All swagged up now. Trust you had a good lie in last week. PGB did sterling work.
Hey Guido & Sem.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:10am Bill Mac:

@Steve - That's when I flip on some music

It is the third day of a five day Test. In the mid Nineteenth Century, England sent a team over to the colonies to play against you chaps.

Cheers Fran, we are playing India. Weather is hopefully sunny today!!!!
Have a great weekend everyone. Got to go, I am in Stoke at the moment.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:17am Andy in Berlin:

Good Morning everyone!
(I've been here all along - you just couldn't see me)
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:17am Sem Chumbo:

See ya, Brian. Hope you packed provisions, these things can last up to five days? Crikey!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:17am Fran:

Today is good Brian - tomorrow it will be trademark grey liquid Manchester sunshine with added breeze I understand!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:19am Fran:

Andy with a Klingon invisibility cloaking shield - impressive!

Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:21am Fran:

Bill you are no longer definitive - can you cope?
  Sat. 8/9/14 3:23am coalhard:

we need to let those kids in America or you can throw me out too
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:23am Bill Mac:

@Fran - Haven't been definitive in a quarter century.... I'll live
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:24am Sem Chumbo:

I took the bait and looked into, so to say, trumpet poop. Let's just say the sun don't shine there.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:25am Fran:

Trumpet poop - isn't that one of those poor quality Miles Davis bootlegs?
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:27am Sem Chumbo:

@Fran: yes, a kinda of blue boo-boo.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:28am Fran:

Ho ho Sem!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:29am Bill Mac:

If I'm going to quote a obscure lyric of Dons' I better get it right!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:30am Fran:

As you are no longer definitive Bill, small errors are permitted
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:31am Bill Mac:

Thanks Fran... the way I look at it, if I wake up breathing, everything else is gravy.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:33am Sem Chumbo:

Here in New Scotland, gravy is the fifth food group, after cigaettes, weiners, diet Fresca and string cheese.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:35am Fran:

Sem - you are on the edge of uninsurability there - add a deep fried chocolate bar of your choice to make sure!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:35am Bill Mac:

Diet Fresca AND gravy? I wanna move there!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:37am Fran:

Diet Fresca may as well be gravy by the sound of it!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:37am Sem Chumbo:

That's the spirit, BIll, to go boldly where no man is insurable at any price.
@Fran: so, you deliver?
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:39am Fran:

Deep fried choccy bars play havoc with the post so its a DIY thing for you I'm afraid
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:41am Andy in Berlin:

In truth I just had the covers over my head. The simplest ways are the best. :)
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:41am Bill Mac:

I actually googled hospitals that I could find employment up there....
Nothing really definitive came up....

I think we have a word of the day.....

Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:48am Andy in Berlin:

I saw a cricket game once when I was in India. The only thing I remember from that was that some kids ran onto the field and were chased off by guards waving scimitars.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:48am Sem Chumbo:

@MK: The Highland Clearance resulted in some Scots finding a new home here in Nova Scotia, where we are now more Scottish than Robbie Burns-era Scotland...
  Sat. 8/9/14 3:49am marmalade kitty:

the kid on the pitch was probably the most exciting thing that happened all day! :D
  Sat. 8/9/14 3:51am marmalade kitty:

I was going to say Nova Scotia..Latin?
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:52am Fran:

Have to admit cricket is like watching paint dry to me so some pesky kids sounds like a good addition to a few days of tedium. But it is popular so......
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 3:53am Sem Chumbo:

Etiam Marmalade Kitty, linguam mortuam!

Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:11am Guido from Cologne:

Update tracklist pleeeeze! Wanna star-click!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:12am Bill Mac:

Done!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:14am Guido from Cologne:

You must put some title, in order to generate a click-able star.
well, you were lucky enoug being able to read the artist name.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:14am Steve R:

Oh, I meant ABC by the Jackson 5
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:17am Bill Mac:

@Guido To be honest, the tracklist says unknown
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:19am Guido from Cologne:

Unknown works well.
Qustion Mmark didn't work.

Electric Nubians great group name and great neo-psych track.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:22am Bill Mac:

@Guido Duly noted....
Nice to hear you liked the Nubians... I use to play that track years ago at the Philly station I was at. At some point I checked the credits and noticed that the guy that engineered the record went to the same grade school that I did. Turns out the band also lived in the neighborhood. Wonder what happened to them..
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:25am Fran:

The Who...........whohoohoo!!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:27am Bill Mac:

Kinda on the dubby side.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:27am Fran:

This is a bit of a cheap 70s porntastic film-ish version Bill?
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:29am Bill Mac:

Glad you mentioned that.... 11 on the cheese-o-meter
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:31am Fran:

11 possibly 12 - must see if the film Dr Who and the hot dancin' skimpy Cyberwomen has been made. If not we have a soundtrack.....
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:31am Guido from Cologne:

Electric Nubians, 1994 , interesting time.

Did you know delia Derbyshire stopped activity in electronic music because of availability of modular snynthesizer?
Seems kinda weird.

But for my part, I myself also stopped my sampling madness, when it becam a simple drag&drop-thing with automatic time-stretch on windows. so I have a certain idea..
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:32am Fran:

Well done KP - just ordered this box set from Fruits de Mer as a pre-release.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:33am Guido from Cologne:

Oh King Penguin !
Listener KP alread woke up and brought you his group's record?
good version! great arrangement!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:36am Bill Mac:

@Fran I think that Dr Who came into my consciousness during the Tom Baker Years - his share billing with girl that really didn't need to have a speaking part....
So glad you guys liked the KP tune. Well done KP wherever you are!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:36am Sem Chumbo:

Outstanding set, Bill. Diggin'.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:37am beavoux:

That Byrds cover was 5D. At least the part I heard.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:37am Bill Mac:

@Sem yeah man, how'd that happen?!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:40am Bill Mac:

Thanks BV, you are correct. That's another activity/game we have here. I call it "Fix Bills' Mistakes"
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:40am Fran:

Dr Who is a bumpy ride for me:
Jon Pertwee - my early childhood - great
Tom Baker - genius and great scarves
Peter Davidson - good not great
Colin Baker - Rochdale connections so have to like a little
Sylvester McCoy - truly awful to me but some love his take so....
The more recent rebirth of the Doctor on BBC TV is quite something after the various failed restarts of the 90s but I miss the shaky sets and everything being in an abandoned quarry if outdoors - damn these bigger budgets!!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:40am Stanley:

Good morning, Old Scotland calling.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:41am Fran:

Good morrow to thee Stanley
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:43am Stanley:

A bit of a lie in this morning. Had a shit bucket week.
Hi Fran long time, no read.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:43am Fran:

Starting to angst about next week's prime gig by the way after the disappointing Neutral Milk Hotel shoutalong - going to Slint playing Spiderland - I'm crossing my fingers!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:43am Sem Chumbo:

I have a nice slice of vegan haggis for ye, and, pass the caber, would you, please, old Scotland?
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:45am Fran:

Been listening Stanley but unable to join in due to work and other inconveniences! Hopefully normal service resumed for a while....
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:46am Stanley:

@Sem - have the 1200 calorie full breakfast like everyone else.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:47am Fran:

There are restaurant signs in Glasgow that say 'we serve vegetarians' - its not being polite but a menu item!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:51am Sem Chumbo:

@Fran: oh, aye.hahaha.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:51am Stanley:

Once heard two housewives on a Glasgow train (no kidding);
"See me"
"Aye"
"See my man"
"Aye"
"See mince"
"Aye"
"He loves it"
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:51am Guido from Cologne:

Whow, very garagy Kaladeidoscope!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:52am Fran:

Sorry I should have said my prime gig will probably be Frank Fairfield and the wonderful Richard Dawson double header - I am preparing myself for Slint disappointment just in case it isn't very Slinteresting!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:52am Bill Mac:

@Fran Hah! Dig It! Vegetarians - on a plate!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:54am Fran:

Excellent Stanley - it will soon be Cutler time!! Bill - you got any Ivor in stock - Life in A Scotch Sitting Room Vol 2 for example?
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:56am Bill Mac:

Richard Dawson, was he primarily known as a comic over there? Once he got here he was an actor (Hogans Heroes) and the host of Wheel of Fortune - I can here him exhorting "Survey said!" as we speak.

Ivor Cutler - yes! Lemmee see what's back there...
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:57am Stanley:

Love Ivor Cutler. Once met the man when I was a college ents officer. Picked him up from the railway station and he spent the journey extolling the virtues of train travel. Eccentric doesn't even start to describe him.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:58am Fran:

Wrong Richard Dawson Bill - this is a chap from Newcastle - plays a wonderful mix of experimental music and folk - check out The Magic Bridge to start with!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 4:59am Stanley:

IC uses words like 'micturate'
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:00am Steve R:

Crosby likes guns
tinyurl.com...
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:00am Fran:

Well done Stanley! I saw his farewell concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London and there was a wonderful repeat of a Dave Allen documentary from way back at Christmas on eccentrics where his bit was magical. I saw the play they made of his life in Glasgow earlier this year - excellent!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:01am beavoux:

There are some great Neil Young songs on that set, Don't Be Denied, Pushing over the edge, Revolution Blues.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:01am Guido from Cologne:

@Bill
Can you pleas play something horrible?
I must go out for shopping.
Theese "Pretty" keep me stuck to the speakers!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:02am Stanley:

A play about him? I'll check if that's come to the Fringe.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:06am beavoux:

CSNY were playing better than ever in 74
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:06am Wynford Eagle:

hello bill - locked in from dorset by the sea - loving the show…..
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:07am Stanley:

@Guido - I get "What are you listening to now? It's horrible" quite often.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:07am Bill Mac:

Wynford Eagle thanks and welcome to the show
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:07am Fran:

Yay - observe Ivor's Jungle Tips and you can save yourself from being eaten by tigers!!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:08am Fran:

I hope it does Stanley - it was at the Citizens Theatre and it is called The Beautiful Cosmos of Ivor Cutler
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:09am Wynford Eagle:

I was at an ivor cutler show at warwick university, had to get up go to pee, and he stopped his performance and asked me where i was going….i sat back down!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:10am beavoux:

Bryce was playing
Some really horrible crap earlier yesterday I do love his show though.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:10am Fran:

Better that WE than trying to sneak out of a Bernard Manning show I guess!!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:11am Fran:

Thanks Bill - my morning is now officially nay definitively good!!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:11am Stanley:

...pretty much the same life as now.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:11am Bill Mac:

Neil Youngs After the Goldrush and I played this before
www.youtube.com...
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:13am Fran:

If you want to play something wonderfully horrible try Eilert Pilarm and his Elvis covers - his Scandinavian brogue to Hound Dog is up there with the very worst!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:15am Bill Mac:

@Fran This is bad enough.... I know we have Eilart... MA Numminen is bad too.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:16am Stanley:

That IC story was much like something I experienced when I was in Africa (when I was younger man). Stuck in this remote village we only had dried termites to eat. But if you cooked them they fluffed up, so with plenty of salt and someone making wooshing sounds in your ear, it was like eating shrimp.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:16am Fran:

Ah you do bad so well Sir
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:18am Stanley:

...of course we were very, very stoned.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:18am Steve R:

Could it be Neil Young's Journeys DVD where he returns to his first big venue in Toronto (Massey Hall) and plays After The Gold Rush on foot pedal organ.
tinyurl.com...
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:18am Bill Mac:

Definitively sir!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:18am Guido from Cologne:

No SaturDon yet?
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:20am Sem Chumbo:

@Stanley: was there an official termite fluffer, or was it a DIY situation? And was there a village "whoosher?" Sounds involved, logistics-wise.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:21am Stanley:

Haha - we were just a bunch of loons. One of the three cassettes I had with me was Jimmy Cliff
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:23am Guido from Cologne:

Would you believe, i just thought Zombies is early magic Band ... hehehe
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:23am Sem Chumbo:

A saving grace. And the stoned part, also a mitigating factor:)
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:24am Fran:

Floyd on Bugs - there's a series that should've been Stanley. Mind you once or twice around here I suspect the salt may have been hiding an exotic ingredient or two!!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:24am Sem Chumbo:

Unsquare Zombies, huh.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:26am Guido from Cologne:

Zombies were pretty sophisticated from the very beginning ... taken in context of time ... must be said ...
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:27am Stanley:

Bill is "Sam with the Showing Scalp Flat Top" near to hand, Would love to have that going round me head when out today, (though I can conjure it up at will)
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:30am Stanley:

@Fran - crustaceans are pretty much like insects. The world will probably end up living on bugs.
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:30am beavoux:

Particular about the point it made I was but knee high to a grasshopper opaque melodies that would bug most people, music from the other side of the fence
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:31am Stanley:

@bevoux - Roughneck and Thug!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:32am Sem Chumbo:

True Stanley true - from hacking to bugs for dinner and bugbears, bug sums up our lives increasingly. So 'bug' will be our defintive word but only if Bill agrees!
Avatar Sat. 8/9/14 5:33am Bill Mac:

@Sem Always a revelation isn't it? See you next week. Tell us about the hootch sometime!
