A pleasant good evening to you Faye:-) the sun has set, now I may rise!

...There's Hope !
Swag For Life Member 9:05pm 12539:

I love that little bird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm Faye:

hello my darlings
  9:05pm Phillip in Brooklyn:

I'm a new listener and I like this show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It looks as if the frog is offering the bird a worm treat. As the show progresses, the treat will get farther away.
Avatar 9:08pm northguineahills:

Hello evenings Faye and/or children!
Avatar 9:09pm listener mark:

Bon soir mes petits, too much barbeque for me today. I will listen in a gravitational friendly way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Faye:

greetings ngh! always nice to hear people make up stories about simplegifs :)
  9:10pm rob steffens:

i've read about the Lewis record, that was my first listen, thanks DJ
  9:12pm P-90:

LOVE Hope Sandoval, also "Whirlin' Bird" feels like an old friend already...

Soo good.

(...because of VonSudenfed)
- on last UnderwaterThemePark - The Ought did a spirited Live set that was a bit like a TheFall you could dance to (make of that what you might) :

@RRN63 ^ I was JUST listening to that then I remembered Hello Children, swear to christ.

OT, but watching this video tour of the Lisa Frank HQ including glimpses at the original art. Just saying. www.theatlantic.com...
  9:37pm Cooh John:

Evening, Faye and fellow children. Great start to a great show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm children:

hello Faye.
hello others.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I been thinking there are maybe too many minutes wasted on 'Theme tunes' or predictable things - esp. for 'FreeForm' (altho' bed music & sounds are okay)...
  9:44pm JakeGould:

KZA sounds pretty good.
  9:44pm Phillip in Brooklyn:

Rather mellow start to your show Faye:) but that's ok I liked it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm I.K.E. (Ice King Enterprises):

I like theme tunes in many cases. But I like them better when the DJs switch them around now & then by, say, remixing or playing covers (e.g. Fabio's occasional spin of the Finnish version of "Mr. Giant Man"), or adding samples. Could stand to hear more Traktor mixes or backwards plays of theme songs, I suppose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Faye:

I like to hear themes because it gears me up & makes me excited for the upcoming show I know & love
  9:46pm nate:

I hope that bird doesn't throw up on the playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Faye:

lol @ nate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Ike:

ROTFL Nate, har har har.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...yeah - yer kinda right - depends...
  9:53pm P-90:

The idea of playing Hope Sandoval tracks as a "theme' is cool because it's a single artist but not the same song. So it could have that familiar, "gearing up" effect without being so narrowly defined, a nice variation on the idea of a "theme" song.
  9:54pm JakeGould:

For the record, I once found an abandoned sparrow on the street. Picked it up in my hands & took it home. Look at me befuddled like that. So I just took it back to the tree he fell out of.
Avatar 9:54pm listener mark:

If I had a radio programme, I'd open with a spoken word piece. I'd close with "Give Me Five Minutes More," sung Joey Bishop. The middle would be Depeche Mode, Mendelssohn, Dvořák, Grateful Dead, Woody Guthrie, and miscellaneous items from the new bin.
  9:55pm JakeGould:

I like themes. Otherwise I am lost.
Swag For Life Member 9:55pm 12539:

I like the idea of a themed intro (like efd always playing a song from the 70's) more than a specific theme song used repeatedly. Not that anyone asked me.
  9:59pm JakeGould:

EFD has a theme, yo. A very clear theme. Hello!
  10:03pm Ahmad:

I like The Long Rally's theme.
Swag For Life Member 10:03pm 12539:

I didn't say he doesn't have a theme, only that I prefer his themed opening track to actual themes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Faye:

I love the Long Rally theme! Also Dan Bodah theme
  10:04pm JakeGould:

The True Wheel!!!
  10:06pm P-90:

Long Rally does have an excellent theme. Also a way cool logo!
  10:07pm nate:

If you are a fan of The True Wheel, DJ Stashu recently played it at least 7 times in one show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Faye:

haha! I will check that out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...they talk about how TV programs used to have long themes that would lay out the whole series premise - all gone, now hardly even a tune...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm I.K.E. (Ice King Enterprises):

Yeah, those two themes were well-chosen as they are death-defying. They are astonishingly impossible to ever wear out.
  10:09pm JakeGould:

Stashu did that? I like her show but I gots to work, yo. And her archive doesn’t have individual track marks. So get unhappy with that so I don’t download it.
  10:11pm nate:

@Jake you can def. skip around her show via the mobile app
  10:13pm JakeGould:

@Nate. Now you can? Not jump around via the jump thing but the track stops. Chapters if you will. I prefer those.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh Ike !
...If *you* don't talk to your cat about catnip
- Who Will - ?!?...
  10:16pm Ahmad:

I like this version better than the original honestly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Faye:

hahaha yeahhh me2
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm I.K.E. (Ice King Enterprises):

HBO is holding out against that trend, @RRN63. Many of their shows still have amazing intros & theme music, esp. GOT. + The Leftovers is a new HBO show /a waaaaaaay over-the-top, eye-popping mega-GIFfy intro that really hammers the premise until it bleeds.
  10:17pm nate:

@Jake I can click on the playlist and it jumps to the song, with both my saved shows or recently archived ones.
  10:18pm Phillip in Brooklyn:

Crap!!! I had this CD and I sold it to second spin:-( good song
  10:18pm JakeGould:

Classic TV intros still win me over. “Space: 1999”, “Six Million Dollar Man”, “Odd Couple” all come to mind… They all told you what the premise of that show was right away.
  10:19pm JakeGould:

@Nate: Thanks for the tip. I hope Stashu’s ear is not ringing too much from us yentaing about the playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...ah! - Revived, Ike...I don't do cable - & honestly hardly watch anything - just listen to streams & podcasts...
  10:23pm rob steffens:

kill your television
  10:26pm JakeGould:

Don’t kill your TV. Just put it out on the sidewalk with a “Free! Works!” note on it.
Avatar 10:27pm listener mark:

the revolution will not be televised
  10:28pm rob steffens:

i'm already on the sidewalk!
  10:29pm JakeGould:

@rob Can you be sure to wear a “Works!” sign then so someone can take you home?
  10:30pm rob steffens:

i have that one
  10:30pm rob steffens:

works in progress
  10:31pm P-90:

"Maxinquaye": maybe one of the very best albums of the 90s, and def one of the most imaginative
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm íkє:

I know I shouldn't, but I love TV. It's the new golden age of TV. There's also way more junk on TV than ever. There's way more EVERYTHING than ever. And it brings many jobs to NYC -- many shows are filmed here now. L.A. is hurting BAD -- yay!
  10:34pm JakeGould:

I am so sick of all of the filming in NYC. Screw it. The whole city is like a set. Also I do not like modern TV since it’s all high-production value soap operas. Screw that. Give me old school TV.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm íkє:

Disagree there -- can't stand most of the procedural shows where you can watch the eps. in any order. I like the modern trend of ongoing storylines.
  10:43pm JakeGould:

We could have a debate about this, “I like the modern trend of ongoing story lines.” You mean you want your TV shows to be… THE BIBLE! That is my take on the trend in long arc narratives. Give me “Alice” any day.
  10:43pm JakeGould:

On topic—of the show—I’m liking this dancey set. THANKS, FAYE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Comedy TV for those with a short attention span can be found on Key & Peele. They had a hilarious bit about Hootie and the Blowfish.
  10:45pm JakeGould:

I like old “Kids in the Hall” and “Mr. Show” as well as “Fawlty Towers.” Yes, I do.
  10:45pm Elwyn:

I blame Breaking Bad for significantly lifting the quality of television. I can barely watch mediocre stuff like Falling Skies anymore.
  10:47pm JakeGould:

It all started with “Dallas” and “Twin Peaks” ya millenials.
  10:50pm Elwyn:

I never watched Dallas - I'm not like Bill from Freaks and Geeks. I never was interested in Twin Peaks except for the theme.
Avatar 10:53pm listener mark:

Studio 50
  10:53pm Ahmad:

It's like a degenerate Dylan!
  10:54pm JakeGould:

Brer Brian is pretty good.
  10:54pm Ahmad:

And I mean that in the nicest way possible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Faye:

yeah that's what I thought
  10:54pm nate:

they need to reboot Magnum P.I.
  10:56pm JakeGould:

I loved watching “Airwolf,” “Simon & Simon” and “Magnum P.I.” in my teenage years. You kids nowadays with the “Bad Breaks” and “Empire of the Boardwalks.”
  10:56pm Elwyn:

all I remember about Magnum PI are the damn awesome car, Tom Seller and the snooty English guy.
  10:58pm JakeGould:

I liked T.C. a lot. He flew the helicopter all over the place. Also the dobermans.
  10:59pm Phillip in Brooklyn:

I'm my lifetime I've watched more tv than any 10 people put together! It's not like it was in the 70's and 80's
  10:59pm Elwyn:

Airwolf was my favourite of that list. I own season 1-3 on DVD. saw one awful episode from season 4 late at night.
yet it was very formulaic... and whenever Caitlin got a new boyfriend, he'd always coincidentally be a pilot and a villain and die.
  11:00pm JakeGould:

Look at T.C. & Magnum’s t-shirts. ca.images.search.yahoo.com...
  11:00pm Phillip in Brooklyn:

I never watched Dallas. But I do watch DYNASTY
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I got digital antenna: 3 channels of PBS & one lousy NBC; watch PBS Newshour - & Grimm on NBC (on Summer vacation now)
...got highspeed 'Net @ home (just when y'all goin' mobile) - thot I'd watch DailyShow & Colbert - but not even...
  11:01pm JakeGould:

Elwyn, I have the Airwolf pilot movie on my iPhone. The opening scene where they get in the helicopter, but there is a lizard on the wheel. And then the lizard falls off. And looks at the helicopter fly off. Brilliantly stupid!
Avatar 11:02pm listener mark:

Ahh! One hour left! Somebody do something!
  11:04pm JakeGould:

Here. Look at this. Look at the lizard! www.youtube.com...
  11:04pm Phillip in Brooklyn:

I remember "airwolf" as well I watched anything that had guns and lasers and explosions
  11:05pm Elwyn:

I should get up or go back to sleep.
Avatar 11:06pm bobdoesthings:

Good Evening.
  11:07pm Phillip in Brooklyn:

*Sigh* one more hour left and the wing woman comes with 100% whatever
  11:08pm Elwyn:

I have been watching Dukes of Hazzard. Yay for Daisy Duke. it is really formulaic but those legs didn't quit.
  11:10pm JakeGould:

“Dukes of Hazzard” always creeped me out… It always seemed they were one horsecrap plot line away from a Klan rally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Daisy D's the style now they say
...leezard...helicopter porn
...Anywhere I can get AdventureTime online fer nothin'? That's supposed to be the stuff...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...hahaha: Yoo boys er one horsecrap plot line away from a Klan rally...
  11:19pm nate:

imagine a Dukes/Magnum crossover
  11:19pm JakeGould:

What about a standoff between T.C. & Stringfellow Hawk. Then Knight Rider would show up.
  11:20pm nate:

T.C vs Airwolf vs the pink helicopter from Riptide
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(...next week I am staying off poor Faye's comments board - most especially about dumb TV...)
  11:22pm JakeGould:

No, I meant an actual fistfight between T.C. & Stringfellow Hawk at a bar or something. Then Knight Rider shows up.
  11:23pm Elwyn:

what is TC?
  11:23pm nate:

I am talking about an air battle... above Boss Hogg's klan rally
Avatar 11:24pm listener mark:

Remember when JFK bombed Pearl Harbor in the Space Shuttle Challenger?
Avatar 11:25pm bobdoesthings:

our band name?? Oh it's "Peaking Lights" ... ::nudge nudge:: hehe you know what we mean!!
  11:25pm nate:

after being brainwashed by Serpentor
  11:25pm JakeGould:

Theodore "T.C." Calvin. The guy who flew the helicopter in “Magnum P.I.” Him and Stringfellow Hawk get into a fight at a bar… And then when the fight spills out onto the street, they fight on the hood of a car… And that car is K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider.
Avatar 11:26pm listener mark:

Which one of the Harry Potter books was Serpentor?
  11:27pm nate:

Let's work Jad Fair in as a special guest, just to keep things relevant to Faye's show
  11:28pm JakeGould:

The Jad Fair shows up. And they all get transported to the astral plane. And Jonathan Richman flips out on his drummer & a new fight happens.
  11:29pm nate:

The A-Team has to rescue the masters of Half Japanese's "The Charmed Life" LP from a scumbag record company exec
  11:30pm nate:

played by Penn Jillette
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm I.K.E. (Ice King Enterprises):

Oh yes @RRN63@11:11, many sites offer AT for free, though not precisely legally. Easy to Google. If you're watching in order, stick w/it, it evolves a lot. Try "City of Thieves," "What is Life?", "Princess Cookie," and "No One Can Hear You."
  11:30pm JakeGould:

Didn’t Penn Jillette get the tapes for that record by showing off money over lunch to the guy?
  11:31pm nate:

Yes...that's the story, anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
