A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Morning Folks. Whats up Common?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am Guido from Cologne:

I'm scared but I'm here.
Avatar 9:07am specksnyder:

Good morning everyone!
Avatar 9:07am pierre:

How do we actually grow a winter garden ?
I'm here and not scared, I mean what's gonna happen ?

Bonjour Trouble and Trublions !
Avatar 9:08am specksnyder:

I have a bunch of wilted kale that failed to withstand last week's snow. Don't know if that counts as a winter garden, tho.
Avatar 9:08am Sem Chumbo:

Enter, the Chumbo, with five fists of fury. Ooops, too many Bruce Lee flicks.
Hiya, Trouble, and the ttroubled here, there and everywhere.
Hey, common!

Bom dia & good morning Trouble and fellow listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am listener james from westwood:

Happy Tuesday, Trouble and all! I love the sound of Bebey in the morning.
Avatar 9:19am specksnyder:

Ooh, Bebey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Ken From Hyde Park:

Hello and good morning.
Avatar 9:22am specksnyder:

Howdy, Ken!
Avatar 9:23am bobdoesthings:

good morning all
Avatar 9:23am specksnyder:

Trouble, is that a rock or a rotten apple with "third" written on it at the base of today's art?
  9:28am marmalade kitty:

Avatar 9:34am OTB:

xen="shen." I'm pretty sure.
  9:36am Kevlicki:

Trouble, I've been listening to Miles the autobiography audiobook lately, some interesting insight and history on all those blues and jazz "cats" of the 40'/50's
  9:37am r i s k y:

This rattlesnake daddy tracks got me slapping my boots!

Avatar 9:39am Trouble:

i can imagine kevlicki: love to hear stories about the jazz world of yore
Avatar 9:41am Trouble:

specksnyder: that is elephant dung, and it says third eye. Today's art is by chris ofili! just saw his show at the new museum and it was outstanding! go if you can
Avatar 9:43am pierre:

this kimekai is doing better to my headache than the aspirin I took earlier
Avatar 9:44am duke:

kimekai sounds perfect
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am Parq:

What Pierre and Duke said.
  9:45am Kevlicki:

It's entertaining having it read to me. Cos Davis describes everyone as a "mothafucka", and it's always in an complimentary way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Ken From Hyde Park:

Is there anything elephant dung can't do?
  9:47am Kevlicki:

Its unusual to hear used so frequently and not as derogatory
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am braveness23:

B23 here! Good morning Trouble! I am giving thanks that Thanksgiving is over.
Avatar 9:52am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Good morning Trouble and the League of Listeners. I like today's art and may just have to go to the New Museum, as I have not even been there yet. Isn't that sad?
Avatar 9:56am Trouble:

bom dia fernando belmondo! i LOVE my treats from brasil! thanks so much for thinking of me. and dj icepack has been enjoying them also!
Avatar 9:56am bobdoesthings:

the new museum opened 7 years ago.. when do you think they're going to change its name to just 'museum" ?
Avatar 9:57am Marcel M:

I've never been there either ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ! Though I walk by it very often...
Avatar 9:58am V Priceless:

mornin' gang! cool DB track!
  9:58am Kevlicki:

@bobdoesthings and it's been around for almost 30 years!
Avatar 10:00am bobdoesthings:

@kevlicki well I know nothing and just googled it.. so there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am Guido from Cologne:

Avatar 10:03am Marcel M:

It moved to its new NEW Museum location 7 years ago. So you were close Bob
  10:03am Kevlicki:

@bobdoesthings wasn't intending to sound condescending, just amused by your humor and adding to it.
Avatar 10:03am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Oh MY GOD. I knew this song before you posted the title. PIRATE JENNY is one of my favorite songs for obvious reasons. It's great to hear it in German, but I still think Nina Simone's version is fantastic and deadly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@Kevlicki: Miles' autobiog a must read. 'What are you doing in my car?' has became a catchphrase. ; )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am Greg from Bloomfield:

Morning, Trouble! Morning, gang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am sugarwolf:

Juliette Greco did a version of Pirate Jenny in French which is also great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am Adrian in London:

Morning Trouble, morning all. @Kevlicki The Ian Carr biography of Miles is very good too. The London DJ/writer Robert Elms once interviewed Miles and was told he could speak to him for 10 seconds. He quickly asked a question, Miles answered with a curt: "No", and that was that!
Avatar 10:08am bobdoesthings:

@kevlicki no sweat. I'm never too serious
Avatar 10:09am bobdoesthings:

but in all seriousness.. Naming anything "The new" is just bad planning..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am Adrian in London:

This Julien Gasc track is great. I see he's played with Laetitia Sadier, you can sort of hear that. Sadly he only released 120 copies of this album on vinyl and they're all gone.
  10:10am r i s k y:

Oh this track mixed with the high levels of caffeine in my system.

  10:11am Kevlicki:

It's a period of Significant cultural history that I know the names from, finally checking out his autobiography is a great education on the chronology and musical relationships of the most incredible jazz artist. I'm really enjoying it. I really respect Davis' racial consciousness, politics and how much of a bad ass he was!
Avatar 10:11am βrian:

Nous voilà dans le grand bois. Bonjour.
Avatar 10:13am pierre:

@Adrian : Can't you buy them at the Born Bad online record shop ??
Avatar 10:13am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

@sugarwolf: thanks! I will check out Juliette Greco en francais.
Avatar 10:16am Marcel M:

Go Arthur go!
  10:16am josh:

this is the worst sound my ears have ever heard
Avatar 10:17am Marcel M:

I'm lovin' it Josh
  10:17am matt:

Very well put, Trouble.
Avatar 10:17am duke:

Arthur Doyle expresses how I feel about everything.
Avatar 10:17am βrian:

I can almost imagine this during Kenny G and his hour of french bread.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am SeanG:

Arthur rocks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am Adrian in London:

@pierre Yes. Yes you can. I was looking at the private pressings listing on Doscogs.
Avatar 10:19am duke:

This is what I love about WFMU julien gasc -> arthur dotle in one move
  10:21am Kevlicki:

Josh, that's freeform radio for ya. Every once in awhile I gotta lower the volume for a song...
I love wfmu tho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am Ken From Hyde Park:

"He who dies with the most toys wins." --- That would make a great bumper sticker.
Avatar 10:22am Trouble:

the new museum is still apt as a title as it is a museum that shows new art, which i guess is an oxymoron
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am common:

my brother used to play this blue nile record all the time. sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Adrian in London:

The Blue Nile. Ahhhh. This is why I donate to WFMU.
  10:25am josh:

oh yeah, i wasn't referring to wfmu in general. i've been listening pretty much every day for the last ~5 years, but that arthur doyle thing was...tough
Avatar 10:25am duke:

"He who dies with the most toys is still dead."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am adrian in mpls:

the quick morning check in to say hi everyone!
Avatar 10:27am bobdoesthings:

@duke... unless they're buried with all their toys. .then they get to play for eternity in the afterlife. and continue to flaunt their toys to the poor bastards who didn't collect..
Avatar 10:28am specksnyder:

he who dies with most toys is most likely buried in toys
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am sphere:

hello - it was the DUB sound that drew me thither....
Avatar 10:29am duke:

So the Egyptian pharaohs had the right idea after all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am sphere:

does that mean your record collection follows you into eternity?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am Greg from Bloomfield:

Damn straight. That is why my will stipulates that my coffin is to be filled with Koosh balls and old GI Joes.
Avatar 10:33am βrian:

As for the records, my friends will play skeet with them, over my grave.
Avatar 10:36am bobdoesthings:

@brian - you're not going to throw a crazy afterlife dance party? what a waste to give to your living friends while all the dead are at a lack of listening parties and dancing...
Avatar 10:37am βrian:

Play it one last time, then "whoosh," into the ether.
Avatar 10:38am OTB:

Cha Cha should cover "Cha Cha Cha"
  10:50am walking with trouble.:

the rain is about to start. so nice taking a walk with you in the drizzle.
Avatar 10:54am Marcel M:

Hey Trouble, is that Las Malas Amistades on that 7 inch box set thing?
  10:54am Greg Red:

Great Africaine 808 video for "Lagos, New York" which I think is the right name of this track. Thanks for playing, Trouble.

Avatar 10:55am Trouble:

@marcel: my copy of las malas amistades is a promo thang i got at honest jons in london long ago, so i dont know about the box, but i love everything i have ever heard by them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Priscilla:

@josh - must agree with you — I took out my earbuds when he started screaming. Back in now, though!
Avatar 10:57am Trouble:

thanks greg red! awesome!
Avatar 10:57am Marcel M:

@Trouble: Ah. I bought that a while back based on the packaging and was happily surprised. Haven't thought about it in years.
Avatar 11:04am Dominick:

Chris! Yes!
Avatar 11:06am bobdoesthings:

I hate when it goes all wonka-doodle..
Avatar 11:07am βrian:

"… son gorge couleur rouille…"
I could listen to that all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am steve:

hey Trouble! love the show today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Adrian in London:

@trouble So does that mean that on non-reporting weeks the artists don't get paid for airplay?
  11:13am david bowie:

Hear me correctly pronounce my name https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Udrvt5cvzc
Avatar 11:13am duke:

Definite crowd pleaser, although the only crowd here is me and Gizmo the cat. He approves too.
Avatar 11:13am d¢ pät:

crowd pleased. Listen that ultra-back-there bass on this....
  11:14am a crowd:

Pleased. Very very pleased. There is dancing.
Avatar 11:14am βrian:

Fino says yo to Gizmo.
Avatar 11:14am duke:

The trojan sixties box set is great
Avatar 11:15am duke:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am fleep:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Greg from Bloomfield:

Jennie The Cat aka Dread Lion aka RANKING KITTEH has a cone on this week. It's the worst.

Avatar 11:27am TDK60:

Good to stop in to hear, if only for a short visit, have to soon run.
Avatar 11:28am Trouble:

not exactly sure how that works adrian...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Guido from Cologne:

vashti strill sounds like a teenager.
the interview on shrunken planet two weeks ago is worth checking
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am robyn:

Avatar 11:35am Trouble:

thanks for all the good vibes, today peeps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx Trouble for the infallibly outstanding playlists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Guido from Cologne:

though that interview looses in jeffrey describing his view of the music situation nowadays and vashti is just replying "yes, you are so right ..." ... hehehe
Avatar 11:40am pierre:

and, for a complement of informations, the guy that did "Atelier Méditerranée" is David, the lead singer from Cheveu, famous on the Born Bad label.
Avatar 11:41am danjoseph:

I think it's pronounced "La-skill", just sayin'...nice track!
Avatar 11:41am βrian:

Ruggy music was finished by 1980, more or less. Such potential, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I like DJ JD's conversational interview style: his interviews are a treasure all their own - but that *might* be a worthy critique...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Guido from Cologne:

Who are those Born Bad people?
That WIZZZ #2 is a killer comp!
  11:42am r i s k y:

Stoked for Organation this weekend! Hope to see ya thurrrr trouble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Guido from Cologne:

U-Roy went and Maciua Griffits and John Holt remained ... so to say.
Avatar 11:54am Sem Chumbo:

Thanks, Trouble, head down and mouth shut most of the time, but your show was music to my ears:-P
