I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Avatar 12:21pm doca:

Boa tarde, Bryce and all! I see that you found a laser harp for you, eh, @Bryce?
Avatar 12:21pm Sem Chumbo:

Oh, I've been a Jarrehead for a long time. Nice, bry**.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Ike:

Greetings. Excellent start. Groovy.
Avatar 12:22pm Bayta:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Bryce:

Avatar 12:25pm Jesse K:

Avatar 12:26pm doca:

So, who wants a copy of that JMJ single just played? Look at the price
www.discogs.com...
Avatar 12:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

six dozen small italian shellfish turned loose in a laser harp? I'd buy that.
Avatar 12:28pm doca:

I see that WFMU is only on Jarre's early stuff...
Avatar 12:29pm Sem Chumbo:

Never should have melted my copy into a party hat, doca:(
Avatar 12:29pm doca:

You really did that, @Sem?
  12:30pm Phillip In Brookkyn:

Afternoon Bryce:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm steve:

if we pool all our laser pointers together we could make a sweet laser harp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Carmichael:

Heya Bryce and Bryceians. Long time, no diggin the tunes.
Avatar 12:31pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Jarre existed post-Zoolook? So many of those cats became.... sad.... once MIDI became the flavor of the month. I'd be afraid to explore later stuff. Damned terrified.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Bryce:

hi, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Ike:

This clangbizzle is schnozzle-tops! It's better than flying unincorporeal graffiti!
Avatar 12:35pm Bayta:

Wonderful World of Percussion should be the title of this set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm adrian in mpls:

i'm imagining all the objects on my desk coming alive and dancing! twirling twirling away
Avatar 12:37pm fred:

@RTD: Jarre dropped by at work a couple of months ago. Though I'll admit that being in my workplace is hardly proof of existing. Your terror might be justified
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm steve:

wonder what the buzzy thing in the background is
  12:39pm Phillip In Brookkyn:

So? What is today's "ethereal excursion" about?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Bryce:

ummm.....dunno?
  12:44pm Phillip In Brookkyn:

Ok?
  12:44pm doofus:

Bayata, how about, "It's a Wonderful Life of Percussion" Video- Music dubbed over the the Capra classic.
  12:44pm Phillip In Brookkyn:

Well were all glad your here and not another fill in host this fine Friday afternoon
Avatar 12:45pm Sem Chumbo:

@doca: Nah, I know better. I did melt my copy of Pvt. Pepper's Lonely Spades Club Band. Worthless.
Avatar 12:45pm fred:

This is weird: I just paraphrased Jabberwocky on a tech forum, and someone replied seriously. I think I need to work in another field
  12:46pm bill:

I know, I know! Is it bleeps and bloops?
Avatar 12:46pm doca:

@Sem: That's definitively a good thing to do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Bryce:

you win the fur-lined bathtub!
Avatar 12:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@fred 12:37: that's deeply groovy. I have great fondness for lots of that genre (pre-midi), from the typical folks to early Tyndall & hell, there's probably even a Neuronium record around here somewhere... I only start to lose interest when it all gets a bit too crystal-gazey...
Avatar 12:47pm Bayta:

@doofus - I prefer the alliterative title, but sure, why not
Avatar 12:48pm Cecile:

You played the Twin Pianos!

Hey, do you have Jean Michel Jarre and a hobo?
  12:49pm doofus:

How about, "Pretty Pumpin' Percussion in Pink"?
Avatar 12:49pm fred:

@RTD: If you ever come back to Paris, you should show up where I work. The "salesman" there has worked with Jarre And Vangelis for years (and is all too happy to tell everyone about it)
Avatar 12:50pm Bayta:

Deal
Avatar 12:50pm Cecile:

hahahhaha, fred.
Avatar 12:51pm Sem Chumbo:

I never imagined this when someone said they were cutting a record: thisisnthappiness.com...

  1:01pm nic:

i love melt-banana !!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 1:01pm Cheri Pi:

If I could use umlauts on consanants I would. WHen Cecile graduates from typography evening-college she's going to invent the all-alphabet umlaut font for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Carmichael:

Spinal Tap uses umlauts over consonants, so I think you have express authority to imitate them.
Avatar 1:04pm Chris from DC:

Should have guessed there was a Wiki on the Metal Umlaut en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 1:05pm Cecile:

hey, Carm!
I will keep that on the back burner, ms Pi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm mariano:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm mariano:

Speaking of hobos, I learned recently to my dismay that Big Rock Candy Mountain was originally a song about a hobo trying to lure a young man into hobo sex. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
Avatar 1:13pm Cecile:

STA shu.
Avatar 1:21pm Cecile:

really?
Avatar 1:21pm Sem Chumbo:

So Charlie Brown's teacher made an album?
Avatar 1:22pm beavoux:

Avatar 1:25pm Sem Chumbo:

Avatar 1:26pm beavoux:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Carmichael:

Snoopy did this part from inside his doghouse. Had to get the acoustics just so.
Avatar 1:29pm beavoux:

I was wrong,not Tom, it's Popeye!
Avatar 1:30pm Sem Chumbo:

The Linus blanket solos were cut as well, due to a claim by the Michael Jackson estate.
Avatar 1:34pm beavoux:

Oh right, Schroeder was the piano player
  1:36pm Schroeder@Peanuts.com:

Excuse me: "pianist", not "piano player." Please.
Avatar 1:37pm DJ Stashu:

Love that farty noise. Makes me calm.
Avatar 1:38pm Cecile:

don't shoot the pianist.
Avatar 1:39pm beavoux:

Hello Bryce, Was Mauricio Kagel's Blue's Blue played from the youtube film, or do you actually have a physical copy of this album?
  2:02pm Ken of Brooklyn:

KILLER SHOW BRYCE!!!! WOW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Bryce:

hey, blee, it was from a '91 CD on Disques Montaigne. is that film on youtube? awesome!

so many people don't even realize kagel made films.....but once you know what's going on in kagel's head you can never just hear his music again.....
Avatar 2:10pm Chris M.:

great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Bryce:

thanks, chris! :)
  2:13pm blee:

Wow, you have the CD! I'm jealous. The posted youtube film is listed as an excerpt. It's basically 4 guys loafing around listening to the phonograph of Blue's Blue, there is a mock biography about Timothy Blue in the beginning of the film which is enjoyable. I believe Kagel is in the film with a wig on.

Great show Bryce. My ears are having fun.
