You got some gall Pat Byrne!

(unlike Bad Guy Zero)
Avatar 9:05pm Danne D:

Hey everyone :)
Avatar 9:05pm JakeGould:

I can’t be firsties since Bad Guy Zero is in the studio. So hey.
  9:07pm Carmichael:

Pat, I loved your Marathon performance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm cory:

this is so much better than today has been. this is the rock i have desired
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Listening while making Easter pierogi with the bros in Montclair...
  9:08pm Carmichael:

My man cave is rockin'.
Avatar 9:10pm JakeGould:

@Carmichael: So that high fibre diet is working for you?
Avatar 9:19pm Danne D:

This should be like the basketball with a regular stream and then a pro-Pat Byrne stream and then a pro-Bad Guy Zero stream :)
  9:22pm Celeste:

@Greg Pass the pierogi to the left 1x.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Pat Byrne:

Thanks Carmichael! and thank you ALL!
Avatar 9:23pm Danne D:

@Greg do you use food coloring to differentiate what kind of filling the pierogi has?
  9:23pm Carmichael:

Dude, its drying me out. I need 12 gallons of water a day, at the minimum.
  9:23pm -andrew-:

Hey everyone!
Avatar 9:24pm JakeGould:

@DanneD: Ewwww. No food coloring in savory foods.
  9:26pm -andrew-:

We go through a fair amount of green food coloring. The price of having a kid who loves green eggs and ham.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Greg from Bloomfield:

@Danne: No, because they're all potato and onion, but that's a great idea!
Avatar 9:27pm Danne D:

@Greg - credit my mom for that one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Pat Byrne:

is this track too "Bill Kelly?" is it reeeeeeel rock n roll? or JUST rock n roll?
Avatar 9:31pm Danne D:

@Pat we'll find out if you start Me-a-souri talk :) then it will be deemed too Bill Kelly ;)
Avatar 9:32pm Zero Gallbladder:

Avatar 9:33pm Danne D:

Or should I say ZGB?
  9:35pm Celeste:

@Jake I'm w/ you. No green dyes in savory foods. I save that for my M&M's. Maybe you guys can add spinach instead. Spinach wraps don't use coloring (I don't think)
  9:38pm Carmichael:

First I've heard of Easter pirogies. Having the ol' traditional leg of lamb.
Avatar 9:39pm Danne D:

Might make myself an Easter Pizza :)
  9:39pm Carmichael:

Sounds good, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Grandma used to do a whole Ukranian spread on Easter: pierogi, kielbasa, babka, kapusta, etc. It's why I still actually look forward to Easter.
  9:41pm sugarwolf:

I have friends who have made Easter pierogies. They used Martha Stewart's recipe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Grandma > Martha Stewart
  9:43pm Carmichael:

Jaysis Greg. I would be happy as a clam, and big as a house.
Avatar 9:46pm BEAVO:

A dog is faithful, Lewis Clark apparently hasn't been burned by enough women. I'm good Pat
  9:51pm Listener Robert:

I remember it used to be about 50-50 between front- & back-announcing, but hardly ever hear front-announcing any more. Is it because DJs are trying to squeeze in all they can?
Avatar 9:54pm Danne D:

Jub Jub! :)
  9:54pm Celeste:

@listener Show prep vs No show prep
Avatar 9:57pm Danne D:

c'mon Pat, where do you think the phrase "hung like a horse" came from?
  9:58pm Carmichael:

A "stable" amount?
Avatar 9:58pm Danne D:

Yay BGZ :)

I've used the phrase "comments critters" but apparently that's frowned upon
Avatar 10:06pm Danne D:

bladder? I hardly knew her
  10:08pm Listener Robert:

You can live fine without a gall bladder, hardly notice the loss. You wind up with a continual flow of bile into your gut rather than a sporadic one.
  10:12pm Listener Robert:

People born without a gall bladder usu. never notice -- www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov...
  10:12pm Carmichael:

Dude! Less talk, more rock.
  10:17pm Listener Robert:

You can't catch shingles directly. If you haven't had chicken pox, you can catch chicken pox from someone with shingles.
  10:17pm P-90:

Woah... When this guy says he'll bust a gut to help out at the Marathon, he really means it.
Avatar 10:18pm Danne D:

Prove your disease all night with Pat and BGZ :)
  10:18pm Listener Robert:

You practically can't get chicken pox twice, but you can get shingles over & over. I've had it once, can't afford the vaccine right now.
Avatar 10:19pm Danne D:

whoa it's everybody knows everybody :)
  10:19pm P-90:

Shingles: It's not like having Chicken Pox, it's like having searing pain in your skin (usually on your back.). That won't go away.
Avatar 10:19pm Danne D:

I had chicken pox more than once - pretty sure shingles was a one-shot deal though.

The thing that can get ya with shingles is neuralgia
Avatar 10:20pm Danne D:

Avatar 10:23pm JakeGould:

@DanneD: You can get anything from anything. After caring for a few family members who had different illnesses all I keep on thinking about is the Winston Churchill quote about fear itself. Be careful, be clean, and all is good.
Avatar 10:24pm Danne D:

now I'm scared :(
  10:24pm Carmichael:

I had to take a dump in a blinding blizzard. No shelter anywhere.
  10:28pm Shane-Michael:

I had shingles once. No fun man. Don't let that stuff go, I went to the doctor and he was mad at me I didn't come earlier because that stuff can get deadly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My worst time was coming home from Angouleme (french comic festival), and getting air sick on the plane, and spending hours in the bathroom BUT then arguing with the flight attendants and eventually having to sit in the seat while they landed. (just take an advil! they said.) They gave me a little bag and I had to sit next to a very uncomfortable person who I knew was a really well known comic artist (they didn't know me, thankfully). I later read their tweets and they read: "OH GOD GET ME OFF THIS PLANE." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Avatar 10:28pm JakeGould:

@DanneD: You are like Homer Simpson in that episode where he read that he should treat each day of his life as if it were his last. So he pulls over the car and starts cry/screaming about why does he have to die in a day?
Avatar 10:28pm JakeGould:

@Shane-Michal: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Avatar 10:30pm JakeGould:

¯\_(ツ)_/¯\_(ツ)_/¯HANDS ACROSS AMERICA¯\_(ツ)_/¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  10:33pm Carmichael:

I believe this may be "Brainiac".
  10:33pm Shane-Michael:

Easily my favorite emoticon: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it keeps a positive public face while perfectly conveying my 'whatcha gonna do?!' mentality
Avatar 10:34pm JakeGould:

@Shane-Michael: All respect. I like that emoticon as well. Have you seen the “Keep on Trucking” variant? ¯\_(ツ)¯\_ ¯\_(ツ)¯\_ ¯\_(ツ)¯\_
  10:34pm Listener Robert:

I have numbness, swelling, & some weakness in some fingers of my L hand from a case of shingles in 2013. I had occasional shooting pains there too that took about a year to gradually go away.

How varicella zoster can cause herpes after so long AND YET respond to a vaccine is very mysterious to me. If you don't form protective antibodies from the initial case of chicken pox, why is the immune response to the Zostavax any better? If the virus is in a temperate form within nervous system cells, how does any circulating antibody affect it?
  10:36pm Carmichael:

Everyone loves the Melvins.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm cory:

i know i do
Avatar 10:37pm Danne D:

@Jake d'oh!
  10:38pm Carmichael:

My next band will be called Circulating Antibodies.
  10:40pm Carmichael:

Everyone reveres AC/DC.
  10:40pm Listener Robert:

When I was in med school almost 40 yrs. ago, they told us there was no good incentive to develop a vaccine against varicella, since chicken pox was so mild a disease, and it could be decades before it could be told whether a live, attenuated varicella vaccine would itself pose greater risk of shingles than the wild type virus.

And yet here we are. There've been enormous advances in vaccine technology, and an explosion of new vaccines. They say Zostavax, which is like a quintuple dose of the vaccine they give against chicken pox, is about 50-50 effective at preventing shingles.
Avatar 10:42pm JakeGould:

@ListenerRobert: This show topic is almost up your alley. Any example of dealing with what you have dealt with in a situation you should have just instead have been at home resting?
  10:43pm Carmichael:

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Capitol recording artists Quintuple Dose!
  10:55pm Listener Robert:

Plenty of examples, Jake, but none stand out as above the others or interesting. The commonest examples most people could give would be traveling or doing something else outdoors in bad or dangerous weather, and doing things when you're sick. Others might be attempting various types of work when the required personnel or tools were missing. Dime a dozen.
  11:00pm marc:

Whats her Twitter??
  11:02pm Carmichael:

Seagram's lime ginger ale. I love those machines.
Avatar 11:03pm JakeGould:

@Carmichael: You know how much mold those nozzles get? Seriously.
Avatar 11:08pm JakeGould:

Is this “Listener Robert”? If so, kudos for calling.
  11:16pm marc:

Pat, thank you for reading my tweet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Pat Byrne:

  11:20pm marc:

Hard for me to talk on the radio. I appreciated it
Avatar 11:25pm JakeGould:

The topic is kind of tough because there are too many stories like that and some are just TMI and not funny. I’m thinking about the time in college I ate two full pot brownies before taking final exams. That’s about it. 1/2 hour into exams the desk became very wavy.
Avatar 11:25pm Danne D:

Pat's good people :)
Avatar 11:27pm JakeGould:

Oh, I thought those two brownies were just normal brownies. Grabbed them from the school newspaper mini fridge and hit the road. Whoops.
  11:27pm marc:

Pat's the best :)
Avatar 11:27pm Danne D:

And btw BGZ your set was awesome :)
  11:28pm P-90:

@BGZ: I'm no pushover in this dept, and I am in fact prepared to give you a letter grade of A for music programming. Looking forward to your first real FMU guest DJ shift, cheers!
Avatar 11:29pm Danne D:

yeah we need to get Randall to fly up every week to do a show now :)
Avatar 11:30pm Danne D:

Everybody loves BGZ
Avatar 11:31pm JakeGould:

So wait, BGZ flew up for the marathon and then had the surgery in Jersey City?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm ! I X Key !:

  11:34pm P-90:

I agree w/BGZ that Tusk is the pinnacle of the Lindsey version of F. Mac
  11:37pm P-90:

A lot of the people who bought 40 million-odd "Fleetwood Mac" and "Rumoura" LPs just went "huh?!" When Tusk appeared.
  11:39pm Easter Bunny:

I'm going to leave your kids lots of candy with cancer causing food coloring in it tonight but use your freakin heads and DO NOT LET THEM EAT IT.
Avatar 11:40pm JakeGould:

@BGZ: Wow. Your gallbladder arrived in Jersey City and then said, “Ehhh… Time to go!” Serious WFMU bonding.
Avatar 11:41pm Danne D:

Good Point, they did kinda leave that hanging
Avatar 11:43pm Danne D:

Avatar 11:43pm Danne D:

I'm tend to be not inclined to f with Scientologists or LaRouchies.
  11:44pm Carmichael:

I buried Paul.
  11:45pm P-90:

WAIT! Hubbard was NEVER considered a serious talent within the Science Fiction fan community. His failure as a writer was one of the reasons he became a professional prophet/demigod instead of just remaining a writer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm ! I X Key !:

I was "in," & I've read all the tech, & I bought the book Going Clear when it came out! This is awesome!
Avatar 11:54pm JakeGould:

I remember tons of commercials for “Dianetics” in the 1980s. Odd to think someone never saw those commercials, but hey.
Avatar 11:55pm Danne D:

I remember those ads to - happily mom gave a nice dismissive answer when I asked about 'em.

Thanks for an awesome show Pat and BGZ and everyone :)
Avatar 11:58pm JakeGould:

@DanneD: Thrift stores were filled with copies of that book. Almost as many as “Bonfire of the Vanities” 10 or 20 years ago.
Avatar 11:59pm JakeGould:

Thank you too Pat and Bad Gallbladder Zero. Great WFMU fan/DJ show.
