Hello Irwin, hello all.
  3:03pm Listening Out There:

Great program so far...
Avatar 3:04pm Sem Chumbo:

Excellent advice: *Never Lose Your Head* Now, if only draft beer could read, this would be most useful.
Hiya, Irwin, and e12, one of my favourite vitamins.
Avatar 3:04pm Roberto:

The Perfect Song!
  3:04pm listener popsicornia:

I'm losing my head!! I'm losing my head!!!
Avatar 3:06pm Mugsy:

Hey guys hope all is well.
  3:08pm Listening Out There:

Predates Spinal Tap, believe it or not...
  3:10pm V Priceless:

Hey Irwin! God, love this Move stuff!! Thanks!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Irwin:

Lead singer left, band became ELO.
  3:11pm V Priceless:

Was just Roy Woods birthday last week. RIP Carl Wayne. Awesome band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Irwin:

Awesome drums -- Bev Bevan
  3:13pm V Priceless:

Yes! Bev The Basher!
Avatar 3:15pm Clark Nova:

doubling bomb power does not always double destruction, sometimes it triples it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- phone call - missed TheMove!
...Don't start rumors!...If you were near those closed windows & the blast covered you in shattered glass, people may think you're just being dramatic anyhow...
Avatar 3:20pm Jeff:

I'm improbably charmed by the Roches' description of this practical winter outerwear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Mike East:

I'm going to write a song about my long underwear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Irwin:

SIX SURVIVAL SECRETS! Which ones are secret?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...that's why you draw the blinds...
  3:23pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

Didn't Spinal Tap have a long fusion piece called "Jazz Odyssey"?
Avatar 3:23pm still b/p:

"Pick 6" Survival lottery game.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Webhamster Henry:

You won't believe these six A-bomb survival tips! #4 is especially good!
  3:23pm Robert:

What Clark Nova wrote is true of small bombs, but not large ones (like atomic ones).
Avatar 3:24pm Sem Chumbo:

*Know your Own Home* I'm good, unless a nuclear attach coincides with "Black-out and Bar-b-q" Night at the Bunghole Tavern. I foresee something of a kerfufel ensuing, if that is the case.
Avatar 3:25pm Sem Chumbo:

It is in fact, Blackout and Bar-B-Q Night right now at the Tavern:-(
  3:26pm Robert:

Up to a point, the effect of an explosion is greater than linear for its power, but past that point it becomes much less than linear.
Avatar 3:26pm still b/p:

Myth 3: "In most atom raids..."
How many is "most" out of the two that ever happened?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Radiocativity is not the bomb's biggest threat! - unless it's the Neutron bomb - than it is...blast & heat are your *friends*...More BBQ than you can psosibly imagine, sortsfans...Hiroshima's 14 kiloton A-Bomb ain't but the trigger for a 200-megaton H-Bomb. I'm not sure *anyone* understands what that would be like...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& there are *thousands* of them...
  3:32pm Robert:

No, even for neutron bombs radioactivity is not the biggest threat. There can be some short-lived induced radiation in materials such as metals from the neutrons, but mostly the immediate release of the neutrons themselves is what's designed to kill.
Avatar 3:32pm Clark Nova:

at age 3, JFJO member Jacob Haas wanted his unborn brother to be named Jacob Fred (from interwebs)
Swag For Life Member 3:33pm BK M_N:

here you go- Jacob Fred is what Brian Haas wanted his yet to be born brother to be named when he was 3. Jazz Odyssey came from Spinal Tap (thanks Wiki)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Neutrons aren't radiation? Light is 'radiation'...oh well...that's okay then...
  3:35pm Robert:

Depends whether you mean "what that would be like" to refer to the macro or the micro scale. On the micro scale, anyone who's been around an explosion of any kind understands what it would be like. On the macro scale it would be much harder to understand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Mike East:

everyone knows the biggest threat from atomic attacks are the mutants.
  3:36pm Robert:

You said "radioactivity", which is not the same as radiation.
Avatar 3:37pm still b/p:

"Them" giant ants!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

✔ Robert - Thx.
...My advice to everyone: Read 'Hiroshima' by John Hersey about what it was really like, & get back to me on how 'pro-nuke' you wanna be...
  3:39pm Robert:

Best story I know of of someone keeping his head in a situation like that was Wagner Dodge in the Mann Gulch fire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Guido from Cologne:

HELLO and excuse me:
ELO's first album includes Roy Wood !!!
ELO started as an "art-rock" side-project to The Move.
For a period of one or two years both projects (led by jeff Lynne and Roy Wood) existed parallely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Guido from Cologne:

Reference here:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Irwin:

HELLO, Guido. I said Roy Wood was in ELO. I called him a founding member. You listening or just half-listening?
  3:42pm oks:

is Roy Wood brother of Ronnie Wood?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Irwin:

But I do like the neologism "parallely."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Irwin:

Roy and Ronnie are sisters.
  3:43pm Dean:

Roy and Ronnie and Jeff are the original ELO kiddies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...ah! - Twisted Tribute band: ELO Kitties...
  3:44pm oks:

i thought so :)
  3:44pm Dean:

Best tribute band ever: Insane Chicago Symphony Orchestra Posse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...also a Cheap Trick song - & they Move influenced...you see...
  3:48pm Dean:

And the Stones' "You Gotta Move," also a nod to Roy Wood. (Man, I just love making up crap like I know what I'm talking about.)
  3:49pm berbo:

The Miles Davis Experience and his posse messengers featuring Jethro "Fred" Tull.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Alison Porchnik:

I'd like to hear Everyday by Richard Gere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Guido from Cologne:

I must apologise ... for my half listening half reading half writing .... everything para-lilly ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...here's Miles w/ EL now - after they changed the 'O' to a 'P'... :
...small world, really...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Irwin:

apologies in advance for this next track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm chris:

Yee haw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Alison Porchnik:

Why apologize? This is brilliant. Pure poetry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Alison Porchnik:

Oh wait- is she singing about Satan?
  3:57pm Dean:

Half-listening here. "When you can't roll my body..."?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm chris:

Whoever she's speaking of, she had me at the first line.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Webhamster Henry:

Sex And Broadcasting (the book) name anecdote:
As far as sex goes, I would supposed you hard-pressed to find much raw naked diddling in this book. It's not that I am shy about offering you some passionate act of congress in the transmitting room, as the tube-blowers rage overhead. No: It's just that I really wanted you to buy this book, and my Great Aunt Beulah convinced me that a book with the word Sex in the title would double its sales, and quadruple its readership.
--- Lorenzo Milam
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Alison Porchnik:

Unlike the modern A-bomb, doubling musette power quadruples its range.

Sure, she wrote it. But will she ever sing it?
Avatar 5:04pm Sem Chumbo:

  5:40pm jan:

Haven't heard Vollenweider since tiring of the albums I bought back in the day. Has his oeuvre been

  5:41pm emile:

Jan -- just listen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Irwin:

I don't know a 2nd Vollenweider track. This is the extent of my familiarity with his work.
