Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Thank you for checking out this playlist and for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I enjoyed putting it together for you. The interviews were recorded in Union Square Park in Manahttan the night beofre they were broadcast. I tried a new editing technique which was fun for me, and based my questions around the songs I selected to play this week. I had a good flea Monday in Brooklyn as my auto mechanic also has a cool mini-thrift store annex on his shop. I won't tell you whcih one because I have to get back there and pick up a few more before YOU get 'em. I was happy to find the Farquarh and the New Seekers "Blackberry Way," maybe a future CC7 selection? Not too soon to start thinking about it.

Well, I hope your summer is going swimmingly for you. I haven't had a cigarette in maybe 8-9 weeks?! It's hard on the weekends. Drink bone's connected to the smoke bone as they say. Sure am homesick for Western Iowa and would love to get back there. To any from that area who read this, I sure miss Audubon County and old friends. Much love.

FOr that matter, much love to you my friend, and I hope you'll tune in again. Tine for me to get some sleep. Always remember ... CPNYC

Hiya Clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm davex:

Hi Clay and everyone! Greetings from East Germany!
Avatar 6:02pm steve:

hi Clay
Avatar 6:04pm kat330:

I got my speed freak thrills as a kid on my dad's go-kart track. Never transferred that to an automobile.
Avatar 6:04pm Clay Pigeon:

VPrice, davex, steve. Good to see you!
Avatar 6:08pm northguineahills:

I hear some John Barry in the background.
Avatar 6:08pm Clay Pigeon:

good ear northguinea!
Avatar 6:10pm northguineahills:

I went as fast as one guy said he was going (the fastest) w/in 6 months of getting my license when I was 16. After that, it was rare I would approach 100. Now, 85 is as about as fast I go when the speed limit is 75.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm Matt from Springfield:

Hey Clay and Pigeonnaires!

Hi davex--what time of year is the Leipzig Goth festival? Julie and a guest mentioned that this morning.
Avatar 6:12pm kat330:

There is also the fact I never owned a car that wasn't either an old beater or tiny compact, so speed isn't viable beyond 70.
Avatar 6:13pm northguineahills:

I stumbled into a clickhole (not the onion) about the Leipzig Goth fest yesterday.
Avatar 6:14pm northguineahills:

( I used my father's 5 year old Plymouth Acclaim. Car didn't keep up well, but when newish, it could fly).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Matt from Springfield:

Clay's Favorite star: Starcastle!!

BESIDES Earth, Dummy!
Avatar 6:15pm kat330:

No one says Mars??
  6:16pm P-90:

Poor Pluto. Ignominiously bumped from the lineup
Avatar 6:17pm kat330:

@P-90: Ha! Philo sitting next to me here had answered "Pluto" as his fave. :)
Gotta say Saturn is a close second to Mars for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Guido from Cologne:

I could only tell about the most irresponsibe thing i did in car, that was my 20th birthday night, being the only guy with a licence, i was so pissed, i coudn't shift gears. My front-seat passenger had to do it.
  6:17pm P-90:

Saturn is GORGEOUS
Avatar 6:18pm V Priceless:

@ Clay - did you say Ralph Mace on synths?
  6:19pm Jonathan Herweg:

Hey clay , I'm out on the Hudson on a booze cruise.
Avatar 6:19pm Clay Pigeon:

It wasn't Ralph Mace, V. Now I can't remember. I'll out it on the playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

Saturn is gorgeous, and very noble looking with those broad magnificent rings. Plus--it can be seen with the naked eye! After that you have to go farther and use more futuristic technology to spot planets.
Avatar 6:20pm Clay Pigeon:

Sounds fun Johnathan! Keep a firm grip on the rail!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Matt from Springfield:

Love how he goes right from a Clay question he can't answer, right into shameless self-promotion! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Marcel M:

Liking the light heartedness of today's show Clay, very fun. Hi everyone happy Thursday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Marcel M:

@Matt: I chuckled at that too, he did it without a pause.
Avatar 6:21pm Clay Pigeon:

HahA Matt! So right. Hello Marcel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Matt from Springfield:

And, it goes without saying here: Hard right! NOT Bud Light!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Matt from Springfield:

@Marcel: ;D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Marcel M:

Speaking of baseball, on Sportsy talk monday they talked about the guy who pitched a no hitter on LSD in the 70s... I had never heard that before! How amazing!!!!
Avatar 6:23pm kat330:

Here a nice Saturn pic: www.wfmu.org...

But I know there's another I love ... still searching...
Avatar 6:24pm kat330:

Ooops....wrong paste.. apod.nasa.gov...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Matt from Springfield:

"I've been Mick Jagger-ed / I've been silver daggered..." Cooler name!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Marcel M:

Bah... singers are so freaking overrated... KEITH! All about the guitar baby.
Avatar 6:25pm V Priceless:

this sounds like a Laugh-In dance track!
Avatar 6:25pm northguineahills:

Jagger, just for his Lucifer Rising sndtrk.
  6:26pm P-90:

How can you "prefer" Mick or Keef when they define each other, they're mutually dependent for their identities
Avatar 6:26pm northguineahills:

MIT is Div III, and are called the Engineers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Saturn's polar hexagon...how can that be possible? It's amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Matt from Springfield:

I would answer Mick, but I have quite a bit of respect for Keith as well--if a large group I was with all answered "Mick", my support for the underdog would switch my answer to Keith.
Avatar 6:27pm Clay Pigeon:

ty northguinea! now i remember that.
Avatar 6:27pm V Priceless:

Keith is funnier
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: Like your interdependent description of Mick and Keith. The double sided coin, Ying and Yang if there was one in rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Matt from Springfield:

Did I just type "Ying"?! :)
Avatar 6:28pm steve:

getting random interviewees to sing is a great idea
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Marcel M:

@NorthGHills: Lucifer Rising was originally done by Page no? Then not used? I believe Mick did something else for Anger.
  6:30pm Whilst:

"Who the F**K is Mick Jagger?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Marcel M:

Mick did this one: en.wikipedia.org...
  6:31pm Jonathan Herweg:

I feel like the Eagles are the musical equivalent of menstrual blood...Keith over mick but one could not exist without the other ..
  6:32pm P-90:

Hi DJ Jherweg!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Matt from Springfield:

@JHerweg: So THAT'S why Andy B. likes the Eagles so much!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: How bout Screamin' Lord Sutch!!
Avatar 6:33pm kat330:

@Ken: Seems like a spacecraft landing field, nessy paw? ;)
Avatar 6:34pm Clay Pigeon:

I thought of that, Matt. Love Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends
Avatar 6:34pm northguineahills:

Page also did Lucifer Rising. Jagger's was scrapped (as was Page's), I think Bobby Beausoleil's was finally used, but Jagger's is out there if you look for it (all Moog noise madness).
Avatar 6:34pm kat330:

Again, *not* the one I had in mind, but still nice: apod.nasa.gov...
  6:35pm Jonathan Herweg:

Sorry clay I have string opinions about these things.
  6:36pm Jonathan Herweg:

Hi p-90
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Marcel M:

@North: So I just looked it up, director made a new film with scrapped parts of Lucifer Rising, and Mick did the soundtrack to that.
  6:36pm Jonathan Herweg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Marcel M:

@Jonathan: I think Clay is used to opposed WFMU dee jay and listener opinions.
Avatar 6:37pm V Priceless:

Avatar 6:37pm northguineahills:

Wow, cool Marcel!
Avatar 6:38pm Clay Pigeon:

I was more interested in Rick Roberts, Jonathan Herweg. Lot's of SoCal soft rockers on his LP, including early Eagles. Eagles have some songs I like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Marcel M:

Yeah, I didn't realize, thanks for mentioning it I gotta download that later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Matt from Springfield:

Light sleepers are more likely to remember their dreams, since waking up causes your conscious mind (and longer term memory) to turn back on, storing the results of your very short term sleep memory. Deep sleepers like me hardly remember dreams because that unconscious memory is constantly erasing and writing over itself..

Getting drunk isn't living it up... thats just a Tuesday. HAHAHAHAH! Thats great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

@Marcel: "...or, as I call it: every Thursday morning through Wednesday night!"
Avatar 6:41pm northguineahills:

I used to be a deep sleeper, and still vividly my dreams. In the last 10 years, I suppose stress and the loud ambiance that is NYC has left me a light sleeper. I haven't noticed a difference in vivid dreams. But, I've always enjoyed the prospect of sleep for dreams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Marcel M:

@Matt: Indeed!
Avatar 6:43pm northguineahills:

(vividly remembered my dreams)
Avatar 6:44pm steve:

i have super clear awesome dreams when i return from vacation or travelling. must be all those everyday psychic inhibitors loosening up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Matt from Springfield:

Great ramp up to the tape turn, Clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Matt from Springfield:

@steve: That's wonderful! If my mind's uncluttered enough when on vacation, I should meditate on that and see if I can have vivid dreams.
  6:46pm P-90:

Yeah, i love that "Harry Harrison Style" drive-time radio weather report and hot weather hydration tip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Mintberry Crunch from South Park.
Avatar 6:47pm steve:

My fave's Huckleberry. I like a good Finn.
Avatar 6:52pm steve:

make note of it Matt - i've talked to a few people about that and i think it happens to a lot of us without realizing it. happens to me with good/freeing stuff and bad/anxiety producing stuff. no dreams on mundane work days!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

I will make note - thanks for the inspiration steve!
Avatar 6:53pm kat330:

There's Dick Sisto locally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Marcel M:

@Clay: Love when people say deep stuff on your show when its unexpected.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm davex:

Funny group of interviewees today, Clay. But always interesting - and I enjoyed the slight variation on your interview and editing style.
Avatar 6:58pm cosmic matrix:

clay, went on a 4th of july excursion and played your bonus CD of poptras and had just the best time driving ever.....my friends just love that shit.....you are so talented!!!! thanks buddy.
Avatar 6:58pm V Priceless:

fun show Clay! Thanks!
Avatar 6:58pm steve:

Beatles all the way. So many ideas ahead of their time in their albums. Sonically, musically, conceptually. Rolling Stones to me are just the ultimate drunken bar band.
