A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

jasmine deporta is today's artist. this is part of her sofa series; pix done with thrift store furniture and matching thrifted clothes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am listener james from westwood:

NGH: I was alive, but I was all of 6. Still would have been better than hearing "Seasons in the Sun" a gazillionth time, tho.
Avatar 9:12am bobdoesthings:

@trouble - and matching thrift store cameras?
Avatar 9:12am v k:

good morning, Trouble - happy to be listening in real time (been too long)

Flying monkeys over the isthmus today. Bonjour.
Avatar 9:51am doca:

@Trouble: I travelled twice over the last couple of months and I went to two places I was reminded of you and your show. One is the Xul Solar Museum, in Buenos Aires. I didn't knew his work and found it amazing, he was a close friend of Borges and a mystic himself, it was great. The other was Inhotim, which I went the other week. It's really an amazing place, but perhaps you already have some notice about this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Trouble:

both of those things sounds super doca. i will look them up once i get off air today. great summer you had!!
Avatar 9:56am pierre:

to add to Bibi's note (but maybe it has been said while a was smoking outside), Jean Vilar also was the founder of the Avignon Theatre Festival.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am adrian in mpls:

whoo-hoo - Annette!
Avatar 9:58am doca:

It was winter, @Trouble! But in Belo Horizonte it felt like summer :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Trouble:

but pierre/bib is this the man that agnes varda started taking pix for that lead to her being a filmmaker?

Avatar 10:07am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...websearching Jean Vilar leads to the distraction of being informed by wiki (en.wikipedia.org...) that Antonin Artaud :
Died 4 March 1948 (aged 165)

Killed by a frisbee to the neck
Body discovered
The refrigerator of the Le Café Noir

Avatar 10:14am pierre:

@Trouble : he was the photographer of le Théatre National Populaire, directed by Jean Vilar. I guess you're spot on on that info

Was that DJ Ice Pak and you at the Film Forum screening of the La Broca "That Man From Rio"? (En francais avec les subtitles.)If so, I sat next to him! I love that film. Laughed loudly and gasped at the stunts. You both looked great- so happy and into it. I was going to inquire of your identity but did not want to interfere with famous people trying to have an anonymous good time in public.
If you were not there, some cool boy with glasses and his mom were.
I had listened to your this week's show that day in archive so your voices were clearly in my mind and I thought you had materialized...
I have a membership at FF and live 3 blocks away and go at least 2 times a wk so I notice the room of, and the people in, my sort of 2nd home
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Trouble:

omg mary!! yes we were all there: icepack and my husband. were you the woman who we kept trodding on to get in and out of our seats? crazee!! wish you had said hi. yes that was a super fun film, i adore john paul belmondo... and the scenes of brasilia! whoa

Apropos of nothing, I've learned that hens can sometimes crow. Not the most pleasant discovery, really, at 5:30 in the morning.

Looking up Jasmine Deporta lures a person where? To art & design sites, which lure a person where? To other art & design sites, which means a person is what? Gone.....on a journey so far-reaching and stirring that I'm expecting a congratulatory call from Nixon any minute.

Hey Trouble, sounds good but the volume is a bit low.

sounds lovely indeed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Trouble:

it looks like it is major big and loud on our end...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Marcel M:

Maybe its just me... or it was the contrast from the song playing before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am adrian in mpls:

Marcel-I felt the same way about the volume level-I think it seems better now....
Avatar 11:10am bobdoesthings:

@ marcel - it's just you
Avatar 11:10am bobdoesthings:

Avatar 11:25am bobdoesthings:

yet another sublime freq comp I need to own..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

I have a digital camcorder that I once wanted really badly. Sadly I barely use it. Sometimes I wish I had a wife and kids to video tape, their sporting achievements etc and maybe one of them saying "this is the best day ever".
  11:39am mary:

I dropped into my seat just before the first frame of TMFRio so all was calm...and I was so impressed that the boy to my right was completely into the film. Did not see your spouse past you; was riveted to the entertainment (in the best sense of the word). The two main actors were so good, perfect timing. Nice insight to Brazilia via the comedy. TMFR was made year before Belmondo was In Godard's "Pierrot le Fou", my all time fave film. Am geek.

Sometimes the world makes so much sense through happenstance. The wk before @FF, for Carax's "Les Amants du Pont Neuf", (second time that wk, took my best friend to see that kind of Carax terrible beauty) by chance, I sat next to my ex student from 3 years ago who has come to live in NYC from China. So happy to see her and when she said, "Oh I am sitting here because you told me these were the two best rows"...mentor joy.

Will say hi if I ever see you again! Love your show!
