Good morning Jeffrey!
When will the Vashti interview be up?
Avatar    Sat. 11/22/14 6:14am BEAVO:

Good morning. Bob Carpenter interesting, lived in voice.
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 6:15am Jeffrey Davison:

Vashti interview will air in the 8-9:00 hour. It runs about 51 minutes.
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 6:15am ghostofpeterfalk:

Good morning Jeffrey. Great start to your show. Very much looking forward to Vashti Bunyan. I lived in Scotland for 12 years and saw her play in Glasgow in early 2007. Her speaking and singing voice give me shivers. A beautiful new record too. Enjoy your conversation.
Avatar    Sat. 11/22/14 6:15am Sem Chumbo:

Good morning, Jeffrey and GfC. Hiya, BeaVo. Diggin' the show's lovely start.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 6:22am Brian in UK:

Hello Jeffrey. What-ho Sem, gopf (I have a Peugeot too, the electronics are ghostly).
Avatar    Sat. 11/22/14 6:28am Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Brian. Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, I suppose. Peugot? The French ought to stick to cheese, it is sufficiently anarchic without building motor cars.
Avatar    Sat. 11/22/14 6:32am BEAVO:

Got the complete set of Basement Tapes, great stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 6:35am Brian in UK:

The car is great just the electronics. I turn the ignition on, it reads 'electronic ignition failure. Put the handbrake on 'Brake fluid low' Not a good selling point. It has done 180,000 miles though.
@BEAVO is it worth the admission fee? Any Danko singing?
Avatar    Sat. 11/22/14 6:54am Sem Chumbo:

I truly hate electronics in cars.Give me a ride which can be repaired with spit, baling wiring and inspired invective.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 6:57am Brian in UK:

Lucinda's voice is taking some getting used to on this album.
I always associated Compassion with her early work. This is one of her Dad's poems set to music.
Avatar    Sat. 11/22/14 6:58am BEAVO:

There is a Danko lead vocal version of One too Many Mornings. And a lot of backing vocals. I thought I had about everything on boots for years but there is quite a bit more not mentioned in the books. The sound quality is improved. Except the extra disc. Which is the rawer stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 7:06am Brian in UK:

Thanks BEAVO.
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 7:25am TDK60:

Good to be here this late November morn; looking forward to the Vashti B. interview.
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 7:32am TDK60:

Briggs and Drake. Of course!
  Sat. 11/22/14 7:33am Mark:

That Nick Drake one is an old favorite of mine. I have to say, "Shrunken Planet" is one of my favorite shows, week in and week out. This is the right vibe for early Saturday morning (or VERY late Friday night) for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 7:37am dale:

loving this set. never heard of tudor lodge before.
  Sat. 11/22/14 7:38am Alan Clark:

Lovely mix of sounds - for a Saturday lunchtime in Borehamwood, near London
  Sat. 11/22/14 7:41am Mark:

You're not the Alan Clark from the Hollies, are you?!
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 7:42am TDK60:

...And the Trees, June Tabor, Fairport C. all sound great. A real British Isles feel here this cold NYC day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 7:47am dale:

has renaissance, either relf version or second iteration seen any love on this show?
  Sat. 11/22/14 7:47am Alan Clark:

No, not that one I'm afraid. His surname is Clarke with an e. I'm not the keyboard player for Dire Straits either I'm afraid. My only claim to fame is as a punk poet on Tyneside see http:/www.apclark.com
  Sat. 11/22/14 7:48am jlowe:

cold morning here in N.Y....beautiful set, especially loving Miriam....her voice stands out...the emotion...k haven't had my 2nd cup of you know what
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 7:49am Brian in UK:

Hello Alan, I am in Watford. Miserable day, good music.
  Sat. 11/22/14 7:50am Mark:

Knew you weren't him, Alan--just messing with you. Your site is cool, btw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 7:51am Brian in UK:

@jlowe Grog?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 7:53am dale:

there was a female version of this on one of your premiums. love this song, sad, deep...
  Sat. 11/22/14 7:53am jlowe:

Brian, groggy yes...: )
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 8:02am TDK60:

Checked your site, Alan C. Interesting. Among other things, you're anti-nuke; me too. Recall when they used to call us "kooks"?
  Sat. 11/22/14 8:04am Mark:

He seems like a very cool, interesting fellow TDK. We have a lot in common. Yes, we were kooks--then the Japanese built a nuclear reactor on a fault line on the shores of the Pacific. What could go wrong? No more sushi for me. (I preferred TDK90's myself--one album per side.)
  Sat. 11/22/14 8:06am Alan Clark:

Vashti Bunyan's renaissance in the UK began when her music was used in a mobile phone advert on TV in 2006. She's officially a Geordie as she was born in Newcastle on Tyne, although she only lived there for six months
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 11/22/14 8:08am Sullivan Ballou:

Nice surprise this interview Jeff! Many thanks! You have a great interview style too btw.
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 8:08am highlowe:

love hearing Vashti
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 8:12am TDK60:

Mark: Oh, I like 90 min. too. Yeah, two albums can fit if not too long, like many albums since CDs went up to 60-, 75 min. 60 min. are good for short mix tapes, eh? Also do like 90 min. mix tapes.
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 8:17am TDK60:

Are there still Travellers in England?
  Sat. 11/22/14 8:17am Alan Clark:

I got heavily involved in the antinuke movement in the UK in the late 70s/early 80s. I protesed about the Torness power station, but I was also in the CND, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmanent. I had a lot of nightmares about a nuclear attack. I guess many of us did - including Bob Dylan of course.
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 8:19am TDK60:

Alan, yes there were many UK punk songs about nukes-- both nuke power and bombs. Also pop; recall XTC's 'Living Through Another Cuba'?
Avatar    Sat. 11/22/14 8:24am Sem Chumbo:

Gotta hand it to Jeffrey. Well prepared, not intrusive. It is almost like he has done this before:-D.
Wonderful entirely. Thanks.
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 8:27am TDK60:

Great interview; off to work, will check the rest later via archive.
  Sat. 11/22/14 8:28am Alan Clark:

I do recall some XTC songs, but not that one. My real introduction to the subject was seeing 'The War Game' , a film by Pater Watkins which was banned by the BBC, but shown on the alternative cinema circuit. Watkins' work is still controversial. Did you ever see 'Punishment Park', shot in the desert in California?
  Sat. 11/22/14 8:33am Moe:

saw Vashti play at the old South Paw in brooklyn, great show... love the interview...
Avatar Sat. 11/22/14 8:35am Jeffrey Davison:

Great little club, Southpaw. Not sure why they closed, but there are now several music venues in Park Slope.

@ tØɗɗ: a simple "hello, Dali" would suffice. Good morning to you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 11/22/14 8:55am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...huh - I was just thinking DJ JD has a unique Interview style here - an interesting compare/contrast to say Terry Gross - 50+ minutes very conversational - not like Interviews I hear anywhere else I can point right to top of my head...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Sat. 11/22/14 8:55am Brian in UK:

No substitute for a live performance.
  Sat. 11/22/14 8:56am Mr C:

Congratulations on interview with Vashti Bunyan....what a delightful surprise to wake to today. Big fan of hers.
