Listener comments!

3:07pm David in ATL from NJ:

Lead track sounded like Chuck Prophet? Is this from his forthcoming album?

Nice.
  3:10pm SeanG:

Noo Yawk
Avatar 3:12pm CTEmpress:

Yea Paul Collins! He rocked it in his recent shows here!
Avatar 3:41pm Mailman Tom:

Have you heard the Muffs' new album? There's a killer track on it titled "Weird Boy Next Door". Kim Shattuck's voice is still in fine form after all these years of screaming and shouting !
  4:04pm waldo:

where were you when Bill played "I Get It" last week :)
  4:19pm Wikipedia says,:

Blotto was on Joe Franklin's show. Big time!
  4:37pm Al:

I haven't heard Blotto's I Wanna Be a Lifeguard in years! An old NYC radio station that is not around any more used to play it all the time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm common:

nice
  5:27pm Del Rivers:

Did you get my "Perugia Way" CD, yet? Hope 1 or 2 tracks can get played, eventually!!
  10:52pm Anonymous blackhole:

How long ago was it sent, Del? My WFMU mail has been disappearing so frequently for several years that I don't encourage anyone to mail anything to the station anymore. If I don't see it on the 10th, I'd have to say it's probably gone.
  12:14pm waldo:

"Where Were You When I Needed You" songwriter P.F. Sloan's interview by FMU's Michael Shelley aired Saturday 9/13/14. Sloan did the lead vocal on the original recording under the alias Grassroots (which I musta heard, but can't find on playlists). But in 1966, the song hit #28 with lead vocalist Willie "Bill" Fulton substituting for Sloan as Grassroots lead vocalist (liner notes for "The Grass Roots All Time Greatest Hits"). You, however, played yet a 3rd version, with Rob Grill's voice replacing Fulton, over the same tracks. Still 1966? I can't find the date. Grill is edgier, more macho. Grill's line-ups followed with 7 big hits for the Grass Roots.

Discogs.com only lists Dunhill 45-D-4029, 1966 - not 3 singles versions. On the album by that title, Fulton was "Where" vocalist.

You can find Dawn Wells at the Tribeca Barnes & Noble 9/17, 7p. Coming up this fall at the Union Square location will be Jimmy Page, Jerry Lee Lewis and, ahem, Peter Yarrow.
  8:45pm panjandrum of punk:

I played it as recently as early August from my old, original vinyl copy of their greatest hits. I wasn't aware of the multiple versions of the song floating around.

Is the vocally gifted degenerate Peter Yarrow still molesting 14 year old girls? The media has largely given that subversive skunk a pass on that, probably because "he cares". I have to lean forward now so I can barf in the bowl.

Oops! I just realized you were posting this comment on my August 3rd show.
