Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05am Liz Berg:

Greetings folks! Just couldn't resist this piece on a rainy morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05am maestroso:

Good morning Liz! Very nice beginning.

Good morning Liz and folks!
Avatar 9:12am nah:

hello Liz and other peoples! Nice start!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Guido from Cologne:

hello everyone!
not quite rainy enough here.
some cooling would have been welcome right now.
well, we're never satisfied ...
Avatar 9:17am nah:

@guido: you should try a ice-cream taco, I just had one. Cooled me right down.
Avatar 9:18am d¢ pät:

Rain? What rain?
Avatar 9:19am d¢ pät:

somebody say taco?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am Guido from Cologne:

no taco here, but lemoncello ice-cream.
good idea! i'll try out.
Avatar 9:22am northguineahills:

fine, I'll make tacos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am Liz Berg:

Lemoncello ice cream? Sounds dangerous and exciting!
Avatar 9:28am Chris from DC:

Ah, new Telegraphy, cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29am Guido from Cologne:

Well, my favoured Italian cafe offers a special "Lemoncello Cup"-creation, with lemon ice and the liquer itself as ingredient and some wonderful lemon-sauce topping, which is as a whole really delicious. I have some industry stuff right here, which looks good, but we will see about the taste.
  9:29am Spencer:

Hey Liz! I forgot to tell you about the crawfish boil in Williamsburg yesterday :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am Liz Berg:

Sorry to have missed out on the crawfish, Spencer! Probably for the best, though. My stomach is still a little iffy after getting food poisoning from a mango a few weeks ago.

Public service announcement: scrub your mango with soap and water before cutting into it!
Avatar 9:34am d¢ pät:

wow. how do you know it was the mango?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Liz Berg:

Had french toast for breakfast, topped it with mango... ran some errands and when I got back home felt exhausted with stabbing pain in my gut, even got the chills!
Avatar 9:37am d¢ pät:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am Liz Berg:

All I can say is beware of the mangoes!
Avatar 9:39am d¢ pät:

I'd pitch the eggs too if I were you. Anyways, Flying Saucer Attack is my new fave tune!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Parq:

So those street mango blossoms are forget-it city, then. Figures.
Avatar 9:41am nah:

awful story Liz, glad you're OK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Parq:

And Pat. it's FMA, so grab it.
Avatar 9:42am d¢ pät:

Avatar 9:42am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 9:43am still b/p:

When a friend texted that she'd just palpated the mangoes at the grocery store last night, I noted that they had all the luck. She said they'd smiled and cooed. So that's how they fool ya, hiding their fangs and their malice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am Guido from Cologne:

had two mild food poisonings last month, i suspect from mold.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am Liz Berg:

As much as it breaks my heart, Parq, those street mango blossoms on a stick are no longer for me!
Avatar 9:50am d¢ pät:

May I just say, this is exactly what radio should sound like. Taking me places I haven't been before. Hanx.
Avatar 9:53am Lucas:

Hello Liz and listeners!! No more german on mondays during the summer = more Liz Berg :)!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Guido from Cologne:

Hallo Liz!!
@Guido: bitte! lass mich ein bisschen atmen :) !
Avatar 10:07am d¢ pät:

just got the official word--all office TVs will be tuned to the World Cup starting Thursday...
Avatar 10:08am Rev. Turnip Druid:

GAAAAH, no World Cup teevee in this office...
Avatar 10:10am Rev. Turnip Druid:

But will have several Cup-friendly pubs within short walk of new place, but that's next month, & still need to actually "move" -- ugh.
  10:12am Marmalade Kitty:

Is this Donald duck fighting with Ari up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Guido from Cologne:

I go for Liz Berg's show and Ice Cream Cup Creations.
I hate corrupt main stream sport entertainment and world cups!
Avatar 10:12am d¢ pät:

I've carefully arranged my life around the WC. Everything is set and ready to go...
  10:13am Marmalade Kitty:

i'd like to see it:)
Avatar 10:13am Chris from DC:

Yay, Priests.
Avatar 10:14am d¢ pät:

wow, Priests. They're from DC right?
Avatar 10:15am Chris from DC:

Oh yes. Go see them some time. Amazing live band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Tome:

good good morning ..
Avatar 10:17am nah:

@dc pat: I feel for you people who don't get all the games on perfect tv-time. However, lucky that your office knows what's what.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am Guido from Cologne:

they are allowing prolonged public TeVee-display @ night during world cup in order to meet the time zone incompatibilities! I'm facing sleeples summer nights. I connot get pissed every night. Or i will turn up the amps @ night and bless the neighborhood with some inspired guitar improvisations.
Avatar 10:19am d¢ pät:

we're very international--CIO is french, the office manager is Irish but likes futbol, lots of Latin peoples...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am Guido from Cologne:

By the way:
The lemoncello ice-cream was quite nice.
Avatar 10:22am nah:

@guido: that is awful. I think you should go the amp way. I will watch most of the games at home on my own, without shouting (at least not too much). Glad to see the ice-cream was good. My favourite ice-cream brand used to make a lovely dulce de leche one, but they have stopped doing it. Shameful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am mariano:

Tainted Mango: great band name and/or show title!
Avatar 10:23am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Still need to find my ideal cozy pub for footie freaking. Research commences ASAP.
Avatar 10:25am d¢ pät:

there will be a mix of home viewing with the kids; bar viewing with friends; bar viewing, sitting by myself, drinking.
Avatar 10:27am d¢ pät:

this is fantastic.
Avatar 10:27am nah:

I doub't I'll go to a bar but I hope I get friends around for some games and that my dad is up for watching all the Germany games with me. Since Sweden failed, they are the next team to get our support. Just hope I manage to meet my deadline despite 270+ minutes of football per day.
Avatar 10:28am Lucas:

@nah: sad to hear about the dulce de leche :( I only like finals and the team I chose often losses. If you ever come to Vienna you need to try the Eismarillenknödel (ball of ice cream with a peach in the center) soooo guuuuut
Avatar 10:29am nah:

@Lucas: I'm on the next flight over!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am mariano:

@Lucas: I remember Austria as having a rather dizzying array of amazing sweets altogether.
Avatar 10:30am nah:

@Lucas: wait, a whole peach?
Avatar 10:31am d¢ pät:

1 Ireland (boo); 2 USA; 3 Deutschland
Avatar 10:32am nah:

(I think it would be nice if Brazil win it at home though)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am Guido from Cologne:

... or I will drill the world-cup audio through various effect boards and call that "The Tainted Mango perform The World Cup Live!" and start some illegal beer selling along with it ...
  10:32am tstamp82:

that Glenn Mercer stuff is great. You've played it before but I can't find it anywhere, I remember you stating that it was a CDR?
Avatar 10:32am Lucas:

@nah: not a whole peach but a piece, sorry :) but is really good and cheap!! @ Mariano: yeah you are right :) !!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am Liz Berg:

Brilliant plan, Guido!
  10:33am tstamp82:

Awesome Alvarius B!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Liz Berg:

tstamp82: the Glenn Mercer tracks are from a new CD-R, the release doesn't look official. Maybe you could track him down on the internet to get a copy?
Avatar 10:36am nah:

@Lucas: that's alright. I just imagined a huge ball of ice-cream, which isn't such a bad thing.
Avatar 10:36am fred:

Hello Liz and lizners!
Hey Lucas! Nice to "see" you back here
Avatar 10:37am Lucas:

Hey Fred!!! yeah, I have free monday afternoon now :) !
Avatar 10:38am Lucas:

@nah: but I think they dont do it because people would become crazy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am Andrew Waterloo:

Wow. that Charles Bradley rendition of Changes had me double checking who wrote it.
Avatar 10:39am Lucas:

great cumbia Liz!
Avatar 10:39am fred:

@Lucas: I saw Meridian Brothers two days ago, pretty good, especially with the sun out for a change
Avatar 10:41am Lucas:

@Fred: I was thinking about that!! Nice you liked it!! I havent heard yet their new album
Avatar 10:41am Rick:

Really enjoying the show, Liz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Guido from Cologne:

Hello Fred! How was Villette Sonique?
Did Bibi Geist show up?
Some nice photo of Nisennenmondai with Juana Molina from yesterday:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am Andrew Waterloo:

@Fred.. cool, Meridian Brothers was a great discovery while listening to People Like Us
Avatar 10:44am d¢ pät:

aw MAN! I wanna see the Meridian Bros! @fred, you're in France right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am thriftstoreleather:

that's tight!
Avatar 10:45am Lucas:

@ Andrew Waterloo: do you know Los Pirañas? if not you could like it, is their other project, more Cumbia, but really good as well
Avatar 10:46am fred:

@Guido: I saw both Juana Molina and (of course) Nisennenmondai. You were right about their being more minimal this time, I loved it. Too bad they only had small T-shirts left, I've had way too many beers for those. There were so many people I didn't find Bibi or Pierre
Avatar 10:46am d¢ pät:

Los Piranas are bombs going off everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am Greg from Bloomfield:

Morning Liz + everybody!
Avatar 10:47am Chris from DC:

Still need to pick up this Carsick Cars album. So good.
Avatar 10:47am fred:

@dc pat: yep, near Paris
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Andrew Waterloo:

@Lucus, don't know Los Piranas, will have to check it out though. The part of me that loved Tipsy liked Meridian Brothers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am thriftstoreleather:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49am Andrew Waterloo:

A few days a ago I saw an acapella group cover Meredith Monk, Moondog, and Philip Glass. That was fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am mariano:

This Clientele is great! I'm not super familiar with them, and I always associated their sound with the Minotaur album. Good to hear a different production style/aesthetic, I love it when bands do that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Liz Berg:

Agreed, Mariano. Normally their production is a little too slick for my taste, but I liked this one quite a bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Guido from Cologne:

The Clientele instantly produced all in all 6 star clicks at once, or more?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am mariano:

@Guido: Great minds think alike!
Avatar 10:59am d¢ pät:

stupid meeting time. Thanks for the tunes LizB!
Avatar 11:00am thedunkel:

YES! Hat of Flames! I have this song kicking in my head all morning! Thanks LizB
Avatar 11:08am nah:

this escorpiao is brilliant
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am mariano:

So many clicks, love the guitar-band segment of the show! Love the other segments too, but this is a nice wake-me-up to start the week.
Avatar 11:12am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Räjäyttäjät -- Want these guys to play my birthday party.
Avatar 11:12am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Now I need a birthday party.
Avatar 11:16am Lucas:

Just need pool and some beers. Could be nice to listen to the show underwater, like with special headphones
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Guido from Cologne:

Nothing can really wake me up today!
But do love the show!
Avatar 11:18am Rev. Turnip Druid:

...and these Wand guys. But no icecream. Curry. Curry everywhere. And these guys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Guido from Cologne:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Guido from Cologne:

Ty Segall ... the eternal an relentless Ty Segall ...
  11:21am Yair yona:

Monotonix early shows in Tel Aviv were legendary . They were amazing. Good to hear Yonatan has a new album, he's a nice dude
Avatar 11:21am fred:

Bad things from Villette Sonique: Food trucks are coming here, but they're the hipster-friendly kind. Pad Thai? Great! But at 9€ for a tiny portion? Not so great
And it looks like summer is there
  11:25am Yair yona:

BTW, Monotonix's frontman Ami Shalev has a new band, him and a drummer. Crazy weird punk blues thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Guido from Cologne:

Dunno, but isn't that the way money is made on free festivals?

That's how I know about Rheinkultur in Bonn. No real how many percentages go to the organizers or how much is a licence for opening a catering stand ...

Or isn't it a free festival?
Avatar 11:25am Lucas:

@fred: I can imagine :s
Avatar 11:26am Lucas:

@fred: OHhh I saw Radian. Actually one of my german classmates is the wife of the guitarrist :) ! jajaja I went backstage with them before the concert
  11:27am rw:

Whew. That set WAS pretty friggin' great set Ms. Berg. I think I'm gonna pick me up a copy of the Angkanang Kunchai with Ubon-Pattana Band LP
Avatar 11:28am fred:

@Guido: it's a free festival, but they probably get something from the trucks. Those trucks were fancy though, and the line would have been worth a picture: pure hipsterdom
Avatar 11:28am fred:

@Lucas: Cool! Did you like the music?
  11:29am KP:

Hey Liz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Liz Berg:

Yair, thanks for the Monotonix news! Hi KP!
  11:30am ?:

saw that meridian brothers comment. love that record. ooooh OOIOO boredoms right? Cool record.
Avatar 11:31am Lucas:

Thats why I avoid festivals. The only festival I would like to attend every year is Sonic Protest. @fred: Yeah! it was interesting. Some times I wasnt that enthousiastic about the clockwork coordination but first time a see something like this. They told me that the Paris concert was the first of the tour they were making and that for them wasn't as good as they would like
  11:31am GeesyCreesy:

Thanks for playing this new OOIOO. I did not realize they had a new release.
Avatar 11:35am fred:

I hear you about the clockwork side, but I tend to like that... hey I'm probably still Nisennenmondai's biggest fan over here. I liked Radian, not my fave set of Sonic Protest (that would be Selvhenter, not even close) but good nonetheless.
  11:35am rw:

OOIOO. How does one pronounce that?
  11:36am Marmalade Kitty:

Avatar 11:37am fred:

That OOIOO track made me want to see them with Arrington de Dioniso, see how those Indonesian influences could clash
  11:37am ?:

oh eye oh, just a guess
  11:38am rw:

I kinda like ooeeoo.
Avatar 11:39am Lucas:

@fred: I love Nisennenmondai too, but I have the impression the guys of Radian were not having fun, I dont know, but it was good though
Avatar 11:44am Lucas:

OOIOO makes me think of Yugi-Oh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Guido from Cologne:

I prefer clubs from festival if ever possible.
I dislike large places and big stages and huges crowds anyway.

But I know that festivals are the best places for exposure and making some money (if sponsored) for lesser known artists.
Avatar 11:45am fred:

@Lucas: yep, they didn't look like they were having fun at Sonic Protest either. Maybe that's just their way. Selvhenter sure looked like they were having fun, do see them if they come to Vienna
Avatar 11:47am Rev. Turnip Druid:

This Die Partei track is not far from some of Holger Czukay's more playful solo tunes.
Avatar 11:48am Lucas:

@fred: Yes sir!
@Guido: I agree, fstivals, in general are good for the bands but difficult for the public
Avatar 11:49am Rev. Turnip Druid:

...ah, [notices Bureau B] -- that s'plains it. Excellent label.
Avatar 11:49am nah:

been a great show ms berg, thanks a lot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Liz Berg:

Rev - Die Partei was a supergroup formed from members of Wirtschaftswunder and Siluetes 61. Right up my alley!

what a GREAT show as always, Liz. Thanks...this Destruction Unit track is amazing; cannot imagine how fun it must be live...

  11:59am paula pc:

@ guido -- i was thinking the opposite...bim should put out a record every week!
  8:16am Jaakko:
