Options Brian Turner: Playlist from March 3, 2015 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Avatar 3:06pm Cheri Pi:

Heya BTweens!
Avatar 3:08pm Lopez:

I missed those sweet Boy Clams but at least Time Ghost is here to set me on a bizarre path. G'afternoon y'all
Avatar 3:09pm Lopez:

I see we've lost our hearts in anticipation of the marathon, so do something heartless today!
Avatar 3:10pm Chris Echo:

listening in circles. Love it Brian

"Oh I'll sing you a song about the old '49 / Fastest engine on the Santa Fe line / On the 14th of April she made a desperate dash / And she got there on time and she did not crash" - Shel Silverstein

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Polyus:

I think I may still have this Shiny Beast record somewhere. Weren't they from Louisville or parts nearby?
Avatar 3:44pm Cecile:

Brian, can you play that new feedtime single?
Avatar 3:46pm TDK60:

Love it low, bassy, and tuned down.
Avatar 3:47pm βrian:

Softly we go into the vortex.
Avatar 3:48pm Cecile:

You want to say something like "this makes Sunn 0 sounds like the Bad Brains". but it's just. not. possible.
Avatar 3:50pm βrian:

Lambent tongues of light coax us downward ...
Avatar 3:50pm TDK60:

In NYC it is snowing, again.
Avatar 3:53pm slugluv1313:

oooooo loving this MONARCH -- redeeming a thoroughly crappy & frustrating day & making me HAPPY!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Whosondephone:

Get out of here! Doom and throat singing. My two favorite niches.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 3:57pm steve:

sweet sweet vox
Avatar 3:58pm βrian:

Do I hear Messiaen sneaking about down there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Bronwyn Bishop:

That was beautiful :D I love throat singing! We had some throat singing monks at my hometown music festival one time and people laughed at them :(
Avatar 4:00pm βrian:

Ok, now I get it. Wrong stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Polyus:

Whoa, I imagined a song in that set or something. Creepy.
Avatar 4:01pm TDK60:

Bronwyn B.: Would it be polite to ask which town that was?
Avatar 4:03pm Cecile:

I would only laugh in delight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Bethlehem, PA. The music festival was Musikfest. And I think most people in the audience appreciated it, but the few who laughed kinda wrecked the ambience...
Avatar 4:05pm slugluv1313:

@ Bronwyn Bishop -- that totally sucks! (not that your town had this festival, but that people laughed at the monks!)
@ Brian -- MONARCH kinda reminds me of UNDOR! awesome show, much music to investigate further!
Avatar 4:05pm Cheri Pi:

Cecile, I'm sending you a rhubarb shrub cocktail
Avatar 4:06pm TDK60:

Heard Horse Lords on Transpacific Sound Paradise weeks ago. And here too.
  4:07pm βrian:

Ah, rhubarb season is just around the corner! Oh tart stalk!

Fuzzy flange freak-out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...there should be SciFi & Giant Monster movies just so Brian Turner could choose the soundtracks - & they should be worthy of it...
Avatar 4:41pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 4:45pm Cheri Pi:

If he's gonna scream, now may be a good time. before the song ends.
  4:47pm ?:

Dig the song, though the vocals remind me of kevin from the office (us).
Avatar 4:47pm Lopez:

Just a sweet little pick-me-up on this snowy day. Thanks Zarkrinur for your delicate sounds!

  5:06pm JakeGould:

FWIW, I had a relapse of that cold (the virus) this past weekend. Over it just today but just saying… In a few weeks “rw” a small “aftershock” might hit.
Avatar 5:07pm RZ:

Thanks, @chris! Today's Turner tuneskis are helping a bit. :)
Avatar 5:09pm Lopez:

This is straight tape genius
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Bronwyn Bishop:

My mother was a punk back in the 70s and 80s, and my dad voted for Reagan, so I think Rokker knows my family strangely well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Except for the hammer thing, of course.
Avatar 5:23pm Chris Echo:

wicked show man!
Avatar 5:40pm Faye:

Avatar 5:40pm Brian Turner:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm chris:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Bronwyn Bishop:

That was an amazing segue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm chris:
