A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Bob you made a real propaganda poster!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am sphere:

@bob that is one great poster - meow for Lucas!
Avatar 9:05am Marcel M:

I'm eagerly awaiting my cat to show up on the mascot page.

Just kidding. Great poster, good job your cat had a short name.
Avatar 9:18am d¢ pät:

This A Winged Victory... is pretty bitchin...
Avatar 9:19am Marcel M:

I listen to the online stream at home, and still get confused early morning with the 91.1 in the van. Since technically ANYTHING could be playing on normal WFMU. But I was pretty confused by the music for a long time before Nachum popped on and started talking haha.
  9:19am P-90:

Good job @Bobdoes!
Avatar 9:20am pierre:

Bonjour Trouble and Troublalas !
Avatar 9:20am bobdoesthings:

@p-90 thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am Parq:

UK Brian, that would actually make a good propaganda poster itself. "What Are *You* Going To Do For Your Llama?"

Good point Bob.
Avatar 9:29am still b/p:

bobdoesthings -- Now you just need Sinatra to adapt a popular song for the campaign, like he did with High Hopes for Jack. Or maybe Susan Vega can whip somethin' up.
Avatar 9:31am bobdoesthings:

Avatar 9:38am glenn:

birds on book covers.
Avatar 9:38am bobdoesthings:

"how can you not love cranky?" - I don't know, ask my mother, (ZING!)
Avatar 9:39am βrian:

Les grues volent en haut. It's interesting that in French, as in English, the bird and the construction machine share the same name.
Avatar 9:40am Marcel M:

Yeah the guns are FOR King Christie
  9:40am Sam:

That is cool, Brian! Probably because the machine resembles the bird so much. I wonder if the name was chosen independently in each language or if it was translated from one into the other.
Avatar 9:42am Brian in UK:

@Sam Crane is also a verb. That could be the origin to stretch.
  9:44am Sam:

But I don't think gruer is a verb in French, is it?
Avatar 9:44am βrian:

And then there's Colonel Hogan...
Avatar 9:45am pierre:

@ Brian : interesting and amusing indeed, I guess that's because they really look like each other, no ?
Avatar 9:47am βrian:

@pierre. I think so. A blurb: "ORIGIN Middle English: figuratively from crane (the same sense development occurred in the related German Kran and Dutch kraan (see crane), and in French grue). The verb dates from the late 16th cent."
Avatar 9:51am d¢ pät:

Avatar 10:08am Roberto:

Ah yes, the NYC high school thing. Been there, done that, twice. Feh.
Avatar 10:08am bobdoesthings:

is it now mandatory to apply to highschools now? did christie really destroy schools already? I heard it was coming..
Avatar 10:09am Roberto:

Or maybe you're talking about the NJ high school thing.

Oh Trouble, don't send him to Catholic School for High School....

I was brought down Catholic my whole life.
Avatar 10:10am Roberto:

For what it's worth, the kindergarten application process in NYC was actually more stressful.
Avatar 10:10am d¢ pät:

wow, I like the sound of a Chevy being built.
Avatar 10:11am Brian in UK:

It is similar over here. We have twin girls and one skool accepted one and said the other would get in on appeal. We told them they could take a powder. That was few years ago, it gets worse nowadays.
Avatar 10:12am Trouble:

clarification: our local public high school is crap so we are applying to an academic public high that demands a test. private schools are also in the mix as a result of public school being crap.
Avatar 10:13am Brian in UK:

I think 1975 was a crap year for record quality over here. They came prewarped and jumpy.
Avatar 10:16am bobdoesthings:

@marcel - do you recall a test for our highschool?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...show me the way to
- Funky Townes ! ...
Avatar 10:17am Marcel M:

@BOB: I think we did have to apply... but it was really easy. I vaguely remember some sort of test yes. But the super public schools in the NYC area Trouble is talking about is much different and much more competitive.
Avatar 10:18am Marcel M:

@BOB: Around us the public schools were good, so there weren't TONS of people looking elsewhere. Thus the competition that she is talking about in NYC and surrounding areas.
Avatar 10:18am bobdoesthings:

sheesh.. I'm almost 30 and still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.. competitive high school entrance exams.. yikes!
Avatar 10:20am Marcel M:

Yeah like Danilo had to do that in NYC to escape his horrible local school.
Avatar 10:21am bobdoesthings:

there was a good "This American Life" on charter schools in the city and the politics/reality behind them

enjoying the show!!!!!!

Yeah its bizarre how it works. in NYC.

Avatar 10:47am glenn:

huh. i would have thought morrissey's miserable ass would have kept cancer well at bay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am Parq:

Everybody keeps calling him Paul Revere. I dug "Kicks" as much as anyone, but I think the name Mark Lindsay deserves to be remembered.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am Parq:

And yes, Morrissey having cancer does seem a wee bit redundant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Mark Lindsay is the Singer: Paul Revere the keyboard player has passed.
