hey Jim, hey Scotty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Carmichael:

Whoa, I'm here at the beginning. Hi Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm braveness23:

B23 here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm chris:

I'm with Joe on the "lick" preference.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm DCE:

soothing Fella
Avatar 3:07pm steve:

hey folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Oi Scott & gang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Scott Williams:

hey friends! anyone bring food? I'm hungry!

Avatar 3:12pm steve:

i had the best lunch - whitefish + pickle sandwich, ginger beer, face torching habanero potato chips. sorry Scott!
Avatar 3:12pm Chris from DC:

I hope you brought enough for everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm DCE:

crunchy Fella!
Avatar 3:14pm Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Scott, and Side B lovers all around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm DCE:

crunchy Lokkegaard?
Avatar 3:15pm βrian:

I have an extra rosemary/garlic grilled portobello sandwich on 8-grain brick-oven baked bread, with arugula and a little lime aioli — if that would help.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Ike:

What KIND of ginger beer? Maine Root, Ginger People, Reed's, Fentimans?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm DCE:

I just want these recorders blasting into my brain, please, nothing else
Avatar 3:18pm βrian:

Maine Root is good stuff. I especially like Blenheim's Red-Cap ginger, but they add schmutz to it, unfortunately.
  3:19pm r i s k y:

I saw a poet named Sparrow stand on a chair barefoot and play a bugged out diddy on his Tonette (like a Recorder). He both looked like and knew Kenny G.

It was the highlight of my weekend.
  3:19pm steve:

can't remember Ike, it was some obscure thing I've never hear of. From the great Eastern District shop in Greenpoint.
  3:21pm P-90:

Hi Scott and Playlisters. These tracks have a kinda different from what Joe B. was just playing. But: so easy to just flow from one to the next. Viva Freeform! (Didn't there used to be a singer named Viva Freeform? Or was she a stripper? Drag Queen? All three maybe?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm DCE:

ooh Centipede! awesome stuffs!
Avatar 3:22pm Chris from DC:

Crabbie's is good (alcoholic) ginger beer.
  3:23pm P-90:

@Chris: Crabbie's sounds good. Never see it here in NY/NJ.
Avatar 3:29pm βrian:

Sweet potato fries tonight. That's what I'm thinking… Sprinkled with sea salt and good balsamic vinegar. Yep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Company holiday party tonite. I assume there will be horz-doo-vers.
  3:37pm Dean:

Who's that playing 'bone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Scott Williams:

no 'bonist listed, so I guess it's Tyrone, tho he's a sax player
Avatar 3:40pm Fashion Tashjian:

Ooh, we're getting sexy.
  3:44pm Dean:

Hmmm. Is it possible it was the composer?
  3:45pm rw:

Do we like this Wm. Onyeabor thing or are 9 cd's too much?
  3:46pm rw:

Viva Freeform was my aunt.
  3:47pm rw:

She was a stripper, but we don't like to talk about it.
  3:47pm Dean:

[One site lists Grachan Moncur III as composer of "Universal Spiritual Revolt."]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Scott Williams:

Ack! Good catch @Dean - tracklisting is F'd. It was Moncur!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Scott Williams:

(tho Tyrone is listed as composer of Univ SpirVolt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Davis:

and he is a boneist
  3:52pm Dean:

Whew. Now I can sleep tonight. The trombone work sounded too good to represent a tenor sax player's lone foray.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Love it!
Avatar 3:55pm βrian:

What's a good cocktail to go with muted trumpet?
Avatar 3:55pm Bas NL:

Great first set Scott!
  3:56pm Dean:

Rusty Nail, good with muted anything, and mutes anything
Avatar 3:57pm βrian:

Enough of them, and it'll mutate you.
Avatar 3:58pm still b/p:

Ask the bartender for a "loosely muzzled Brass Monkey."
  3:58pm Dean:

Or give you tetanus.
Avatar 4:01pm βrian:

I've had my tinnitus shot. No worries.
Avatar 4:01pm steve:

oh noes... what kinda reverb unit was it?
Avatar 4:02pm βrian:

No studio surge protector??
  4:02pm Kevlicki:

Hi Scott
Avatar 4:03pm still b/p:

After 50 minutes on hold this afternoon, I reenrolled for the health coverage. I want a medal, a massage and an unmuzzled Irish whiskey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Scott Williams:

Hi Kevlicki! @brian, hahahahHAHAHAA!! what kind of a radio station do you think we are?
Avatar 4:03pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YAY, lovely track from the faust…
Avatar 4:04pm Fashion Tashjian:

  4:05pm Kevlicki:

joe McG was talking about that Onyeabor box set the other day. Sounds fun
Avatar 4:05pm βrian:

Surge protectors are **cheap**!
Avatar 4:06pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This LP was just JHP and Zappi, i think?
  4:06pm Dean:

Cheaper, I bet, than raccoon traps.
Avatar 4:09pm Sem Chumbo:

I'll be dropping the expression " 'bonist " into all future references to players of the instrument.
i.e. "Heard anything lately from "bonist Shorty?"
Thanks, Scott:-D
Avatar 4:10pm βrian:

Wasn't there an electrician just there for the Monty Hall renovation? A whole-studio surge protector would be $200 installed.
  4:10pm Dean:

Jack Bonus was a 'bonist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Scott Williams:

@Brian, don't worry - we do use protection. but, you know, nothing's 100% effective
  4:14pm Ghost of Christmas Future:

just encase FMU in one giant condom
Avatar 4:14pm βrian:

"A pound of prophylaxis ..."
Avatar 4:15pm βrian:

Er … "ounce."
Avatar 4:15pm Mugsy:

This is groovy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm chris:

Any surge protector would be limited to a drop or surge in current for a very small amount of time; if the surge or drop is large enough and long enough, stuff could still melt away to paperweight status... if my memory about such things serves me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm chris:

And this set is killer, Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Scott Williams:

aww, thanks Chris!
Avatar 4:21pm βrian:

Oh, hell yeah. Frank!
Avatar 4:22pm βrian:

Which is how I spell Fred ...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm dale:

  4:24pm CrimsonTide:

Slow your roll!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Matt from Springfield:

I was about to ask - is this the same Fred Lane! :)
His very own "take" on jive/old blues music!

Hi Scott and listeners!
  4:25pm Dean:

Helluva 'bonist here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Matt from Springfield:

Diddo dale, just came in and discovered this madness!
  4:26pm βrian:

I believe he plays the onan, as well.
Avatar 4:26pm Cecile:

I love this tune.
Avatar 4:26pm Sem Chumbo:

@dean: damn missed my chance to use new vocabulary:-(
Hey, de Matt fS.
Avatar 4:27pm Sem Chumbo:

Fred Lane reminds me of Kenny G. in full flight, minus the Big Band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Lewis:

yeah - gonna have to search out some Fred Lane!
  4:29pm r i s k y:

Yeah, that Fred Lane was zip zap zoodly doo
Avatar 4:29pm Chris from DC:

That Noir link is a goldmine.
  4:29pm Dean:

By fourth grade in the US, most kids are introduced either to the recorder or onan, sometimes to both. They graduate to 'bone a little later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm chris:

Upright air bass!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Matt from Springfield:

Hiya, le Sem sans Chumbo!

The new vocab is easy: the brass players are 'mpeters, 'bonists, and 'ubists, as well as 'zaphonists, 'ousaphonists, and sometimes 'phoniumists...
  4:31pm Dean:

Han Bennink is a 'mer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Matt from Springfield:

You ain't hep to this - and that's why we at FMU love it!

Great website there, lurve the old noirs, or any old classic films really. Watch 'em, with a bourbon 'n water, no ice.
Avatar 4:33pm Cecile:

wonderful sketch for the final Suction Prints.
Avatar 4:33pm Bas NL:

I got a free kazoo yesterday.. happily kazoo'ing along now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Matt from Springfield:

Hey Dean. "Onan"? That has some implications to it...!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Matt from Springfield:

  4:34pm Dean:

Credit where credit is due. βrian introduced it at 4:26. Couldn't have done it all by myself.
  4:35pm DonVan Vliet"":

"Stars are Matter/We are Matter/But it does'nt Matter"
Avatar 4:35pm Sem Chumbo:

Yep, the Captain on FMU again. This box set is getting heavy play. Good, I say.
Avatar 4:35pm Bas NL:

Hi Matt!

"Was you ever bit by a beefheart?" William Brennan wants to know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Stanley:

Avatar 4:37pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 4:37pm βrian:

Walter Brennan. Criminy.
Avatar 4:40pm still b/p:

"You know how to Walter, don't you, Steve?"
Avatar 4:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Crazy Uncle Al back there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Matt from Springfield:

Oh, so *you're* this Billy Joel everyone's been talking about!

First, let me say congrats to your great Spectorpop tribute "Say Goodbye To Hollywood". Second, let me say YOU CRASHED INTO MY LAWN! YER GONNA PAY YOU BASTUHD!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Greg from Bloomfield:

DOA was one of a paltry three movies on that list I've actually seen. Though to be fair, I've seen The Stranger like 6 times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Matt from Springfield:

The Hearty White gospel of singing what you're doing has caught on to Scott! Praise the Lord, and pass the beersies.
  4:53pm Dean:

No Christmas spectacular should be without Bill Evans' solo "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, this is like a Lou Reed side project!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm Matt from Springfield:
