Hippie Priest, good call Diane!

Avatar 12:05pm Cecile:

Alert Scott Williams!
Avatar 12:05pm V Priceless:

Hey Diane! Let's destroy stuff today! Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Stevel:

Hail Priest!

[throwing horns at work]
  12:06pm matt:

This is starting things off rightly.
Avatar 12:06pm Chris from DC:

Hell yes
Avatar 12:06pm Claw!:

Thanks, Diane!
Avatar 12:08pm tØɗɗ:

Avatar 12:09pm Claw!:

Which is kinda funny because I was thinking to myself this morning that I hadn't heard you play Priest in a really long time. You sure showed me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Stevel:

tØɗɗ: You also rule.

Always strange but cool to hear the non-live version.
Avatar 12:10pm MenfussMike:

Who do you like more: Priest or Maiden?
Avatar 12:11pm Cecile:

this is also really a heartbreaking song about addiction. In addition to it TOTALLY ROCKING
Avatar 12:11pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:12pm Claw!:

Goddamn, if Halford and Co. really aren't THE honest-to-goodness Metal Gods. I love these guys.
  12:12pm matt:

Rob actually pulled off the scream pretty well when I saw them last.
Avatar 12:12pm Chris from DC:

Now you've done it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Stevel:

Priest and Maiden are different. That's what I like about both of them. Early Scorpions, even.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm chris:

Turn it up! Yes!
Avatar 12:13pm Cecile:

Halford is a freak of nature. What a voice.

I like early Maiden and even up to later Scorps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Rich in Washington:

I'm sensing a theme...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Stevel:

Diane. Please get tout of my head. That unexpected shift is working perfectly with my mood and experiences today.

On second thought, hang out for a while.
Avatar 12:14pm Cecile:

Ok, now we need Bloodrock DOA. that would be the downer trifecta.
Avatar 12:14pm MenfussMike:

I would take Priest over Maiden
Avatar 12:14pm PKNY:

Just picked up "Soma" on vinyl a few days ago, Windhand has been getting a lot of play recently.
  12:14pm ?:

I'm going to see Judas Priest on Saturday!! Yay & Hello!
Avatar 12:15pm Claw!:

@matt - YES! Halford still sounds amazing. Best vocalist in metal to this day. I was hoarse for almost a whole week trying to scream along with him this last tour.
Sorry, y'all got me fangirling over Priest now. I gotta chill out.
Avatar 12:15pm Cecile:

have fun ?, they put on a great show no matter where they play.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Stevel:

Actually, later (mid-80) Scorpions was a blessing to have on mainstream rock stations. Many times, the radio in the darkroom would max out on Hurricane. It beat the crap out of most other stuff on the air.
Avatar 12:16pm Claw!:

? - Brace youself. That shit is gonna make you cream.
Avatar 12:16pm PKNY:

My order of preference: Di'Anno Maiden > Point of Entry and prior Priest > Dickinson Maiden > Screaming for Vengance and beyond Priest
Avatar 12:16pm Cecile:

I f'ing love Rock You Like A Hurricane. I was in full blown free jazz/SST mode, but I owned that single and often played it on my show. hahaha
Avatar 12:16pm extinct_species:

Hello Cecicle! "?" was me lol I forgot to enter name... (it's actually back stage cus of friends that knows a friend kind of deal!) SO excited lol
Avatar 12:16pm Chris from DC:

Wow, yeah, I'd definitely go see Priest. Never had the chance.
Avatar 12:17pm PKNY:

I saw Priest in '90, they did "Grinder" 2 songs in. Crossed an item off my bucket list at a fairly young age.
Avatar 12:17pm Cecile:

I would be dying with excitement.

I saw Halford play to less than 100 people at a casino in his solo days, and he was astounding. It was like he was at Wembly.
Avatar 12:17pm Cecile:

Wembley. oy
Avatar 12:18pm Claw!:

I die.
Avatar 12:18pm tØɗɗ:

@Stevel agreed, and Sabbath of course. How about Highway Robbery?! Diane do you have Highway Robbery "Fifteen"?
  12:18pm Don S:

VOC and Orchard back to back????!!!! HAIL!!!
Avatar 12:19pm Cecile:

I would tell you to make out with Glenn Tipton for me, extinct, but that is so wrong on so many levels.
Avatar 12:19pm extinct_species:

I am SO beside my self... I hope I don't get silly star struck face.. I mean thi sis the band that popped my Metal cherry lol
Avatar 12:19pm PKNY:

And the Scorpions: I've only discovered the Uli-era stuff a few years ago, how did I miss out. And the first Scorps record w/ Michael Schenker sounds like if Sabbath circa the first record went really prog.
Avatar 12:19pm extinct_species:

@Cecicle hahahah will try!
Avatar 12:20pm PKNY:

@Cecile - What that you in Heavy Metal Parking Lot? :)
Avatar 12:20pm Cecile:

Well, if you're down with it. hahahhaaha
Avatar 12:20pm MenfussMike:

I did not care for anything Scorpions did post-Blackout
Avatar 12:20pm Cecile:

No, because I always knew Rob Halford was gay, even when he wasn't out. hahahah
Avatar 12:21pm extinct_species:

@PKNY - re: Scorpions.. gotta luv animal magnetism, after that it's ok..
Avatar 12:21pm Cecile:

damn, now you have blackout going through my head.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm sphere:

hello all
Avatar 12:21pm Cecile:

what is it Leslie says in Parks and Rec? "I am going to make out with your face now."
Avatar 12:23pm Claw!:

Actually, Cecile, I think she says, "PRIEST RULEZ OK"
Avatar 12:24pm Cecile:

hahhahahaha, I think Priest is a little heavy for her.
Avatar 12:24pm Claw!:

...or maybe that's me. Yeah, that's me. sorry.
  12:24pm r i s k y:

Hey Diane! Hey All! Lets give Thursday Hell!!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm sphere:

oops - "noisy lucidity" lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Stevel:

tØɗɗ: I am not familiar with Highway Robbery. Must investigate. Thanks.

We used to listen to Priest/Scorpions/Triumph/Rush (yeah, I know) on monthly 17-hour drives from Denver to LaCrosse Wis. Long story. Dope and coffee usually saw three of us through. Sucked when it snowed.
Avatar 12:32pm Mugsy:

Avatar 12:32pm Fashion Tashjian:

Avatar 12:33pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:33pm Chris from DC:

  12:34pm hey!:

that Indian cut was real good! none of that weak ass twee college radio metal crap for Diane no fuckin way. eowie! play some of Government Issue's more heavy stuff like Vanity Fare live and shove the MTV-U generation a message Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Stevel:

I have a picture of the Die Kreuzen singer's tonsils. Not a difficult shot to get, really. They used to play Madison WI frequently, often with hardcore bands, parts of whom became Killdozer.
Avatar 12:35pm Cecile:

I like twee and metal. You just gotta commit which a lot of bands don't do.

And good call on GI.
Avatar 12:36pm Claw!:

Twee and metal, eh? Like Babymetal?
Avatar 12:36pm Cecile:

Or the Darkness.
Avatar 12:36pm Claw!:

Ah, yes. I see what you mean now.

Avatar 12:40pm V Priceless:

Avatar 12:40pm Claw!:

I really don't know much about Babymetal, but the name alone makes me chuckle.
Avatar 12:41pm Cecile:

talk to the Kuma's Corner guys

that is great.

One year Arwulf and I on CBN played pigs squealing and slaughterhouse noises and 20s blues songs about food.
Avatar 12:42pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:42pm Mugsy:

Excercise music like We Destroy The Family or workout music like Crusher Destroyer, although John Cage is good too.
Avatar 12:44pm Claw!:

Diane, I know you don't really do requests, but I will respectfully implore you to play the Damned's "Turkey Song" next week. If you don't, I'm not sure who else will. :-/
Avatar 12:45pm V Priceless:

DK - perhaps some 'Mr. Creosote' sound...ahem...bites next week?
Avatar 12:46pm Cheri Pi:

Diane! Cecile! All o-the-rest-o-you!
Avatar 12:47pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 12:47pm Cecile:

YUSS! Voivod!
Avatar 12:47pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 12:47pm Claw!:

  12:48pm matt:

I actually got this one for a dollar.
Avatar 12:48pm GeesyCreesy:

  12:49pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

Can someone explain what it is about Voivod that attracts such devotion? They sound pretty rockin', admittedly but what is it that elevates them to a higher plane?
Avatar 12:50pm Cecile:

I love Snake's voice. Also, their lyrics are smart, and their guitar tone sounds like no one else.
Avatar 12:51pm Cheri Pi:

They have a totally unique sound.
Avatar 12:51pm Chris from DC:

Cool, been in a Thin Lizzy mood lately.
Avatar 12:51pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:52pm V Priceless:

plus, they mix it up alot in terms of styles, IMO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Rich in Washington:

weird, Diane! I had just rediscovered this song, having fondly remembered it from my teenage hard rock radio listening years.
Avatar 12:52pm extinct_species:

damn it I missed voivod! Paper jams suck!
  12:53pm matt:

They have changed a ton over the years but still retained a signature. . .vibe, I guess you could say. Not easy to do.
  12:54pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

What's a good album to start my Voivoid exploration with then?
Avatar 12:54pm Cecile:

they never got cheesy. Few bands in their league can say that.

I like their first one Killing Technology, and well, their 14th one Katorz - which kind of sounds like the Saints IMO.
Avatar 12:55pm extinct_species:

I"m itching fro some mercyful fate
Avatar 12:56pm Cheri Pi:

You can;t go wrong with the first 4 albums
Avatar 12:57pm V Priceless:

Avatar 12:58pm MenfussMike:

I bought Fate's "Melissa" album when it came out. I was in 8th grade. I took it into religion class to show the kid seating next to me 'Look, King Diamond is pictured in an upside down cross" My teach, Mrs. Peters, took it up from me. After religion class I went up to her and asked her if I could have it back. She said "NO!".

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm chris:

Avatar 1:04pm Cecile:

I like that they're telling a story, and I like their vox.
Avatar 1:04pm MenfussMike:

extinctspecies....how Christian of you. Both King's would approve
  1:04pm Jim:

  1:04pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

I'm kind of hearing a po-faced Canadian Cardiacs here (sorry Voivoid fans!). I think this will require more extensive immersion (listening to Diane every week should suffice).
Avatar 1:05pm Cheri Pi:

Eating smoked almonds while chewing to VOivod is the best!
  1:05pm Jim:

That is some awkward timing chewing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm SeanG:

I'm eating almonds too and in a library-haha
Avatar 1:06pm Cheri Pi:

Twinsies SeanG!
Avatar 1:06pm Cecile:

I'm eating raw almonds. The Voivod is way more fun than these.
Avatar 1:07pm Jim:

I always forget my damn password...
Avatar 1:07pm V Priceless:

Avatar 1:07pm extinct_species:

@Jim: Password overload?
Avatar 1:08pm Claw!:

DUDES. I'm eating almonds, too. What the hell? Is there some subliminal almond-eating message in all this rock?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm chris:

was reading the other day some raw almonds from a major outlet were recalled recently due to high levels of naturally occurring cyanide... go easy on dem almonds, y'all :-)
Avatar 1:08pm Cecile:

We're all trying to put off lunch until Diane's show is done.
Avatar 1:09pm Jim:

Yes!! Now all these sites want you to put a capitalized letter and a couple of numbers..fo I forget which ones..I can't keep up...ha
Avatar 1:09pm Jim:

but enough of that..I am here now
  1:09pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

And you almond eaters are apparently "sucking California dry" according to the BBC, so chew on that...
Avatar 1:10pm Cecile:

remember when Wojo on Barney Miller survived cyanide poisoning because he ate so many apples seeds and all?
Avatar 1:10pm Jim:

Avatar 1:10pm Cheri Pi:

Does anyone else wear an adult diaper during DK's show too? Solidarity!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm chris:

Avatar 1:11pm Claw!:

@Cheri - No diapers for me. I just let it rip. Nothing more metal than that.
Avatar 1:12pm Cecile:

nope, I wait for her to play some prog, and then I tear off to the can.
Avatar 1:12pm Cecile:

some weeks are easier than others.
  1:12pm matt:

Uh oh, me too on the almonds. Hope the cyanide just gets absorbed by all the other nasty things I ingest.
Avatar 1:12pm Cheri Pi:

thanks for the almond warning chris.
  1:13pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

OK, I'm out. Thanks for the recommendations, and röck ön!
Avatar 1:13pm Cecile:

yeah, do they know which manufacturers are having that problem?
Avatar 1:13pm Claw!:

Phew! Good thing I'm too poor to shop at Whole Foods.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm SeanG:

yeah thanks Chris!
Avatar 1:15pm Cecile:

was it Whole Foods? I get mine from Target, whew. I guess. There is a reason I eat raw almonds - they are boring and there is no compelling taste that makes me over eat them.
Avatar 1:15pm Jim:

I show up late and miss a double blast of Voivod and Die Kreuzen? Holy Hell...
Avatar 1:16pm Cecile:

Oooh, now I have to start eating roast almonds. I don't want to get salmonella.
