Listener comments!

Swag For Life Member 8:04pm 12539:

You will be available for fill-ins, I hope.
  8:06pm JakeGould:

Let’s not talk about anything but the now.
Avatar 8:06pm Rick Heinegeber:

Hey Bethany. This is some soothing music.
Avatar 8:07pm ranjit:

That was a nice transition from Bach to Steibelt.
  8:07pm Robert:

I was going to say the same thing, ranjit.
Avatar 8:09pm Bethany Ryker:

@ranjit - yes! Andy and I thought the same as I put it in cue, same key, same general character. One of those unplanned seamless segues!
  8:09pm Mrs P:

Hi Bethany and listeners.
  8:14pm P-90:

Evening DJ Bethany and all the sto-cats and sto-kittens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm Matt from Springfield:

You mess with the BEEthoven, you're going to get stung!

Greetings Bethany and A440ers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm Matt from Springfield:

Massenet! This is why we dig you so much!
  8:17pm Mrs P:

My husband and I always love what you do. I feel a little sad about you leaving and the change in WFMU's programing recently.
Avatar 8:20pm Bethany Ryker:

Hi Everyone - I'll also miss being here on a weekly basis, but I needed to take a break because I'll be doing a lot of travelling and am going in some new directions in life - however (!) I'll be filling in frequently, so I'm not disappearing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21pm Matt from Springfield:

It's a particularly sad transition this time, Mrs P. But, we'll have many wonderful Archives and the hope of Bethany's speedy return!
  8:21pm Carmichael:

Heya Bethany and attendees. I am sitting upright and watching with my opera glasses.
Avatar 8:25pm Bethany Ryker:

Quick experiment for my own curiosity, after you read this, shut your eyes, turn 90 degrees to the left and let me know the first thing you see when you open your eyes.
Avatar 8:26pm ironybread:

Even though the movie in my mind during all these pieces is the Silly Symphony "The Band Concert", I am still a mature person.
Avatar 8:26pm Rick Heinegeber:

I have a large Mirror to my left.
  8:27pm Robert:

I see a door to my left.
  8:27pm JakeGould:

I see the curtains on my living room window. Now what?
  8:28pm Carmichael:

My neighbor's work truck through the door of my mancave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I see my daughter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm Tim 07030:

The 8.5 x 11 signed picture of Ed Kranepool on the far wall of my kitchen!
  8:29pm doca:

Hey, Bethany, I'll miss your show!
And what I see is my bedroom wall
Avatar 8:29pm northguineahills:

My right turntable w/ an LP by the band Turn On still on it.
  8:29pm Mrs P:

I agree Matt. I always felt that Bethany and also Vicki added something very special to the station. I'm sorry about the kinds of programs that replace them now.
Avatar 8:31pm ironybread:

A map of the building where I work.
  8:31pm eric in va:

Just want to say thanks for doing this program. It was ( is) the perfect wfmu classical show. Look forward to the fill ins and good luck
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Matt from Springfield:

I see my floor, with a carpet.
  8:32pm Mrs P:

More tempests! Wonderful Bethany.
  8:32pm Robert:

I'm guessing Bethany was testing to see how many people are reading the comments on the playlist page and want to please the DJ.
Avatar 8:32pm ranjit:

Window curtains (actually shower curtains) with poppies that look like hamburgers.
  8:33pm Carmichael:

Matt, does that mean you have fallen and you can't get up?
Avatar 8:35pm ranjit:

Apparently PepsiCo is testing a Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew soda. Also apparently my tablet knows those trademarks and capitalize them all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm Matt from Springfield:

Heaviness is good! And Murray Perahia! :D

@Carm Such are the perils, of listening in on your iPad, looking down :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm fleep:

A zero gravity Balans chair.
  8:37pm Carmichael:

This dude is pretty edgy for the 18th century.
Avatar 8:38pm ! I X Key !:

I love this show so much! Thank you, Bethany, for this awesome show that you do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm Matt from Springfield:

@Bethany For Chopin, I like Maria João Pires, one of his finest interpreters on piano.
Avatar 8:39pm Rick Heinegeber:

This would have been a hit, pity there was no pop music industry back then. I would have liked to try and manage this guy.
Avatar 8:39pm Bethany Ryker:

@Robert - hmmm, not so much about getting responses. If you know me, I tend just to be curious as I sit here in the studio. I imagine what kind of setting this music reaches, and then I realize that instead of just imagining...these technological advances allow me to ask! :)
Avatar 8:41pm Rick Heinegeber:

Sounds very similar to the background music in first the Adams Family Movie. Well, parts of it, anyway.
  8:43pm Mrs P:

How lovely to hear Alfred Brendel play Liszt. I don't recall ever hearing him play anything but Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert and Schumann. Bethany knows how to find them!
  8:43pm JakeGould:

Bethany, thank you for the Chopin! Asked for some Chopin a while back and here we go. Appreciated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Ike:

I see a hat. And then a cat. But no cat in a hat.
Avatar 8:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Glad to read that the hiatus is a choice. Enjoy! It happens that this a pretty big Schedule Change this time...
- As I've said repeatedly - much appreciate being schooled & entertained @ the same time. Thanks !
  8:44pm JakeGould:

Good thing you didn’t ask about “the right” because for me that is just a wall.
Avatar 8:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& - a laundry basket full of CDs...
  8:46pm JakeGould:

Ike, take the cat… Either the cat wears the hat or goes into the hat but none of this fence-sitting nonsense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm Matt from Springfield:

GREAT work by Daniel Barenboim here on piano!
  8:48pm JakeGould:

Agreed on Barenboim.
Avatar 8:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- jeepers yes.
  8:48pm Carmichael:

And only a rabbit may emerge from said hat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm íkє:

The hat is too big for this cat. She's a small cat, and my head is big.
  8:50pm JakeGould:

Carmichael, that rabbit/hat comment is so racist.
Avatar 8:50pm ranjit:

Could the cat sleep in the hat?
Avatar 8:50pm Rick Heinegeber:

This is off the The Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm Ike:

Nope, not quite big enough for that.
Avatar 8:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  8:52pm Mrs P:

Goodnight everyone and thank you Bethany for your wonderful program. We'll stay with you until you sign off though.
Avatar 8:52pm ranjit:

I'm gonna miss A440! And Hello Children, and probably other shows I don't yet know are going away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm Ike:

@Mrs. P: Vicki always jumps off by choice; she is never pushed from what I understand. Takes a lot of work to do that show. WFMU is always a delightfully mixed bag of crazy, and no sane person likes everything. Something great always comes along to replace what we've lost... if not sooner, then later. Not that I don't mourn the loss of several shows this time around... esp. the one that follows this, Airborne Event!
Avatar 8:55pm Bethany Ryker:

yikes! Apologies for the abrupt CD skip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Have a good time during your hiatus, Bethany. Enjoy your travels. Check in when you can. Your shows have been enjoyable and uplifting.
Avatar 8:57pm ranjit:

I thought it was very avant garde :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm Matt from Springfield:

So long for now Bethany! Safe and fun travels, and we look forward to your next show!

Have a good night, aficionados! Remember to order seats for Bethany's next broadcast!
  8:58pm Carmichael:

Bethany, if you ever come to the capitol of California, I shall guide thee to yon used record stores.
Avatar 8:58pm Bethany Ryker:

Thank you all for tuning in and sharing Monday nights with me! best wishes! Xx.
Swag For Life Member 8:58pm 12539:

Thanks, Bethany, skips and all.
Avatar 8:59pm northguineahills:

Great show, thanks Bethany!
  9:00pm Barrett:

What an epic piece! A fitting composition for a fantastic show!
  9:01pm Robert:

Yay! I mean, you know...
  9:02pm Terry:

Wow - hate to hear you will not be on weekly Bethany. Sure have loved your show. I was honestly thinking this past hour what a gift to the world you present. Hoping to hear you back on the airwaves soon!
