Avatar 6:50am

Only first rate tunes are allowed in this time slot!
Avatar 6:52am
Jeff Conklin:

I never thought of them as so freaky, @Guido, definitely cast in the ISB mold
Avatar 6:53am

Yair Yona:

Hi Jeff, hi everyone

Cooh John:

Good morning. Coming out of my. How did I know you would play GD?
Avatar 7:25am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I love bookmarking streams; there is the GDRADIO.NET stream of LiveDead - & seems I only ever bother to stay tuned when it's real early stuff like this...guess I'm a Pigpen fan ! ; ) ...
Avatar 7:26am
Jeff Conklin:

Hey, Yair! I don't know, John, how'd you know> (serious question)
Cooh John:

Just felt the vibe.

GD, pre keyboard players, backing vocalists, Alembic guitars. Nice one, Jeff

Great choice one of the underrated songs from that period. Please keep it coming, '69 was one of their golden periods. Welcome aboard from a fellow head with 100+ shows, there's room for everyone here at WFMU.
Avatar 7:35am
Nadine Duchamp:

Am no expert of Grateful Dead, that's for sure. Like their earlier stuff, tho
Avatar 7:36am
Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, KP and John. Yeah, I wish they played that one a little more often.
Avatar 7:38am
Jeff Conklin:

RRN: I'm a fan of all of their phases but I tend to listen to 70-74 the most.
Avatar 7:45am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...deffo finding themselves in those years...

can we hear some Rush please?
Avatar 7:46am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...especially Rush's improv stuff...

Primal and well-placed GD. Love the show, thanks.
Avatar 7:47am
Jeff Conklin:

Sorry, no Rush. Ever.
Avatar 7:48am
Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, Leshwatt!

No Rush + no GD + no hippie jam band = underwater theme park
Avatar 7:54am
Sem Chumbo:

Really diggin' the feel of your show this morning, Jeff. Suits the day here perfectly. Thanks.
Avatar 7:54am
Jeff Conklin:

I can see I won't be getting any future requests from Meghan to cover her show

Meghan hello! Who would've ever think Dead would be playing in this time slot! Sorry but I liked it. Miss ya though!

Say I recognize the photo on your profile, Jeff. I have that 2LP record of Swedish hippie bands! A "wasted" memento of hippie culture it is too.

Hahaha. I need me some more pop/punk/rock in the am. Or some amazing African stuff!

Listening from East Nashville. I think it's to early for Italian Prog. So, keep up the vibe you got going.

I hope you're bringing back some nice African music from your travels
Avatar 8:07am

potato salad, huh?
Avatar 8:08am
Jeff Conklin:

Hey, Mitch. Get me some records!

Yeah, I don't rock at all until the nighttime, Meghan. Sorry :(

boo yah! MU kicks ass-- great show to wake up to, jeff!

so stoked you played some lightdreams too
Avatar 8:12am
Jeff Conklin:

Hey, thanks Turner!

@Will: Want to part with that album??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15am

This Gary Baldwin and Mass Murder reminds me of old school No Neck Blues Band.
Avatar 8:17am
Jeff Conklin:

@northguineahills: I wouldn't be surprised in the least if NNCK members knew this record. This is from 1979!
Avatar 8:20am
Nadine Duchamp:

Yes, well, goodnight from insomnia, california! Looking forward to next week -- as well ! "-)

The question is, Turner, can I get used to rising at 3am??
Avatar 8:35am
Jeff Conklin:

Have a great one, Leshwatt.

Is this a GD reprise
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38am
Guido from Cologne:

I luckily own this Flute & Voice (German Duo) on Pilz.
(it went for a fe Deutschmarks on a flee market.)

The previous owner wrote on the cover in big characters:
"MIST" which means "CRAP!"
I was able remove it and keep a shiny copy ever since! :-)
Avatar 8:39am
Jeff Conklin:

No, KP, this is an English group called Quintessence.
Avatar 8:39am

pretty cool
Avatar 8:40am
Jeff Conklin:

Ha, @Guido! Good record, I have the Amber Soundroom reissue

Rev. Turnip Druid:

If this is the kinda whatnot you kids get down to at this hour, I may have to come in to work early from now on...
Avatar 8:54am
Sem Chumbo:

So mellow now might have to go back to bed. See ya again when you're in a slot that welcomes hippie band jams, GD and, possibly, Rush-like music, especially from it's earlier, interesting albums:-0
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54am

Thanks Jeff, what a great way to start one's morning!

Nice one Jeff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am
Guido from Cologne:

Condemn this show as "hippie music" if it makes you feel better.
For my part: I LOVED IT!
Thank you!

great vibes! thanks Jeff!
Avatar 9:00am
Jeff Conklin:

Seriously, big thanks to all of you tuning in for Meghan and sticking around to hear me these past three weeks. And big thanks to Meghan. I'll be back on the FMU waves soon enough. Everybody have a great day!
