Avatar 3:54pm steve:

if i was listening to Casey Kasem's top 40 on FM radio in Northern NJ in the early 90s, what station would I have been listening to? Z100?
  3:54pm P-90:

Had to look at the playlist: "Is that what I think it is?" Yup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Matt from Springfield:

And now a skiffle type version! ZOMG! #SkiffleVanHalen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Matt from Springfield:

Hey P-90. Yep, I've had that reaction before! :)
Avatar 3:55pm Droll:

This would be a Van Halen tribute band worth seeing. Nice pickin'!

I'm sad to hear about Kasem, but honestly I'm sure I've listened to more Dr. Demento countdowns than AT40s.
  3:58pm mb:

Oh yes! More Brandon Seabrook. Tremendous follow up to Crick's effort.
Avatar 3:59pm Chris from DC:

Yeah, he's playing down here Saturday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If an acoustic Hocus Pocus comes up next, I'm sure amEdeo would appreciate it.

Yo La Tengo: Consistently making everybody else look bad since nineteen-eighty-something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Matt from Springfield:

@Greg: Making everyone else look rude, untalented and unimaginative..
Avatar 4:27pm T_Jay Pauli:

gr8 - lovely karpe diem related message on that last track
Avatar 4:28pm steve:

mike PLJ was my only other guess. but i think its gotta be z100. all of my other earliest radio memories from then, ~1990 (as a wee lad with a clock radio and radio-only walkman and those cheapo foamy Sony headphones everyone used to have) seem to revolve around z100 and hot97. it couldnt have been hot97.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Michele:

@Greg hahaha good one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Matt from Springfield:

Woooohoooooo! Ground Floor Performance Space Public Eventage Certificates Celebration Party!!!!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Matt from Springfield:

A seedy CD..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Greg from Bloomfield:

I'm leaving a pool party early and driving 3 hours to make the Grand Opening. It's THAT important.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Andrew Waterloo:

The Top 40 played on our local all hits station. I believe I was listening to that the most around 1991 and then latched onto the local new and classic rock station when I got to highschool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm DCE:

@ steve and Mike East...can I join your club? I think mine is from 1981.

@RTD: McEwan's Scotch Ale "Champion", quite literally the only beer I've flown into the US with my baggage!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Matt from Springfield:

VampiSoul, one of those labels that can do no wrong.
Avatar 5:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Nothing quite that exotic, Matt, but it's a fine specimen:
  5:33pm P-90:

@Brazil 1970; I LOVE that sound

@ Matt & the Beersies People: Here I'm trying to stay nice and clear-headed to get some work done, and you guys are making a nice cold lager/Scotch Ale/watermelon Wheat Beer sound sooooo good
  5:36pm P-90:

[in petulant drag-queen voice] You're nothing but a bunch of cheap temptresses!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Matt from Springfield:

@RTD: Looks good, I need to research Scotch ales a bit more to fill in knowledge gaps. "Wee Heavy" @8.50% ABV!

@P-90: You can keep your thoughts sober..just get your fantasies plastered! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Matt from Springfield:

(looking up which Eighth Ave haunt specializes in "petulant" drag queens...)
Avatar 5:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Matt: i'd say head "downtown," or so Petulant Clark would have us do...
Avatar 5:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The management would like to apologize for that pun. The offending Reverend has been snuffed, to be replaced with a fresh one immediately.
Avatar 5:40pm steve:

i like my beer cold, my radio loud, and my drag queens petulant
  5:40pm P-90:

@Rev. Turnip: Founders' Dirty looks scrumptious, just my kind of thing, I've never seen Founder's in NY, though.

@Matt VS: look up "Petula's Palace of Petulance Pub" on Tenth Ave
Avatar 5:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

P-90 -- Founders gets wide distribution down here (dc); it's gotta be available in NY somewhere, demmit.. Good stuff. Recommended.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Matt from Springfield:

It's the day after Father's Day--Bad Puns may continue for a while longer...

@4Ps-90: Thanks! ;)
  5:47pm Rory:

This Colin Sherman track is great.
  5:48pm 3rd Uncle Stanley:

Thanks for keeping the office a happy place.
  5:49pm P-90:

@ Rev. Turnip: I'm surprised, we get all kinds of stuff here, I'll have a look at some of the specialty places. The beer business is a little funny, very competitive, some local brands can offer distributors a lot of "incentives" to limit their selection of regional brands. BUT in NY we have lots of super fresh (like 2-3 days old) Yeungling beers & ales from PA, one of the real old-fashioned quality American breweries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Scott Williams:

Thanks everyone! No show next week - Scott McDowell holding down the fort! See you in 2 weeks, with some live Italian psych from Father Murphy, check 'em out.
