The Eyvind Kang into Lou Harrison was genius!
  5:19pm P-90:

@DJ Gaylord: Starting right off with a magical mood, Thanks!
I might add that you looked slim, trim and truly healthy at the Monty Hall event.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Guido from Cologne:

Hi Gaylord!
Your show will be my lullaby music for tonight. (Must get up early.)
'till now it seems to work!
Don't get me wrong! I love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Gaylord Fields:

@Guido: I understand; it's Sunday night for you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Guido from Cologne:

Fits perfect!
  5:27pm P-90:

That was a true hybrid, the gamelan is written very faithfully in the Balinese style, but the melody is completely Western. Most composers who attempt that kind of thing prove to be rather ham-handed, but Lou nails it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: What Harrison does is technically a bastardization, but what a glorious bastard!
  5:30pm P-90:

...and now this! It seems inevitable somehow, the way the set was programmed...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(...have to say I love BrianWilson...'cause 'BeachBoys' idn't 'cool'...)
  5:44pm Ari:

Cleaners from Venus? Ok, I learned something today, thanks WFMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Guido from Cologne:

Sophisticated mix of vocal harmony tracks here. Thought there were some Byrds among them. surprised to find cleaners from Venus instead.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

"Psalm 92[a]
A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.

1 It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
2 proclaiming your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,
3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp.
4 For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
I sing for joy at what your hands have done"...
  5:57pm P-90:

"There's always room for Jello." And Doo Wop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Guido from Cologne:

I had Dorothy's voice in my head (the cloud song) this afternoon.
  6:00pm Jack:

I'm lighting the grill in about 5 minutes. It's a beautiful day here.
@Rev - thanks man! That's great.
Hey Gaylord, play something to accompany my hot dogs!
  6:01pm P-90:

Hi Samantha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: Samantha says you're nice. I believe her.
  6:08pm ScottC:

I just overlaid "Because" and "Moonlight Senota" - it sounded like a Mash-Up - who knew?
  6:09pm ScottC:

! Sonata ! scheesh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm Guido from Cologne:

The original 1963 John Berry TV soundtrack is out on El records (2013)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Guido from Cologne:

Good version!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Gaylord Fields:

@Guido: "Beat Girl" (the John Barry original) is one of my favorite songs!
  6:18pm P-90:

Yep, "Beat Girl" is def one of the all-time greats. The movie is uber-cool too.
Avatar 6:21pm TDK60:

Yeah, on Lou H. Saw good recent documentary on him.
  6:23pm Robert:

What language is this guy counting in? Langedoc? Catalan? French with a Spanish accent?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Guido from Cologne:

... also my favourite!
John Barry had a good sense for surf instrumentals
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Gaylord Fields:

@Robert: Ele está contando em Português.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Guido from Cologne:

Fun show!
Must gotobed!
  6:30pm Robert:

Thanks, Gaylord. I was trying Google Translate into Catalan and it came pretty close, at least.
Avatar 6:30pm Sem Chumbo:

Greetings @Sem. Good weather up your way?
  6:41pm sugarwolf:

Hello hello just got out of work
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& this reminds me of 'Into the Sun' by the Velvets...but - aha! - too similar for a segue...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Gaylord Fields:

Welcome. sugarwolf!
Avatar 6:45pm Sem Chumbo:

Hi, P-90, yes, if anything more humid that usual, but it beats the post-tropical storm of a a week or so ago. Thanks for asking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm northguineahills:

Faved this episode, thanks Gaylord, off I go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Gaylord Fields:

@Rev Rabbit...: There's a danger in being too on the nose.
Avatar 6:48pm Mayuko:

Ah! I didn't know you now have your comment page open, Gaylord!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Gaylord Fields:

@Carmichael: Don't forget the T!
Avatar 6:54pm TDK60:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Gaylord Fields:
