i look so svelte/bloated.” That’s the new hip thing. Cutting edge!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Bronwyn Bishop:

True that Stevel. I like to modify that old Erasmus quote and use it to explain my record obsession to people. "When I get a little money I buy records; and if any is left I buy food and clothes."
Avatar 9:29pm glenn:

will there be an errol brown tribute tonight?
  9:30pm bob_ham:

The Jr. Exec. really digs this Stag tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm efd:

Yes! An hour of Errol Brown power coming up at 10pm! Heavy on the non-hits!
Avatar 9:31pm glenn:

nice. i love hot chocolate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm efd:

you're raising that kid right, Bob! Maybe he senses the pac NW connection!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I bet everybody here has put their money into music over food one time or another.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Stevel:

"Heavy on the non hits". Another great slogan!
  9:32pm jon:

hi efd and funkites. always a great mix evan
  9:34pm bob_ham:

That was Steve Mack?! Awesome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The records tonight will sound great, Be they from the fair or not.
  9:39pm bob_ham:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My son likes the Lordz of Brooklyn bed music.
Avatar 9:42pm Holly in NC:

Man, I love early That Petrol Emotion. Fast forward through later TPE and really like Stag!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Rob W:

I was recently in the Bay Area too... the 1-2 dollar bins @ Amoeba, especially their Berkeley store, are so full of interesting stuff... I can't tell you how many things I passed on (because I had so much already) that I would have instantly grabbed if I saw 'em anywhere near the same price in NY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm efd:

it's true Rob, I always feel like I find a lot more when I'm shopping outside of the NYC area... maybe it's a space/rent thing
  9:54pm johnk77:

this came out yesterday?
very cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Bronwyn Bishop:

NYC record stores are intimidating! I will maintain that the best one in the world is the little record store under the used bookshop here in Ithaca.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm efd:

that's right, johnk77! brand new!
  9:58pm Nate Dogg:

BB - Angry Mom Records! Yes! Got "Two Virgins" and "The Great Lost Kinks Record" there. They were not $1.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Yay!!! I'm so glad someone else here has been to Angry Mom. I go there whenever I have the time and money. When I first started going to school up here they had a pretty extensive "weird" section but I've pretty much picked it clean...like an entire record of different laugh tracks (terrifying!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Bronwyn - I think DJ MAC played an hour of laugh tracks on an April 1 show a couple of years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm Bronwyn Bishop:

DJ MAC gets me.
  10:06pm Nate Dogg:

Angry Mom's was quite popular in the Art Department. I don't remember the weird section, "haha," I was probably buying Beach Boy records...yeah I miss that store. That store, the $5 burritos at Viva, the antique places, and the swimming. My god, the swimming.
Avatar 10:08pm JakeGould:

Sad news on Erroll Brown. That vocal twist when he sings, “I believe in miracles!” has always impressed me. Even as a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm efd:

yeah, he was really a remarkable singer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm efd:

of course Harvey Hinsley's guitar played a pretty big part in Hot Chocolate's sound as well.
Avatar 10:15pm coelacanth:

aw man Errol Brown died?
that sucks.
Hi Evan Hi Funkies.
Avatar 10:15pm JakeGould:

You know, he’s really channeling Bowie in “Man to Man” or was Bowie channeling Erroll Brown?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Errol's obit from the NY Times - www.nytimes.com...
Avatar 10:20pm glenn:

man, that cherry red website is quite the something.
Avatar 10:24pm coelacanth:

...and my favorite.
  10:25pm jon:

this hot chocolate block is so good
Avatar 10:29pm Holly in NC:

Hot Chocolate is very important to me . Thank you, efd.
Avatar 10:29pm JakeGould:

I actually just quit actual chocolate yesterday, so the timing of all of this is kind of odd… At least from my dietary and musical tastes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm efd:

Me too, Holly. Glad you(se) are enjoying this.
Avatar 10:31pm coelacanth:

every 1's a winner,Evan!
Avatar 10:32pm glenn:

great drum sound on this.
  10:32pm greyhoos:

Agreed with jon and holly. Deserving of a long-set tribute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Nate Dogg, I know I'm replying to a comment from half an hour ago but I took a break- anyway, I think it's funny that you mention buying Beach Boys records at Angry Mom because I just bought Love You there on Sunday. Anyway- did you go to IC? Or Cornell?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Disco era - but also just great really well-played Soul. But also great smart songs. Every one's a winner indeed.
Avatar 10:40pm coelacanth:

whenever i listen to this i figure Prince also listened to it...and also Phil Lynott.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Stevel:

coelacanth: Guessing you're right. Top notch stuff.
Avatar 10:42pm coelacanth:

yes i'm thinking it's high time i get another hot chocolate record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm efd:

Not sure how easy those CD reissues are to come by these days but I'd highly recommend them, especially the Cicero Park one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm efd:

so hard to pick a favorite, but if somebody held a gun to my head I think I'd have to go with this "You Could've Been A Lady."
  10:51pm Nate Dogg:

Ding Dang that's a great album! Went to CU myself for grad school. Twas free! How bout yourself? Im back in NYC now.
Avatar 10:51pm Tito:

oh god this song
Avatar 10:52pm coelacanth:

does the double cd have enough more than the original record (american)that it's still recommended over the every 1's a winner album? (for someone who had a good-shape copy of the former?)
Avatar 10:52pm Toddophonic:

Wow, never heard this...better than April Wine. Anyone besides me remember Earthquake's version of "Emma"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm Stevel:

Guessing efd doesn't mind the drumming on Hello America either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm efd:

oh man, now I remember that Todd! I have that album!

coelacanth, personally I'd recommend the 2CD Cicero Park CD over the Every 1's reissue. A lot of extra tracks, only one or two dupes (couple of single versions of LP tracks, I think)
Avatar 10:59pm coelacanth:

Ha! i didn't think you would play this! (again)
...my other favorite!

(and emma,too.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(..arpeggio is like when you play notes of a chord separately...)
Avatar 10:59pm Holly in NC:

Every 1's a winner xoxoxoxox
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm efd:

I didn't think I would either!
  11:00pm Ken of Brooklyn:

Avatar 11:01pm JakeGould:

Starring the show because of this.
Avatar 11:01pm coelacanth:

i generally don't like disco; but there are exceptions!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

zackly coelacanth - even then
- were they self-produced?
Avatar 11:05pm coelacanth:

i play every 1's a winner in the pub. the younguns love it, though they don't know who hot chocolate is.

...Thanks Evan for that recommendation. i will heed that.
  11:07pm sugarwolf:

This Errol Brown hour was wonderful!
  11:08pm sugarwolf:

Next year, maybe the L train will be running!
Avatar 11:12pm coelacanth:

RR- yeah, even more then! i wasn't very open to it at the time, but there was that (e 1's a w); "whatever gets you through the night";a few isley brothers songs;"heart of glass"(a little later on.)
i'm sure there were others!
  11:13pm daveB from Oakland:

this IfIf is good headphones music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Uncle Michael:

The Cubs, they have won.
Avatar 11:21pm Holly in NC:

his is nice, efd (talmud beach)
Avatar 11:22pm JakeGould:

@UncleMichael: Won, the Cubs have.
Avatar 11:23pm Holly in NC:

  11:42pm P-90:

"I'll be there with my I-Cee cup"? That's great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm efd:

that whole John Krautner album is so good!
Avatar 11:51pm Holly in NC:

Burger's on a roll here, Sara Beth is hitting spot also
Avatar 11:59pm Holly in NC:

Oh nice finish efd, very cool.
Avatar 12:00am coelacanth:

Thanks efd, Brilliant as usual!
'night primates.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
