Options Brian Turner: Playlist from January 6, 2015 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Sup DCE? We got a smattering of snow last night, it was embarassing actually.
Avatar 3:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

people stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm DCE:

ha yeah, the hyped up world of weather...
Avatar 3:08pm βrian:

I once knew a woman who was born in Bad Axe and raised in Climax. (MI)
Avatar 3:08pm Cheri Pi:

I need to visit Bad Axe, MI.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Ike:

@RRN63 (cont'd from Liz's comments), yes, Sony has better sound qlty. than iPod, but Kenzo's suggestion of the Sansa Clip is even cheaper. It might sound better if you outfit it w/Rockbox, too (though some may find such jiggery-pokery baffling).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm cory:

Happy Dragon Band is f'ing weird. i dig that
Avatar 3:11pm Sem Chumbo:

Afternoon, Brian. Hello, Ike and other Turners.
Avatar 3:12pm Lopez:

What up, party people?
Sublime Frequencies jams are always welcome
Avatar 3:12pm PKNY:

@BT - you should've followed up Bad Axe with Kick Axe!

Avatar 3:13pm βrian:

"Don't axe me, bro!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 3:14pm Cecile:

Avatar 3:14pm Cheri Pi:

Missed opportunity. Cecile! whaddya know about Bad Axe, MI?
Avatar 3:15pm Cecile:

Maybe we drove through it once, dunno. Shows up in a lot of "silly town name" articles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Ike:

I ain't turning nothing unless you pay me, @Sem! If I had to be a Turner, I'd rather be Ted, despite the squeaky voice. (Or insert your own "I'm not Ike Turner" joke here; I don't know, I've gotta get back to work. Bye y'all!)
Avatar 3:15pm Cecile:

nope, never been there. Never get over to the thumb part of MI.
Avatar 3:16pm Cheri Pi:

That's too bad, it has potential.
Avatar 3:16pm Cecile:

what about Brian Turner? He's pretty cool.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Read somewhere Bowie wrote this 'about' the Dolls ??
Avatar 3:42pm northguineahills:

My wife told me that the original version of La Culebra was playing when Palacios was assassinated when he was running for president during the 80s.
  3:43pm Woo:

Saw the Bowie exhibit in Chicago. This would have been a fine addition.
  3:44pm Peanut Butter:

Is new James Williamson on todays playlist?
  3:44pm Leonoremio:

That cover song from Los discos Duro it is fucking awesome!! The original version was playing when Colosio (Mexican presidential candidate) was murdered...not Palacios
Avatar 3:51pm Polyus:

Tried to see the Bowie exhibit last Tuesday, sold out all the way through the end of the show on Sunday. CRAP.
  3:55pm bgoldnhamma:

I am really interested in the Shepp related biz you had mentioned about in Europe. For whatever it autobiographical memories are worth, I grew up on some of his albums and was excited to hear about a show related to his works!!
  3:55pm David jones:

Iggy has a ticket hangin'.

Avatar 5:21pm Brian Turner:

It's Ben Wallers from CT's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm drr:

  5:31pm Fred:

Is that Dave Nudelman backing Elisa on guitar?
Avatar 5:35pm Sem Chumbo:

Mind lightly blown by this, and that is not illusion. Jeez, BT, this is so great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Carmichael:

Was that Stingy doing a drive by? Yo, my bro!
  5:38pm Fashion Tashjian:

Insect Ark is fantastic, saw her live a few weeks ago opening for Gnaw. She's also a member of the Angels of Light.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Ken From Hyde Park:

A right spiffy show to start off the new year. I hope the rest sound this great.
  5:41pm Jeremy:

Nice Derbyshire sample! Size Queen cuts it up more than Die Antwoord did. "Ziwzih Ziwzih OO-OO-OO" this era's "UFO"...?
Avatar 5:42pm stingy d:

i drive slow. i thrive though.
Avatar 5:44pm Lopez:

And then, a beautiful piano piece appeared
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Carmichael:

Stingy, do you still have Gladys? It's been a while now.
Avatar 5:46pm TDK60:

Aha! I thought Insect Ark sounded Swans-ish and Angels of Light is a Swans sister unit, right?
  5:47pm gggg:

Avatar 5:50pm stingy d:

sure do! good old gladbag. 13 year old puppy
  5:55pm Fashion Tashjian:
