Carpe cupcake!
Afternoon, Amanda and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Artie:

Did Keanu also eat his candle?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Amanda:

Hey everybody! Thanks for joining me!

FYI October is SILENT FUNDRAISER TIME, which explains the pledge banner on the top left. Pledge for cupcakes, Keanu, party hats, etc.
Avatar 12:06pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...if Keanu eats the Red candle
...but if he eats the Blue one...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Artie:

Either candle eaten, either path taken, seems unlikely to lead to Keanu's enlightenment as to the source of the colored bits gently passed.
Avatar 12:16pm glenn:

i met keanu briefly. that was more than enough.
Avatar 12:20pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- just listened to HenryRollins play :
Joe Meek - Entry Of The Globbots / I Hear A New World
- which made me think of Here...donchaknow...
Avatar 12:22pm Danne D:

Hi AmNazz and everyone. Thanks for the tunes, I can really use 'em!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm listener james from westwood:

My gym has a music video in heavy rotation that spoofs the "Simply Irresistible" vid, but w/ men in bathing suits, makeup, etc. and a woman fronting the spectacle. No idea who the singer is but the whole look is spot on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Amanda:

The next frontier: remake Simply Irresistible with dogs. Or backup-dancer dogs and one cat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm listener james from westwood:

The Palmer Barkers present ... Addicted to Cupcakes
Avatar 12:38pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Doug Schulkind:

I am having a very pleasurable time listening your radio show, Amanda.
Avatar 12:41pm Danne D:

This is very nice, Amanda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm listener james from westwood:

Howdy, ndbob and all! Echoing Doug's kudo.
BTW, your singalong 2 weeks ago to Fred Astaire was a Top 3 singalong, if not THE tops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Amanda:

No way! Thanks, James!

Re: Dead Fingers, I thought so too... it is great-sounding...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm listener james from westwood:

This is why author-spoken poetry is excellent. No beating that accent!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Doug Schulkind:

@Listener James
I believe that video is for Ingrid Michaelson's "Girls Chase Boys." My daughter is fond of that song (and it's clever skewering of sexism and heteronormative genderism in popular culture) and so I am!
Avatar 12:46pm glenn:

heteronarmative genderism, you say?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Artie:

Rodeo Time!
Avatar 12:46pm Roberto:

Crankin' this one up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Carmichael:

Jeez, where the f have I been?!? Hi Amanda, Nazarenes, and Phil.
Avatar 12:47pm ottovonbqe:

I love these lazy sundays....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm listener james from westwood:

So goddamn unjust Phil's not alive. Yes, I'll think this every time I hear Thin Lizzy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Doug Schulkind:

I went through a Thin Lizzy phase, too. It lasted for about forever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Amanda:

He lives though. He lives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm listener james from westwood:

@Doug, that is indeed the one. Man candy for all!
Avatar 12:50pm Dan B From Upstate:

It's nice to hear some (new to me) Thin Lizzy. Our city's three classic rock stations (yes, really...) don't dig too deep into their catalogue.
Avatar 12:50pm Roberto:

Dump version is pretty great too.
  12:50pm Dean:

Ernie Graham does a nice version of this TL tune.
Avatar 12:53pm Danne D:

Jukebox :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Carmichael:

Boy, I thought that Lizzy song would be #3, right behind Boys Are Back in Town and Jailbreak. Not in some markets, I guess.
Avatar 12:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

This Lizzy thing on BBC was real good :
...looks like can't hear it right now...hmm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm listener james from westwood:

Will get into the hot October wagering action when I drop the check I'm looking at in the bank!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Gaylord Fields:

Why isn't the entire Jailbreak LP given the love it absolutely deserves from people who should know better? It's a stone classic, from lip to label!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm listener james from westwood:

PS. Rumor has it if you pledge $10K, you can get an anti-loneliness hugging chair in the image of Station Mgr Ken: t.co...
Avatar 1:11pm ndbob:

The great Robbs!
Avatar 1:12pm glenn:

a. hugging. chair. words fail me.
Avatar 1:13pm Roberto:

I remember hearing this Billy Bragg for the first time on KCRW in the late '80s. I was like, WTF.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Amanda:

Only a hugging chair could make me feel better at this point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Gaylord Fields:

Papa Nez and Mama Nazz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Carmichael:

I have never heard that Monkees song. And I have heard EVERY Monkees song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm listener james from westwood:

::makes Homer-style moon waffle::
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm listener james from westwood:

The Film Roman shift ended the lingering Life in Hell-ishness in the way things were drawn, is how I always thought about it, that liquid feel to the animation and dashed-off lines of the earlier seasons.
Avatar 1:24pm northguineahills:

Hmmm, God is the only character on the Simpsons to have 5 fingers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm listener james from westwood:

Dear gods, the mattress thing nearly killed me and my gang when we saw it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Heteronormative Genderism:

But you can call me Norm.
Hi! Any messages?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm listener james from westwood:

God is also a cat man/god, based on Snowball II's reaction.
Avatar 1:27pm northguineahills:

The date of the Playdude is July 1986.
Avatar 1:29pm Dan B From Upstate:

Not to go too far off topic, but any thoughts on the crossover?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm listener james from westwood:

This ep introduced me to:
1. This song.
2. Ganesha.
Avatar 1:30pm Dan B From Upstate:

I'd say I didn't hate it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Jeff Golick:

@Dan B: I read a pretty nasty takedown of the ep, which has colored my view, but agree with your assessment.
Avatar 1:31pm northguineahills:

I saw the crossover last night. I liked the references to the feud Groening and MacFarlane had in the past, and string of copycatting from the Flintstones-Simpsons-Family Guy.
  1:33pm jay c:

Great show today, amazing way to start off this October!
Avatar 1:35pm Dan B From Upstate:

I liked the idea of the Modern Family / All in the family cross over.

I brought hummus!
I knews yous twos was homos when you walked in!
Avatar 1:35pm northguineahills:

Ok, almost done w/ round one of acquiring documents and services for my wife's pre-green card visa. Trying to figure out how to get joint insurance of some sort, that's the last step.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm listener james from westwood:

We're all thinking about trapezes w/ this Jumbo cut on, right? I know I am.
Avatar 1:39pm northguineahills:

I was thinking of Ernie singing "George Washington Bridge" over and over on the Jumbo cut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm listener james from westwood:

NGH, does your state have a state-level health exchange? Might be doable somehow during the sign-up process.
Avatar 1:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

This ep introduced me to:
1. It has a name: 'Over the Waves' ! ...
Avatar 1:42pm ndbob:

I actually remember the commercial this is based on
Avatar 1:44pm northguineahills:

@James: I'll have to look into it, Obama Care will take a while, and I haven't figured out if she's eligible as she isn't a citizen. This is my task for today.
Avatar 1:45pm ndbob:

Avatar 1:46pm t_J:

i loved seing recently the "all singing, all dancing" simpsons episode ..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm listener james from westwood:

Che bella, Dino!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Gaylord Fields:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Jeff Golick:

The crossover had the wife and I discussing spinoffs, e.g., how All in the Family begets The Jeffersons...and Maude...and Archie's Place...and Gloria.

Weirdest spinoff: Mork & Mindy.
Avatar 1:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...scouring the interwebz for that Lizzy doc ;
- Think I should trust this, guys - ?! :
...also: I got nuthin' to open BitTorrents on this old Mac...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar 1:52pm northguineahills:

Thanks ndbob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Gaylord Fields:

@Jeff Golick: And don't forget that Good Times was a Maude spinoff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm listener james from westwood:

What I heard about the actual Simpsons season opener w' the much-ballyhooed death made the ep sound like a whiff.
Avatar 1:54pm ndbob:

@NGH Hopefully that will resolve things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Jeff Golick:

@Gaylord Fields: we were trying to figure out how Good Times figured into it all! Thanks for that.
Avatar 1:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

wait - what: Maude>GoodTimes - ?! : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Amanda:

Now that Archie Andrews has died, everyone has to do it.
Avatar 1:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thor is a Woman !
Avatar 1:57pm ndbob:

excellent show Amanda!
Avatar 1:57pm northguineahills:

Wait, it's 2 already! Thanks again Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Gaylord Fields:

@Revolution Rabbit Nov63: Florida Evans started out as Maude's maid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Amanda, for the fine show!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks, 'manda!
Avatar 1:59pm ndbob:

It was from an Anacin commercial
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Jeff Golick:

It was the exact opposite of the suckiest suck that ever sucked, to paraphrase a favorite Homerism that I heard again last night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Gaylord Fields:

Hurrah, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Stevel:

Ciao, Amanda!
Avatar 2:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx AmNazz !
Avatar 2:00pm ndbob:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Amanda:

Thanks for listening to my show today! You're the best. And I helped.
Avatar 2:02pm Danne D:
