Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Rory:

Gezan track was insane. Nice start Diane.
Avatar 12:15pm Diane Kamikaze:

Hello All! All hail indeed! Thanks for tuning in. NO guest today.....
Avatar 12:17pm Claw!:

Hey Diane! Show's off to a nice start! Really looking forward to everything else you have in store for us. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Rory:

Randy Fucking Holden!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm chris:

Loving where this show is going, Diane. Feels just right...
Avatar 12:21pm fred von helsing:

i could feel good about this early 70s stuff but i know that its future is disco
Avatar 12:23pm V Priceless:

just non-stop Fun Machine classic cuts and bruises!
Avatar 12:25pm fred von helsing:

has this show ever played watcher of the skies ?
  12:25pm Tim in VT:

Takes me back to a sweaty attic in 1973… Those tube amps- how the dust smoldered
Avatar 12:26pm herb.nyc:

oops, i misread as ICE CREAM. this is fun music while im at the public library. seriously. uh, question - should i feel ashamed of myself for seeing DEAD KENNEDYS tonight? (i won tix)
Avatar 12:29pm V Priceless:

@ herb - not if you won tix...if you paid for 'em, maybe..but that's just me.
Avatar 12:37pm V Priceless:

Avatar 12:37pm herb.nyc:

sure, i'd go on a DATE with you diane. as would most of us.
Avatar 12:38pm herb.nyc:

@ V Priceless - i had read reviews of recent tours, that the band is still great. i wonder who singer is.
Avatar 12:58pm Cecile:

great stuff.
fistfight in the parking lot!
Avatar 12:59pm V Priceless:

Hi C - never heard of 'em!
Avatar 1:01pm Cecile:

it's a SNL sketch.
this band, crisis of conformity reunites for a kid's wedding
hilarity ensures
and you can even find the song as a mp3
Avatar 1:02pm Cecile:

ha! i just bought my first copy of Psalm 9 this past week
Avatar 1:02pm PKNY:

TROUBLE!!!!!!!! \m/
Avatar 1:04pm PKNY:

@Cecile: I found a minty original copy of 'Psalm 9' in an antique store in November, was so happy!
Avatar 1:04pm V Priceless:

this is a real testimony to Gibson guitar power!
Avatar 1:05pm Cecile:

nice, pkny! I am still stoked I found the "Trouble" album for $3 used a few years back. The cover made the hipsters laugh so they underpriced it.
Avatar 1:05pm Cecile:

little did they know...
Avatar 1:06pm PKNY:

Wow, are you talking about the Def American self-titled record? That's a score!
Avatar 1:07pm Cecile:

I was trying not to shriek.
Avatar 1:08pm Cecile:

I got manic frustration for $12 on eBay. This auction slid in just after a hotly contested one for the same thing ($75!) so I did buy it now.
Avatar 1:09pm Luna:

hooray, I'm finally here to HEAR and LISTEN and ENJOY!
Avatar 1:10pm Cecile:

if they were smart they would have had BIN at $25, but they didn't.
  1:11pm JJ Koczan:

Good call on the Trouble. Was bummed that tour didn't come north.
Avatar 1:13pm PKNY:

Nice! I have the CD of the Def American S/T, and even that goes for a decent amount. However, I won't give it up until I get a hold of a vinyl copy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Rory:

Another great set of music Diane.
Avatar 1:18pm Cecile:

hey, JJ!

Avatar 1:30pm Luna:

Wow, diggin' this Agalloch tune.
Avatar 1:31pm Luna:

I just wish it were served with a side of pork chop.
Avatar 1:31pm Luna:

  1:33pm JJ Koczan:

Hey Cecile!
Avatar 1:33pm Cecile:

wow godflesh sound like what I always wanted Killing Joke to sound like
Avatar 1:34pm Cecile:

how is it going?
thanks for guesting the other week - that Beast of the field was a great rec - found a place where Ican buy their CDs (next payday)

Do you know a band called Zebulon Pike?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm common:

kept hearing bad things about the new godflesh, but i dig it. sounds like godflesh!
  1:37pm JJ Koczan:

Doing well, thanks. Yeah, I know Zebulon Pike. Cool band. I streamed their last record back in 2012.
Avatar 1:38pm Cecile:

They are the nicest guys you will ever hope to meet.
Glad you like them!
  1:39pm JJ Koczan:

That's cool. How do you know them?
Avatar 1:42pm Cecile:

They're from Minneapolis, and I covered them a few times for City Pages back when I was writing. Think I snuck in a npr song of the day for them too, also back when I was writing. One of about three performers from my writing days who I still follow.
Avatar 1:42pm Cecile:

local performers, I mean
Avatar 1:44pm Cecile:

here's a link to an old article...was it 10 yrs ago? ay yi yi

anyway they are still around.
  1:44pm JJ Koczan:

I'm pretty sure I heard that NPR piece on them. I seem to recall laughing at Robert Siegel saying the phrase "stoner metal" in his lead-in.
Avatar 1:47pm Cecile:

nah, it was just a song of the day blurb for their webpage. Nothing recorded. Song of the day kind of disintegrated about 2 yrs ago.
  1:48pm JJ Koczan:

Maybe it was a SXSW thing then. Cool either way.
Avatar 1:50pm V Priceless:

anyone catch the blurb about Queen live '74 double disc due later this year? From legendary Rainbow gigs - set list very impressive, including lottsa 'Sheer Heart Attack' which had not yet been released at the time of the recording.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm common:

VP: that sound great. love sheer heart attack
Avatar 1:51pm Cecile:

yeah, exactly JJ. They deserve any good that comes their way.

is it a double DVD or album, V?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm common:

Avatar 1:54pm Diane Kamikaze:

I think it's a CD, although maybe there is footage as well..? I did hear the same news tho, and psyched at the time period it's from!

  1:55pm JJ Koczan:

There it is. Thanks for the Voivod fix, Diane!
Avatar 1:58pm Diane Kamikaze:

You are most welcome!
Avatar 1:58pm V Priceless:

@ common - agreed! They were kinda slowly creeping down hill after Sheer, IMO. I always broke it down into two phases with them: pre-mustache and post-mustache.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm common:

VP - hee hee. i agree!
  2:02pm marmalade kitty:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm chris:

Missed two awesome sets. Damnitall! Archives, woot!
Avatar 2:04pm Chris from DC:

Ok, so Agalloch and Mournful Congregation playing the same night next weekend. Which do I see? This is a dilemma.
Avatar 2:05pm Cecile:

hey, Diane, do you have that Soft Pink Matmos Guy cover album? I've heard some stuff from it - it's both funny and pretty respectful.
Avatar 2:06pm Cecile:

how far away from each other are they?
  2:07pm A.Black:

You have chance to see both bands , since Mournful Congregation is playing two days at Saint Vitus
Avatar 2:09pm Chris from DC:

Agalloch is in town, MC is in Baltimore.
Avatar 2:12pm Cecile:

who came farther to play and is closer to death?

Avatar 2:12pm Diane Kamikaze:

Hey Cecile; the only Soft Pink Truth record we have here is the new wave covers one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm common:

i'm with you cecile!
Avatar 2:16pm Cecile:

Oh, OK, thanks for looking Diane!
Avatar 2:16pm Chris from DC:

Hmm, there's a good criterion. I tend to think Mournful Congregation is a rarer show.
Avatar 2:19pm Cecile:

yeah, I hate to be so blunt about it, but for me these days, that's what it comes down to.
Avatar 2:20pm Cecile:

I got this album from people I babysat as a HS graduation present.
Avatar 2:20pm Cecile:

the bass player earned his money that day
Avatar 2:22pm MenfussMike:

is Nazareth the greatest Scottish band ever?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm common:

@menfussmike: yes.
Avatar 2:24pm Cecile:

does AC/DC count?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm common:

@cecile: yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm chris:

Fucking Mastodon. that was a baller intro.
Avatar 2:25pm MenfussMike:

kinda sucks for Dan McCafferty that he had to quit
Avatar 2:25pm Cecile:

then no, they are only #2. but still.
Avatar 2:26pm MenfussMike:

NAZARETH > AC/DC ?!?!?!?!
Avatar 2:26pm Cecile:

this is a little less Pink Floyd than the last album or two.
Avatar 2:26pm Cecile:

NO, AC/DC > Nazareth
Avatar 2:26pm MenfussMike:

that might be a bad thing Cecile
Avatar 2:27pm Cecile:

It is also a little more 'active rock" than the last two.
Avatar 2:27pm MenfussMike:

Mastodon doesn't do much for me. I'm going to see EYEHATEGOD tonight, so get me in the mood
Avatar 2:28pm Cecile:

anthemic, even. :/
Avatar 2:28pm Cecile:

their first 4 or so are pretty primo.
  2:29pm Turntable 3:

Can't blame this one on me.
Avatar 2:30pm Cecile:

  2:31pm Dean:

At the opening of one of the tracks on one of the recent High on Fire live disks somebody shouts, "Play the one about the whale!" Clearly, the reference was to Mastodon's stab at Moby Dick.
Avatar 2:32pm Cecile:

hahahahahhahahhaha Dean
Avatar 2:34pm Cecile:

this is almost as nuts as Sigh, now that I think about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm chris:

I agree, Cecile.
  2:46pm bill:

Dja see the EHG rave in the NYT of all places? "half-slovenly, half-graceful, impossibly deep"
Avatar 2:47pm Cecile:

Hrm. anyone who loves Mastodon more unconditionally around?
Avatar 2:48pm Cecile:

Now that is a good, anthemic chorus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm chris:

Yep, this would have been a killer segue from Mastodon, Diane.
Avatar 2:50pm Diane Kamikaze:

Sigh is still in their own league, but the new Mastodon definitely skirts with "left-fieldedness" at times!
Avatar 2:57pm V Priceless:

thanks for the RAWK, Diane!
Avatar 2:57pm Cecile:

what year is from?
Avatar 2:57pm t_J:

cross bridging the establishment between evry1 sex and ages - immortal familys begin
Avatar 2:57pm Diane Kamikaze:

Avatar 2:58pm t_J:

hi evry1 and hi Diane
Avatar 2:58pm Cecile:

it has that first Montrose album feel to it.
Avatar 2:59pm Diane Kamikaze:

I was actually gonna play Montrose earlier
Avatar 3:00pm t_J:

that year brought me a lot of very important fellas to my life funny eM ..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm chris:

Thanks, Diane. Thanks everyone for the conversation!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:
