Hella, fellas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm DCE:

I took a shower this morning. Hopefully that counts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Dominick:

Did Brian Wilson write this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Ĩkє:

Talking soap? I've never heard of a such a disturbing thing! I don't want my soap chatting with me when I'm trying to scrub my bits and bobs and such. Blasphemy! Demon soap! KILL IT! Kill it with fire!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm DCE:

oh you're no fun Ike. I wish everything talked to me. In fact it does most of the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Afternoon, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm RZ:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Ĩk∑:

All right, all right, the soap can talk. But only if the shower head and the faucet will agree to argue with it. Must have balance of power.

This can only be followed by Hocus Pocus.

@Webmaster Henry - so true!

this guy sounds a little like mid 70s Dave Mason.
Avatar 4:12pm Cecile:

Or Bob Welch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Scott Williams:

Good ear Cecile, it is Bob Welch
  4:13pm Mark:

Wow I haven't heard this Paris track in literally like 35 years.
Avatar 4:13pm Cecile:

  4:14pm Cooh John:

I remember this song. He wrote plays are produced everything will go solo.
Avatar 4:14pm Cecile:

He has that super-clean enunciation.
Avatar 4:14pm Chris from DC:

I vaguely remember a snippet of this playing in a commercial for a K-Tel record I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm Parq:

Mark, I was just thinking the same thing. I'm pretty sure I played this on my own college radio show back in the Paleozoic Era.
  4:14pm Mark:

I was actually a fan of the very unpopular middle edition of Fleetwood Mac--"Bare Trees."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Greg from Bloomfield:

New favorite song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Andrew Waterloo:

I would like to know a bit more about this big towne.
  4:16pm ?:

Can is the beatles of WFMU
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Webhamster Henry:

It is true that there's something very unbatheable about today's playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Scott Williams:

one of em, anyway
  4:17pm hot bar:

I just decided between listening to this show or this album.
  4:17pm Mark:

I think Dengue Fever is the Stones of WMFU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm chris:

I love me some FMU beatles. Hi, Scott, other reluctant bathers
Avatar 4:18pm Cecile:

I think Khlam is the Hampton Grease Band of WFMU
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Greg from Bloomfield:

@hot bar: Always bet on Scott.
Avatar 4:19pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Hampton Grease Khlam.... now there's a novelty act I'd pay to see.
  4:19pm ?:

Aphrodite's Child is the beatles of Scott
  4:19pm Mark:

This "Dizzy" track is pretty trippy...
Avatar 4:20pm Cecile:

You and me both.
It would be both awesome and the worst selling record in the known universe...

One horse is green.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm Greg from Bloomfield:

And The Fall is the The Monkees of FMU.

Actually...The Monkees are The Monkees of FMU...
  4:20pm Mark:

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever heard any actual Beatles on WFMU.
Avatar 4:20pm steve:

hey folks. still in the tub.
  4:21pm hot bar:

I kinda think Beatles radio karaoke is the Beatles of wfmu
Avatar 4:21pm Cecile:

You must not listen to Joe Belock or Gaylord.
  4:22pm Mark:

I do, especially Joe, but I must have just missed them.
Avatar 4:22pm Cecile:

I am doing my new wave dance to this.
  4:22pm Mark:

It's OK--it's not like I'm under-Beatled.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm Parq:

So is Dan Melchior the Dylan of FMU? Mark, Irwin plays 'em once in a while too.
Avatar 4:22pm Cecile:

that could be!
  4:24pm Greg Red:

just thinking, "Need to listen to Scott's show more often."

Great show today, sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Scott Williams:

danke, Greg Red!

Avatar 4:26pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

@Cecile - have you seen this How to Dance Goth video? Very informative. Are you doing the "so many webs" or "step over your dead friend"?
  4:26pm Mark:

Crackly Association no less

  4:27pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Did I miss the talking soap? Someone right now has some RFID soap app project they are working on. Because humanity.
Avatar 4:27pm Cecile:

you or the station need a nice clean copy of this.

Jennique, it's more like balancing hedgehogs in each hand.
Avatar 4:27pm Cecile:

one goes up, one goes down...
Avatar 4:28pm V Priceless:

one of the greatest records ever made, IMO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Webhamster Henry:

I, on the other hand, am diggin' the pops on this pop tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Scott Williams:

Oh no, must have the surface noise! extra spice
  4:29pm Mark:

If you were going to fix a drink called a Burnin' Red Ivanhoe, what would it have in it?
  4:30pm JakeGould:

@Mark: Wood aged some-kind-of-alcohol, thyme and hot pepper.
Avatar 4:30pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Vodka, sriracha, & herpes.
Avatar 4:32pm Chris from DC:

And a dash of bitters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Webhamster Henry:

"Time Zones" is the "Dancing Queen" of WFMU.
  4:33pm hot bar:

@henry Agree
Avatar 4:34pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Thought we had a cover of "take stuff from work" there for a minute.
  4:34pm ?:

Burnin' Red Ivanhole
Avatar 4:35pm Claw!:

That sounds like a bad time.
Avatar 4:38pm Cecile:

I don't mind a little crackle, but that sounded kind of rough.
Avatar 4:38pm Ryab:

Hey Scott, what's playing behind you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Webhamster Henry:

And don't forget the "Tape Hiss" feature of Tony Coulter's GTDS show.
Avatar 4:38pm Claw!:

Surface Noise is a great program, Folks. Don't knock it.
Avatar 4:39pm Ryab:

It really hits hard haha
Avatar 4:40pm Jeff:

Surface noise? Tough dookie.

(If you're a connoisseur of the characteristics if tics and pops, compare the MP4 and AAC streams - the two codecs deal with impulses differently to my ear.)
Avatar 4:41pm Jeff:

I meant MP3 and AAC - the latter being served up in an MP4 dish.

Too many MPs.
Avatar 4:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 4:43pm steve:

Blevin Blectum wowweee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm common:

indeed, rev!
Avatar 4:44pm Cecile:

I like tape hiss and surface noise. But pops are one thing, and what sounds like cellophane on fire is another. Who doesn't like a nice clean(ish) copy of a vintage album? I didn't think I was courting controversy here.
Avatar 4:46pm steve:

Mueran Humanos double wowweeee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Carmichael:

Hello Scott and unhygienic friends. Thou shalt not bathe ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Carmichael:

Looks like you swag for lifers don't get a time-stamp on your comments. Gotta take the goo with the bad ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Carmichael:

Avatar 4:56pm V Priceless:

yeah, I'll get behind the H. White presidency - includes bourbon-powered time machine! What's not to endorse?
Avatar 4:56pm Claw!:

Scott, this program has been KILLER. It seems as though your star shines brighter when you're dirtier.
Avatar 4:57pm TDK60:

Nobody for Prez.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Scott Williams:

aww danke Claw! yeah, sometimes the stinkier the better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm ikє:

@Carm, I see a time stamp (Firefox on PC). What you on?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Carmichael:

Ike, I'm on good ol' IE9. There are time stamps for everyone else. I have other FMU browser issues that seem to be related to IE9. Bu this is a work PC, so I can't diddle with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm common:

dirty scott.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Webhamster Henry:

@Carmichael I see IE9 has the data but is not rendering it properly. Something off with the text-align:right CSS property. All the other browsers here seem to work. (opera, chrome, firefox, safari). You may be able to fix it by zapping the css using the accessibility feature of IE9.
Not for nothing am I called the WebHamster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Carmichael:

Id love to Henry! What is the "CSS"?
Avatar 5:18pm Cecile:

Is this a different Cybotron than Juan Atkins and co?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Scott Williams:

Yep, 70s Australian duo
Avatar 5:23pm V Priceless:

this is great, Scott!
Avatar 5:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Buenos Tardis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Webhamster Henry:

@Carmichael well, a somewhat unsatisfying fix is to go to that gear icon in the top right corner, (or ctrl-X) , hit the Accessibility button on the lower right, and click "Ignore FontSizes" checkbox. When you "OK" yourself out of those settings, you'll see the timestamps... although it may mess up any other place that sets font sizes (basically, everything else), so uncheck it when you leave the playlist!
Avatar 5:26pm bennett4senate:

oh word, the OTHER Cybotron sounds like this too? figured it was just an album cut I hadn't heard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Webhamster Henry:

Because you have to hunt for these things, it's called "Internet Explorer".
Avatar 5:31pm V Priceless:

"They say the neon lights are bright..."

...your Broadway ambitions are just a tangerine dream...
  5:38pm Mark:

Love this version of "Dark End
of the Street"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Carmichael:

Thanks, Henry
  5:39pm Mark:

Also loved "We'll Sweep Out the Ashes in the Morning" with Emmylou--another song of forbidden love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Webhamster Henry:

Ahh .. the Bewitched doesn't get much play.
  5:41pm Mark:

I dig Harry Partch--does that mean I should check myself into a mental institution?
  5:42pm Mark:

I don't know much about him--what was his story, mental health-wise? Was he ever institutionalized?
Avatar 5:42pm Cecile:

this piece is also known as "duke still sucks".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Webhamster Henry:

@Mark nope - it means get yourself to Seattle and follow the instrumentarium. BTW, the American Festival of Microtonal Music just has some shows two weeks ago, I think they played a Partch piece.
  5:43pm Biil B CT:

Killer show Scott. I hate when your show is over and the Monday music ends.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Webhamster Henry:

Avatar 5:45pm Cecile:

He was a hobo for a time, but it was more for research purposes.

Anyone see the doc "I Hate Christian Laettner". it clears up some misconceptions, but I still want to smack his college face but hard.
Avatar 5:45pm TDK60:

Wow, from the Burritos to Harry P. Scott, you're rocking the turntables!
Avatar 5:45pm Cecile:

I'm going to make a t-shirt "Christian Laettner is still a hobo" to confuse people.
Avatar 5:46pm Cecile:

bye all!
Avatar 5:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Digging wallpaper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Scott Williams:

C'ya C'cile!
Avatar 5:50pm glenn:

what, no gunter grass memorial?
  5:54pm Biil B CT:

Scott's last set could be a Grass memorial.
Avatar 5:56pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@Carmichael/@Henry: Oh yeah, IE not looking so good (what else is new)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Scott Williams:

Thanks for sticking around, everyone! See you next week - I'll wash for that one, maybe...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Carmichael:

Kenzo, the "now playing" defaults back to the 1st song of the show after a few seconds. A minor annoyance, but worth noting.
