Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. It's strange to have been on WFMU for so long now. Not in the sense that Fabio or Irwin have, but a pretty long time just the same. I'm still enjoying it, though after every single show I think "gee I wish I could do that over again." There's always moments you wish you would have handled something better or said something more clever. Still, it's a blast and I'm glad you checked it out. I hope you'll visit me on Faceblah, too. It;s called The Pigeonnaires. Look for it. We have fun there. I'll see you next week hopefully. I hope you are loving your summer. What a beautiful time of year, Take care now and ... always remember ... the great guitarist, Dick Wagner. RIP

I thought you were ALWAYS suspect, Matt:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm chris:

It would be great if I were remembered as a Hippie Mystic. The usual suspect hippie mystic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm steve:

nice drones Clay. its funny you're playing something Fabio would probably love on the week he's gone!
Avatar 6:23pm dale:

the first night or two of this conflict jewish friend on facebook (new york jews, that is) were saying 'we're just defending ourselves.' they have been pretty silent of late with a kill ratio around a hundred to one.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm davex:

Hey Matt! Clay, great mix of music today, all over the place in a very good way...
  6:26pm V Priceless:

Can't believe this is ' 90!
Avatar 6:26pm Night Owl:

Winter Haven, Florida and USF alumni Kent LaVoie aka LOBO turns 71 today. Me And You An A Dog Named Blue.
Avatar 6:27pm Marcel M:

I always thought this song (and the band in general) would be waaaaaay better if it was mixed a little more raw and grittier... like Bauhaus or something. But I suppose Depeche Mode is for some and that style is for others...
Avatar 6:27pm dale:

seems late for the sound
  6:29pm P-90:

Yes, GAY-an
Avatar 6:29pm dale:

seals and crofts meets doctor bootygrabber! doctor earnest bootygrabber.
Avatar 6:29pm fred:

Depeche Mode were the first band I saw live. Road to nowhere started there. And this song is perfect. I'd run from anyone saying otherwise (that's my simile for fighting)
  6:29pm P-90:

Uh oh, is Clay in trouble for playing Summer Breeze?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

@Marcel: When played loud at a club, I imagine Depeche would sound kinda like Bauhaus, esp. if mixed by a DJ pro.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Matt from Springfield:

Kenny Rankin?
Avatar 6:30pm dale:

i'll bet dan hill has NEVER been played on fmu.
  6:30pm V Priceless:

Avatar 6:33pm Night Owl:

I hate when people talk about how much they hate songs...especially when I like them. Seals and Crofts played a rock fest at Univ of Tampa on my 18th birthday. It was awesome! Summer Breeze takes me back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Matt from Springfield:

Psilocybin Hoedown!! Thank you Clay, I was trying to find the words for that kind of event! :D

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

Ha! :D
Avatar 6:41pm Marcel M:

Hassid's are obviously very to themselves but every now and then one is very open and speaks to me and it always catches me off guard. I one time saw one doing the holy prayer at a loft party. He was like free styling it over techno... was pretty wild.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Uncle Michael:

I'm embarrassed. Did Clay do that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

@UM: He has a way of doing that! Remotely too, it seems :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm steve:

thats hilarious Marcel. all of my Brooklyn Hassid interactions over the years have been pleasant and interesting. my fav was the one who asked if i was Jewish because im so hairy.
  6:44pm P-90:

Hasids on Meth? Band name?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm chris:

I like this Rabbi. More Rabbis for peace!
Avatar 6:46pm Marcel M:

@Steve: I'm a black haird hairy man myself and they ask me all the time too!
Avatar 6:46pm Marcel M:

Yeah this guy is awesome
Avatar 6:46pm glenn:

Avatar 6:48pm Marcel M:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Good interview, not a common perspective from an American Jew. Great job Clay!
Avatar 6:50pm fred:

Clay is too precious to send over to Gaza, though that's the best hope I can think of
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Matt from Springfield:

Followed by...Angry Street History!
Round 1: FIGHT!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Uncle Michael:

I'm kind of opposed to the bombing of schools and hospitals...but that's just me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm chris:

I love it when we can disagree and respect each other. We need more of that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm maestroso:

Indeed, so am I Uncle Michael. Good show Clay.
Avatar 6:52pm Marcel M:

Always gotta have the token police state guy!!!!! (Not that I disagree...)
Avatar 6:52pm fred:

@dale: no offense. Call it as you see it. And I see it the same way
Avatar 6:53pm Marcel M:

@Chris: Yes that part made me smile also, agreed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

Meet the New Jim Crow...Same as the Old Jim Crow...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Uncle Michael:

What part of Wall Street do I control...and why am I the last to know?
Avatar 6:53pm dale:

he claims hamas uses hospitals and schools as shields. so let that go and just destroy the tunnels.
Avatar 6:53pm glenn:

it's a mess, and i'm glad i'm sitting here, far, far away from it.
Avatar 6:53pm Marcel M:

The Israel issue is SO SO sensitive... I have a family friend who has been my fathers friend for 50 years and they can discuss ANYTHING, except Israel... cannot even be mentioned.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Matt from Springfield:

@Marcel: Even before Zuccotti Clay featured that guy--now, it's practically required! :)
Avatar 6:54pm Marcel M:

@Matt: Which guy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks for what you do, Clay.

@Night Owl: Word to the wise. And more for me
  12:47pm TL:

Clay, I love you, but you gotta pull your head out of the sand. MSNBC/Rachel Maddow are better than FOX, for sure, but they're just corporate-owned news media that happens to cheer lead for Obama and Democrats. Check out DemocracyNow or TruthDig some time. They're definitely from a "left" point of view, but they don't just kowtow to the Democrats, you get a far more clear view of world events and politics, sans the Republican V. Democrat paradigm that US media stays in.
