Avatar 3:17am Jay/London:

Avatar 3:20am Bill Mac:

Hey all, weather has been pretty good this week. This'll be the best of it I would imagine.
Avatar 3:23am Jay/London:

not this side of the pond had two days in the last week it was sunny seems to be taking it's time for summer to start
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24am Guido from Cologne:

Summer arrived here in Germany.
For the Weekend plus one monday-holiday a least.
Avatar 3:25am Andy in Berlin:

a bee-ootiful day over here. Waking up jetlagged from my trip to NY. Missed you at the record fair. Bill. Heard you were a might wasted. :)
Avatar 3:34am Bill Mac:

Hey Andy, nothing compares to using a map in the crowded confines of Manhattan - on no sleep no less...
Avatar 3:38am Andy in Berlin:

@ Bill - well if I makes you feel better I'm sitting here waiting for the coffee till I discovered I never turned on the burner.
Avatar 3:40am Brian in UK:

Here we are again,
Happy as can be,
All good friends
And jolly good company.
Avatar 3:42am Brian in UK:

Bums up & kneeling is my motto.
Avatar 3:42am Sem Chumbo:

Not if I have my head down and eyes averted as well.
Avatar 3:51am Bill Mac:

I used to have a piggy bank that did that Brian.... I put ALL of my pennies in the slut - I'm mean slot!!!
Avatar 3:55am Bill Mac:

Who said it wouldn't be a Bill Mac show if I didn't play Beefheart last week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55am Guido from Cologne:

the Don of the day!
Avatar 3:56am Bill Mac:

It WAS Guido!
Avatar 3:56am Sem Chumbo:

Oh, great, Bill, What a nice segue!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56am Guido from Cologne:

Featuring Doug Moon of the original Magic Band!
Avatar 3:57am Bill Mac:

I thought it might also better elaborate on my comment on the buns up piggy bank I used to have.
Avatar 3:58am Sem Chumbo:

I heard a story about how quickly this album was made. Someone asked Don, I guess facetiously, why it took so long. Beefheart said: "I had to learn to play the piano at the same time."
Avatar 3:58am Bill Mac:

Thank you for that tidbit too Guido. Doug was unceremoniously kicked out of the band years before and generally uncredited on any of the official CB releases until this guest appearance
Avatar 3:59am Bill Mac:

@Sem Great line. He was the quintessential snake oil salesman.
Avatar 4:06am Brian in UK:

Piggy Bank Love on the first Bonzoes album, Gorilla.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07am Guido from Cologne:

Magic band tonight in London.
Avatar 4:08am Brian in UK:

@ The Garage
Avatar 4:10am Bill Mac:

Speaking of missed ops, Bro JT was playing at John & Petes in New Hope (where Ween played many of their early gigs too I might add) this past evening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11am Guido from Cologne:

And I missed Chrome on wednesday.
False entry in my calendar! Bummer!
Not yet come over it.

And I'll miss Keili's Saturday debut because I must see Melt Banana tonight.
Well, archives ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11am Fran:

Morning all
A flying visit for an hour or so - my car exhaust is doing a very good impression of Carl Palmer and needs a new bracket which means a Saturday morning trip to the garage in rain and thunder.....nice!
Avatar 4:15am Bill Mac:

I can think of no more entertaining way to start my weekend off - do they at least have donuts and coffee?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16am Fran:

Wheelnuts and no coffee sadly Bill
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17am Guido from Cologne:

Wheelnuts ... *LOL*

Go for the Thai ... is it Molam or Lug Thung now?
  4:17am P-90:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18am Fran:

Wheelnuts to you too!!!!
Avatar 4:19am Bill Mac:

According to the liner notes - Molam
Avatar 4:19am Bill Mac:

This Cambodian Space Project is strangely badass...
  4:20am P-90:

That's best kind of badass, IMO
Avatar 4:21am Jay/London:

@ Fran best of luck with your car .. hope this weather breaks soon
Avatar 4:21am Looms:

Good morning!
Avatar 4:22am Brian in UK:

Hey FRan, got to get new tyres (tires) soon on mine. Deep joy.
Is this Rough Guido?
Avatar 4:22am Jay/London:

Does anyone know what they are singing about .. anyways sounds good
Avatar 4:22am Bill Mac:

Looms! Didja get the Arto disk?
Avatar 4:23am Brian in UK:

Hoping for some swag to manifest itself soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24am Fran:

It is strangely badass....mind you I went to a concert earlier in the week which included extended jams between spanish guitar, electric oud and a group of Pakistani Qwawwali musicians which really was the baddest of ass - amazing stuff!
Avatar 4:24am Looms:

Avatar 4:24am Bill Mac:

It must be about that time..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24am Fran:

Thanks Jay - just the mounting thankfully and not the whole thing!
Avatar 4:25am Bill Mac:

@Fran Who was that you saw?
Avatar 4:26am Brian in UK:

Just amiable rain here right now, promise of torrential later.
Avatar 4:27am Bill Mac:

We had torrents Wednesday...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28am Fran:

Bill - it was Victor Hererro who plays with Josephine Foster, with the Family Elan and a local group called Quawwal - all for free in a small gallery in Bradford near Leeds.
Avatar 4:31am Bill Mac:

Fran - Free AND good is the best
  4:31am P-90:

Bradford! My ancestors came from there (the ones that weren't Italian)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31am Fran:

Its been a good gigging week - also Sun Araw with Laraaji last night and David Grubbs/Tara Jane O'Neil tomorrow and Grubbs is another free one!!
Avatar 4:32am Brian in UK:

Fran, electric oud, like amplifying a lute.

Josephine Foster supported Tom Brosseau recently but not at the London show. I was hoping to see her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32am Fran:

I like Josephine Foster a lot but her voice is a bit operatic for some
Avatar 4:34am Brian in UK:

Let's all go to Atlantis. Right weather for it.
  4:35am KP:

The Land of Was Not Was?
Avatar 4:36am Sem Chumbo:

@KP: hahaha, first thing in the morning:0
Avatar 4:36am Bill Mac:

@KP - The drugs have taken effect
Avatar 4:37am Sem Chumbo:

Speaking of drugs and their effects...
Avatar 4:37am Brian in UK:

@KP The Don who is the third?
  4:37am P-90:

Donovan and Syd. One learned to meditate, the other didn't.
  4:38am KP:

And now Gigolo Aunt? Not Ant?
Avatar 4:38am Brian in UK:

@P-90 Roger Waters never learnt to mediate.
Avatar 4:39am Bill Mac:

Careful KP I'll play Walking the Dinosaur
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41am Fran:

Talking of meditation - Laraaji is holding a laughter meditation class in Manchester today - in this weather he may need to change it to meditation with sarcastic chuckles!
  4:41am KP:

Don't do that
  4:41am P-90:

"Walk the Dinosaur"?
  4:43am KP:

So ... the CIA is following me, which is not news, and I'm following them, which is.
Avatar 4:44am Brian in UK:

I remember Arthur Lee doing a Radio London acoustic set on Richard Skinner's show circa '92 and Nick was playing guitar with him.
Avatar 4:46am Jay/London:

@ KP the C I A follow themselfs around as they never know who are who !
Avatar 4:46am Brian in UK:

Arthur played The Garage (Magic Band) later that day and was accompanied by Michael Head of Shack/Pale Fountains.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47am Guido from Cologne:

This sounds like MES in Central Africa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47am Fran:

And MI6 follow them all on Twitter and Facebook
Avatar 4:47am Bill Mac:

Saw Nick do an acoustic show with Adrian Shaw (who played with Hawkwind among others. 15 years ago or so
Avatar 4:47am Jay/London:

and don't forget MI5
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48am Fran:

Is this the Von Sudenfeld aand Mark E Smith thing Bill?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49am Fran:

Jay its now MI4 due to austerity
Avatar 4:50am Brian in UK:

Avatar 4:54am Bill Mac:

Avatar 4:54am Jay/London:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55am Fran:

Apparently Jay a community group 'The Friends of Napoleon Solo and Ilya Kuryakin - Shepton Mallet branch' have offered to do spying as a Big Society project - open Channel D..........watch this space
Avatar 4:55am Brian in UK:

Bill, was the Record Fair really held in an aircraft sized hanger?

Ian Hunter 75 last week. Jeez.
Avatar 4:56am Sem Chumbo:

All the Young Dudes, man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56am Fran:

Ian Hunter - long may he rock on!
Avatar 4:57am Bill Mac:

Ian 75 - wow.... still working too
Yeah the room was huge in a aircraft sort of way, and I heard it got warm as the day went on
Avatar 4:57am Jay/London:

@ Fran think the only spying is now springwatch they seem to have cams everywhere
Avatar 4:58am Brian in UK:

I can still remember seeing the first Mott (Escher) album cover. Hours of fun!!
  4:59am KP:

The record fair was indeed held in a huge armory, complete with soldiers taking weapons out from lockers that lined the room and checking them out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59am Fran:

Watch out for that BBC lot - Masterchef is coded superspy stuff - Buttery Biscuit Base - forward base etc....beware
  5:00am P-90:

...Suzy Quatro turned 64 last week
  5:00am KP:

One guy - in uniform of course - helped set up, he ran with the hand truck, making us all look bad
  5:02am KP:

"Our age?"
  5:02am P-90:

KP, if you were in active service and stationed on Lexington Avenue, you'd have a spring in your step too
Avatar 5:03am Brian in UK:

@KP I can feel Suzi's pain.
Avatar 5:04am Brian in UK:

Never wore the leather kecks though.
Avatar 5:06am Jay/London:

sky gone black, thunder very loud having to turn the show way up !!!
  5:06am KP:

It was the National Guard, weekend warriors. My father was in it. He didn't know which end of a rifle was up
  5:07am P-90:

KP: one weekend a month, right?
Avatar 5:08am Jay/London:

@ KP so did he shoot himself in the foot ?
Avatar 5:08am Bill Mac:

I got yr soundtrack for a thunderstorm right here!
  5:08am KP:

Now this is good, esp with my radio
Avatar 5:10am Jay/London:

Indeed Bill great start to my time off work
  5:12am KP:

This song goes back to my new twitter friends
  5:13am KP:

My father couldn't hit anything with a rifle. He drove a truck
Avatar 5:15am Sem Chumbo:

So the broad side of a barn was within his abilities, no doubt.
  5:16am KP:

Ok now the radio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18am Guido from Cologne:

King Crimson @ their darkest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18am Fran:

The mighty Crimson who you seem to be getting in September in the US with no sign of UK dates - I'll swop you for the Magic Band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19am Fran:

My exhaust part has arrived I'm told but they can't fit it until after 11 so I can listen to the end.....
Avatar 5:19am Bill Mac:

I don't know - they're actually playing the premier concert venue in Philly - the orchestra plays there.
Avatar 5:21am Sem Chumbo:

Off to sell hooch at the Farmers' Market. Thanks, Bill, for all the spins and good talk. Next time!
Avatar 5:22am Bill Mac:

Thanks Sem see you soon!
  5:23am P-90:

Ciao, Chumbo!
Avatar 5:25am Brian in UK:

Starless & Bible Black, opening line from Dylan Thomas' 'Under Milk Wood'. Like Sun Ra, born 100 years ago come 27th October. The folk singer from Hibbing took his name. A wonderful writer who dazzled with words.
Avatar 5:33am Brian in UK:

Was he related to the guitarist in Thunderclap Newman. Jimmy MacCullough? Or am I making that up.
  5:34am P-90:

Crimson at Radio City here in New York
  5:36am P-90:

CORRECTION: it'll be 3 nights at Best Buy Center in Times Square, my bad
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37am Fran:

What an awful name for a venue - Best Buy Center!!! Don't you just hate corporate sponsors......
Avatar 5:39am Bill Mac:

My thoughts exactly
Avatar 5:41am Brian in UK:

Great mix today, Bill. What am I writng, always great. You know I was thinking back to that 1968 show you did a while back and how much that year influenced me.

I love WFMU Nice 'n Tasty Comestibles. Product placement. Never.

Listen @ Bill's Aural Diner for all your listening pleasure. (apologies to Firesign Theatre)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45am Fran:

Brian - ITV4 awaits your creative input.....
Avatar 5:45am Bill Mac:

1968 - I'd only been listening to rock music for about a year by then.
Avatar 5:47am Looms:

My parents weren't even married in 1968...
Avatar 5:47am Andy in Berlin:

@ Bill you must be quite the youngster :)
Avatar 5:48am Bill Mac:
