Avatar 3:07pm Irwin:

Got a good pic that isn't already overexposed on the webs? Was too busy launching cyberattacks against ISIS this past week to look for a playlist pic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Polyus:

Hey Irwin (or anyone who has had to deal with this): I did the monthly charge thing for last year's fundraiser, and just had to get a new card. Who at WFMU do I get in touch with to change that info?
Avatar 3:10pm Claw!:

Yo, Sem!

Cool, thanks everyone. I had better get on that.
Avatar 3:14pm Studio B Ben:

I could hear Medeski distinctly in there--he has such a signature sound on the organ--and my ears did not deceive me! Looking forward to that album now!

Mr. Ayers! Nice!!

@RRN63, holy cow, there actually ARE reviews of WFMU on Yelp. From one of the many five-star reviews: "I was going to give WFMU four stars [out of five], but Andy Breckman sounded so sincere when I heard him apologize for hurting listeners' feelings tonight that any damage done by him is forgiven completely."
Avatar 3:26pm Sem Chumbo:

Kevin Ayers. Wonderful cut, IC.

Avatar 4:46pm glenn:

yeah, but the japanese eat sushi off of a naked model, and THEY don't get sick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Carmichael:

If you would just eat tainted beef instead, you wouldn't have that problem.
Avatar 4:50pm TDK60:

RevRab, DJ, etc. Yeah, Knicks were obviously Fab 4 inspired but they came up with good arrangements and could rock.
  4:50pm JakeGould:

I hear McDonald’s is giving away food if you come in and do a soft-shoe act nowadays.
Avatar 4:51pm V Priceless:

yeah, 'cause nothing says 'Big Government' more than 'All employees must wash hands'!
Avatar 4:52pm TDK60:

Rumor has it that even WFMU DJs are asked to wash their hands after visiting the rest room. How authoritarian! Stalinism creeping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Parq:

TDK, well that just makes sense, especially around marathon time. They have to handle our money.
  4:55pm JakeGould:

Unless you ask people to wash their hands, they would just walk around with feces on their hands all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Parq:

The thing is, the senator probably knows how silly the statement is. But here's something else he knows; he's a freshman senator from the Carolinas who's now made national news and has all of us talking about him. No such thing as bad publicity and all that.
Avatar 4:58pm V Priceless:

@ Parq: throw him to Pizza The Hutt, I say!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Carmichael:

They'd say, "Hey, here comes ol' Feces Hands!"
Avatar 5:02pm glenn:

shitfinger, to the likes of us.
  5:03pm Dean:

Beg to disagree. The senator does not know how silly the opinion sounds. He views freedom as purely rivalrous. Your regulation directly depletes my freedom. He can't conceive of the regulation as possibly facilitating freedom.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Webhamster Henry:

Trouble played Ring Around The Moon yesterday. These repro instruments looks really good and are probably more sturdily built.
Avatar 5:06pm glenn:

43 notes to the octave, huh? nobody plays that stuff by ear.
  5:07pm Listening Out There:

Henry...Irene played Harry Partch last night...her playlist says it's the same tune...
Avatar 5:07pm TDK60:

Don't know if this was discussed, but the fellow playing trumpet in the photograph above looks like the guy who played the sourpuss cop in the old TV series 'Dragnet', eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Webhamster Henry:

Yeah Irene, not Trouble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Carmichael:

One and the same, TDK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Webhamster Henry:

Windsong is on Castor and Pollux, and there's no Chromelodeon. Ring Around the Moon was a live performance.
Avatar 5:13pm Irwin:

What do you mean Windsong is "on" Castor and Pollux?
Avatar 5:14pm TDK60:

Back to Harry. Thanks to Irwin, I was directed to the last performance of Partch instruments at Montclair State last year. The audience got to try out the instruments after the show. I headed right for the chromolodeon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Webhamster Henry:

C&P were the main instruments .. I think he built them for WindSong. I don't have my copy of Genensis of a Music on me right now though.
Avatar 5:17pm Irwin:

Henry: I've never heard of Partch instruments called Castor and Pollux. That was a composition of his.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Webhamster Henry:

C&P were two harmonic canons. Anyway, it's very different from Ring Around The Moon.
Avatar 5:18pm Irwin:

Didn't know that. Thanks, Henry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Webhamster Henry:

The American Festival of Microtonal Music is doing a Partch piece on March 29th at Spectrum I think. I don't know which one, though. Plenty of other works in that festival though.
Avatar 5:23pm Irwin:

What instruments are they using?
Avatar 5:24pm Irwin:

< - BTW, that is Jack Webb. Supposedly had one of the greatest jazz record collections in Hollywood. Don't think he actually played, tho.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Webhamster Henry:

Skip LaPlante built a few of the stringed instruments like the Kithara years ago, some older pieces use adapted violas and guitars, and I programmed a synthesizer to be in Harry's tuning and sub for chromelodeon (decades ago). But I don't know which ones will be used in that show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Webhamster Henry:

(I used to play with them when I lived closer to the city). I was also their webhamster for many years.
Avatar 5:29pm V Priceless:

fine show, Irwin! thanks!
Avatar 5:29pm Irwin:

My pleasure, VP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Carmichael:

I understand the University of Washington has agreed to house the Partch collection. I have a daughter who will likely attend UW, so I see many surprise visits in her future.
Avatar 5:30pm Carmichael's Daughter:

Avatar 5:37pm Irwin:

  5:42pm fdurieux:

Any chance of slipping the Lynchmob remix of the tune 'Sun Ra' by the Belgian band Deus in the playlist?

Avatar 5:56pm Irwin:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Parq:

Dale, the guys at FUV probably first heard it when one of them was secretly listening to Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Parq:
