  4:53pm Dean:

There are some terrific alternative meanings of "slut" in OED: primarily, " A woman of dirty, slovenly, or untidy habits or appearance"; then "A kitchen-maid; a drudge"; and "A troublesome or awkward creature"; " A piece of rag dipped in lard or fat and used as a light"; and the compound "slut's wool n. the fluff or dust left on the floor, etc., by a sluttish servant or person."
Avatar 4:54pm cement_dawg:

yes, Fat City! Stockton, CA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Mike East:

goddamn netflix. What's the point of subscribing to the DVD service anymore if they don't even have everything I want available?...no Fat City.
Avatar 5:03pm Cecile:

the DVD might not still be in print
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Mike East:

its an ongoing trend with them, Cecile...DVD's that were once available are dropping off my queue. Just lost Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, too.
Avatar 5:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

alas, no Nakatani for me tonight: duty-bound to attend off-site holiday office party thing at yonder disco bar thing place. The black-market trading of drink tickets has already begun.
Avatar 5:07pm Cecile:

they rotate a lot. I wish they wouldn't do that.
I've learned there are sites that track their adds and drops, and that has been really helpful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Guido from Cologne:

Morricone impro group?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm adrian in mpls:

@polyus - the show at the white page? i was at that show too....loved it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Mike East:

@Cecile - hmm, that's good to know...do you have a link to such a site?
I also had it happen twice in the last month that they received my dvd on a Friday but didn't ship a new one out til monday, which really burns my biscuits.
Avatar 5:15pm Cecile:

I think everyone from Slate to Gawker is doing that now. I just Google "Netflix adds, December" or "Netflix drop, December." Hope this helps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Mike East:

It helps me, but I'm still annoyed at them. Thanks Cecile
Avatar 5:19pm Cecile:

I would be, too. Good luck.
  5:20pm GGG:

Perhaps expectations need to be managed. Their adds and drops are dependent on the studios and media companies they form licensing contracts with, so it's not all on Netflix. Service is pretty good, otherwise.
Avatar 5:21pm Cecile:

I agree, GGG. Sometimes it can be a little frustrating, though. But those add/drop lists are really helpful.
Avatar 5:24pm steve:

i guess Magic Fly is as close to disco as Fabio will get?
Avatar 5:25pm david_:

that's a sinister laugh!
Avatar 5:25pm Cecile:

Fabio likes more disco than you think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Mike East:

I was talking specifically about the DVD service...I may one of ten people who still get the DVD's in the mail.
Avatar 5:26pm Cecile:

they still rotate the streaming titles, though. It used to be you had better selection getting DVDs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm dale:

hi kids. someone just turned me on to ta great version of wham's ''last christmas" - i GUARANTEE even fabio would love it. it's just the original slowed down to 35 minutes in length but it's ethereal

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Guido from Cologne:

We yoing teenagers did not see Space as Disco but as electronic music ... how shall i say ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Mike East:

nice, dale!
Avatar 5:30pm steve:

id encourage everyone to watch the Magic Fly music video with the sound off www.youtube.com...
Avatar 5:31pm steve:

really Cecile??
Avatar 5:32pm Cecile:

yep, I don't know how it is now because I do streaming and don't maintain a queue anymore.

also, watch Flight of the Conchords's Bowie which nods to Space in a wonderful way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm northguineahills:

Thanks Steve!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm common:

ok this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm cklequ:

This whole Hystérie Off Music album is just great. Nobody plays Jazz, Soul and Country like Ghédalia Tazartès
Avatar 5:42pm βrian:

We do the DVD service. The turnaround has suddenly become glacially slow.
  5:42pm SeanG:

yeah this is hitting the spot
Avatar 5:42pm ironybread:

Does anyone know a source for listening to people of various nationalities speaking gibberish? I'd like to hear gibberish from around the world. I'm having trouble Googling the subject because I'm getting nothing but smoccahontas for my results (the woman who PRETENDS to be speaking gibberish in lots of foreign languages).

people still fish - and EAT what they catch! - off (what is left of) the piers here in Hoboken
and when I was in college (late 1970s/early 1980s) an engineering student who lived in the same apartment as me would go fishing in the RARITAN! and cook and eat what he caught -- GROSS!!! worse than the Hudson, IMHO
