Hey Diane! Happy '15 to you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Happy New Year, fred, Diane and all. Got any Seuss books with you today?
Avatar 12:07pm SmokinJ:

Cheers, as it were...
Avatar 12:16pm DanH:

Happy New Year, Diane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Dead Rabbits' ?? 'Revolution' ?? What the hell is going on over here this year - ?!
...Who are these MC☆5 / Hawkwind entusiasts - ??...Pharoah Overlord !
...carry on...
Avatar 12:34pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

Is this "Revolution" a Spacemen 3 cover? It's great, whatever it is. Happy MMXV Diane!
Avatar 12:35pm Chris from DC:

Yep, it is. And Happy New Year
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- ah! Spacemen 3 - Cheers...
Avatar 12:39pm SmokinJ:

Mannix rules..
Avatar 12:40pm V Priceless:

Lalo away, DK! cool...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Shouldn't there be a Mannix movie by now?
Avatar 12:44pm Diane Kamikaze:

Happy New Year everyone!
Avatar 12:45pm Diane Kamikaze:

You're right, KenFHP, it should be time for a Mannix movie- or series, even. They could take episodes and drag them out for a good hour and a half - there's a franchise there for sure...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Rich in Washington:

this is a weird version of BLD. Is this a live version or something?
Avatar 12:48pm Diane Kamikaze:

Yes, it's live from one of their collections. I have the 12" at home, but the mood didn't strike me until I got to the station...which happens a lot! :)
Avatar 12:50pm fred:

I always thought The Dirtbombs' cover of Kung Fu was channeling that Bauhaus track. I'm probably wrong, but I believe it even more now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm common:

happy happy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Mister Vixen:

yaaaaaaaawn..... Happy New Year, everyone! :D
Avatar 1:03pm DanH:

Diane, thank you for not playing U2 today.
Avatar 1:08pm Diane Kamikaze:

Ha! DanH, that is a resolution I can take on for the rest of my life wholeheartedly! :)
Avatar 1:09pm DanH:

Yeah, Diane, I'd rather take Lemme over Bono any day.
Avatar 1:09pm SmokinJ:

Lemme brings it..
Avatar 1:10pm V Priceless:

lots o calories, those rich folk...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...freakin' great DJ DK!...
Avatar 1:17pm fred:

I loved U2, a long time ago. I don't now, obviously
Avatar 1:20pm V Priceless:

your secret is safe with us, fred...for the right price!
Avatar 1:26pm Diane Kamikaze:

I had their first 2 7"s, which I gave away to an ex. I have, from time to time thought about the value of those records, but c'est la vie...
Avatar 1:30pm Chris from DC:

2015 VOIVOD!

Avatar 1:34pm V Priceless:

Just missed an ebay auction for "Outer Limits" CD, complete w/3D glasses! Pretty rare, I think.
Avatar 1:35pm fred:

@V Priceless: the only price that matters is what I can give to the station. Diane is busy helping me cross things out from my expense list
Avatar 1:53pm V Priceless:

crazy extended set of madness and thunder! Way to kick it into gear for the new year, Diane! Thanks!
Avatar 1:54pm fred:

To put things in perspective, I loved U2 in my teenage years and saw them live 4 times (though my first live show was Depeche Mode). I've seen TG Gondard 15 times. And I'm more of a dance fan now, I've seen Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's company way more than that. 40 times, and that's not counting Cynthia Loemij's debut as a choreographer; and not counting anything related to my favorite dancer sounds wrong. I'd watch hear do anything
Avatar 2:22pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

@fred I intuit that a large proportion of WFMU listeners used to love U2 back in early-mid 80's (before "Rattle and Hum" went big). I certainly did. But it's a bit of a taboo around here (like the Grateful Dead?). I just completely lost interest in them (I honestly couldn't be bothered to spend the required 40 minutes listening to each new album), and so I find the vehement hatred of them in certain quarters quite interesting (there's so much more out there worthy of hatred, so why U2?).
Avatar 2:26pm V Priceless:

don't feed them, whatever you do...you'll never get rid of them!
Avatar 2:31pm fred:

@Canterbury Wood-elf: lost interest in them, that nails it. The hatred puzzles me too, but my interest in it is just as low
Avatar 2:33pm Chris from DC:

I don't really care about them except when they send me records without asking.
Avatar 2:36pm V Priceless:

what Chris from DC said. Some interesting stuff on their 1st LP, but after a while, for me at least, the rhythm section especially drives me mad.
Avatar 2:40pm DanH:

War, I think, is the only one that kinda still stands up, just because it's more angular than the others. Joshua Tree is really overrated and Achtung Baby is only of note because of the Flood and Eno production, but after that I can't really be bothered.
Avatar 2:42pm V Priceless:

I think Eno should employ them as his backing band and tour behind HIS first three or four solo records! Win/Win!
Avatar 2:45pm Chris from DC:

After the Circle cover of Here Come the Warm Jets, Eno should probably tour with them. I'd go see that.
Avatar 2:46pm Diane Kamikaze:

Oh Lord, I would too!!!!
Avatar 2:47pm V Priceless:

@ Chris from DC - I gotta hear that!

oohh..love The Skull record...woo!
Avatar 2:50pm fred:

@Chris from DC: I love that cover! But the last time I saw Circle was very underwhelming, so I'd probably spend the required 50+€ on something else, like the coming WFMU marathon
  2:51pm Lindsay:

Great hangover music
Avatar 2:52pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

Something to look out for in 2015 is a cover of Eno's "The Big Ship" on the forthcoming album from UK's chamber-folk ensemble Arlet. It's as if it were written for them.
Avatar 2:52pm JakeGould:

Happy New Year!
Avatar 2:53pm V Priceless:

thanx for the tip, tCw-e!
Avatar 2:55pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 2:55pm fred:

Let me know when it's ready, elf
Avatar 2:56pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

@fred It's at the mixing stage right now, I'm told, not sure of release date yet. Keep an eye on their website www.arlet.co.uk
Avatar 2:57pm DanH:

Is this the guy from Trouble singing?
Avatar 2:58pm V Priceless:

Thanks for the supersonic pate-cleansing, DK! All the bestest to ya for the year ahead!

@ DanH - yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

May you all have a sensational 2015. Matthew McConahagh is probably on that Mannix script as we speak.
Avatar 2:59pm DanH:

Thanks, V
