Live Performance by Emma Tricca with Jason Victor
With an early push from the likes of John Renbourne and Odetta, Emma Tricca dove deeply into the pool of 70s folkies from Italy and England, where she was born and grew up. Tricca's pretty, unadorned music shows a reaction to all her travels and family life with scientists and artists. Emma Tricca's latest album is "Relic," and she dropped by WFMU with guitarist Jason Victor to play some of her beautiful tunes.

Hi Adrian, gongoleer, RZ Sam, chris, Tome, Will, Nick, Brandon and redkayak! I'm just getting settled in. Recorded a nice live set with Emma Tricca and Jason Victor that I'm about to present. Brandon, I don't have Jessica's album, but I may have something from Focus, gongoleer. And 'hi' to Melinda too

Sweet set, Irene. Love to get her booked up here someday. She seems like a lovely person & fine musician/singer/songwriter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks redkayak and KP. And, yes gongoleer Emma was just delightful and funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Highly talented!
Avatar 10:31pm gongoleer:

Ah, that british/italian humor.
Avatar 10:32pm Mugsy:

  10:36pm Robert:

The bass fiddle is playing something that sounds like "Thunderstruck", but also like the theme music to "Dept. S", "Lost", and "Mad World".
Avatar 10:37pm gongoleer:

I met her here a few years ago when she was campaigning with Senator Leahy for the removal of the land mines overseas. Very powerful presence. Have a signed photo of her & I together.
  10:54pm KP:

A fav
  10:55pm Carmichael:

Hi Irene. Funny, you played most of musical youth: Haslam, Fahey, etc ...
  10:57pm Carmichael:

*my* musical youth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm Irene Trudel:

Carm, this is a lot of my musical youth as well! KP, definitely a fave of mine. Wore out several copies of Ashes are Burning on vinyl.
  11:05pm Carmichael:

I still hug my copy of Davey Graham's Hat.
Avatar 11:07pm gongoleer:

Ah, someone else who knows of Davey Graham. How cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm Irene Trudel:

I love Davy Graham! May not pull it out of the wall tonight, but who knows?
Avatar 11:09pm gongoleer:

Thank you Irene. You didn't forget me. I will bequeath records to you one day. Not yet and hopefully not for a long while, but someday.
  11:10pm Carmichael:

Absolutely. You can't listen to Fahey without at least considering Graham, Renbourn and Bert Jansch.
  11:12pm Carmichael:

Irene, that album of ragas, blues and whatever is incredible. Transcendental ...
Avatar 11:16pm gongoleer:

Davey may well have been my first intro to virtuoso inventive guitar playing. Even more so than Sandy Bull or others of that era. He really blew me away and likely influenced my polyrhythmic sensibilities.
@carmichael, Let us not forget Don Bikoff amidst Fahey, Renbourn, Jansch, and slew of others.
  11:20pm Carmichael:

Thanks, gongoleer, you know are correct!

  11:42pm Bill Domanico:

Jane Relf tried to cash in on Renaissance success in the late 70's with a band called Illusion and the album was called Candles are
Burning. I think Keith Relf was still alive at the time. I had the record decades ago but it is long gone.
Avatar 11:45pm Mugsy:

Lovely night. Enjoy your two weeks. We'll miss you.
  11:49pm Carmichael:

Thanks Irene. Enjoy your holiday.
  11:52pm JakeGould:

Hello! Late to this thing, but been listening to the show. Great stuff tonight.
  11:53pm Carmichael:

Yeah, end on a high note!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm Irene Trudel:

Ah, thanks for the Renaissance update Bill. I knew about the Illusion album but couldn't place it. Goodnight to everybody. See you in two weeks!
  11:57pm Carmichael:

Jaysis, i forgot all about John Martyn. Someone kick me.

Avatar 12:00am gongoleer:

Goodnight Irene, Good night. See you in two weeks. Enjoy and get rest. Did you get to check out the video link? Will be in touch. Loved the show and fine way to spend a Tuesday evening. Namaste.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 5:41am Sean in Bristol UK:

Great show Irene, have a relaxing fortnight off, will be setting my alarm to pledge on your show.
Avatar 9:59am Van in DC:

So I'm resting up a bit before the show, on my couch, and next thing I know, I'm waking up at 2:32 AM (EST). Whoops.

Rewind time!
Avatar 🥁 4:58pm TDK60:

Irene, Thanks for your Feb. 24 show, especially 'Colombe' by Judy Collins, one of the most passionate antiwar songs, from one of the great 1960s albums, one of my faves, 'In My Life.'
