Avatar 3:08pm Van in DC:

I saw the live Laura on ustream yestday - great stuff!
Avatar 3:08pm northguineahills:

Didn't know the Caretaker guise around back in '99. Thought he was still just V/VM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Yes! YES YES YES! So glad you did this.
Avatar 3:09pm Van in DC:

Me too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm steve:

i love this recording
Avatar 3:09pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

New job this year, nearly done selling the house... therefore I WILL make it to the record fair next year. Saving commences immediately. It will get ugly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Scott Williams:

Couldn't not do it, Greg! God... the sound in that place!!
Avatar 3:09pm Billy Jam:

thanks for playing this Scott
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Scott Williams:

Dan Melchior likewise sounded amazing in that hall
Avatar 3:10pm Cheri Pi:

wow, this field recording of her show is ethereal and sublime
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Scott Williams:

twas chills, yalls
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Mike East:

ahh, cavernous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm DCE:

is this what it sounds like when you meet your god/dess?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Greg from Bloomfield:

And the intermittent Wheel Of Fate is the icing on the cake.
Avatar 3:13pm the glowing one:

that reverb reminds me of KLF's Chill Out album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Matt ww:

Scott. That was wonderful.
  3:14pm OTB:

Was having Beer Table flashbacks there for a few minutes....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Studio B Ben:

In heaven, everything is fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm DCE:

lift off imminent
Avatar 3:18pm Cecile:

Hi, all!

I took a walk today and found 1) a bakery I hadn't been to yet, and 2) a heavy metal record store!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm steve:

a few days ago i found the bootleg VHS of Eraserhead long ago bequeathed to me by my freshman college next door neighbor. probably the only VHS i'll never get rid of...
  3:19pm Andrew Fetter:

Some excellent stuff to wake up to this afternoon. A nice trade off for having to work nights.
Avatar 3:20pm Cecile:

Andrew, working overnights was both the coolest thing and the worst thing when I did it for a couple of years.
Avatar 3:23pm the glowing one:

Most of the coolest things in life are also the worst.
Avatar 3:23pm northguineahills:

Wow, I remember these series of comps. Didn't get this one, though.
Avatar 3:24pm Cecile:

tis true!
  3:24pm Andrew Fetter:

I hear ya, Cecile . It's nice because I actually see my family more than when I worked 2nd. But the toll it takes on the body and mind gets to you.
Avatar 3:25pm Cecile:

yeah, it took about 3 years before I could get to sleep before midnight.
Avatar 3:26pm Van in DC:

Nice set! Gotta run, bye bye, and thanks Scott
Avatar 3:28pm Cheri Pi:

Cecile-that's the best walkies' news ever!
Avatar 3:29pm Cecile:

Isn't it? I got the new Voivod and Agalloch discs, a Discharge comp, and classics by Accept and Trouble. I M very happy!
Avatar 3:30pm Cecile:

bakery was way too crowded.
Record store was cool - it was spotlessly clean, and each band's logo was meticulously hand-drawn on the name cards.
Avatar 3:31pm Cecile:

It even had comfy chairs.
Avatar 3:33pm Cheri Pi:

WOW! I'm so jealous and happy for you. that attention to detail is the kind of value only metal-record-shops can offer. were they suprised to see you? Do they know who you are???
Avatar 3:34pm the glowing one:

hand-drawn band logos... like in high school
Avatar 3:35pm Cheri Pi:

*How was their Chastain section? Enough copies to tile a medium sized bathroom?
Avatar 3:35pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

My god. The next stage in human evolution is to COMBINE good bakery with heavy metal record store. IMAGINE.....
Avatar 3:36pm Cecile:

no, they don't know who I am. hahahhaha
They don't have a Chastain section. But then again, it's the second location of a store in Dublin, Ireland. Their Primordial section was great, and their Manilla Road section was, no lie, about a foot long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm efd:

Barcelona dreamin', on such a summer's day...
Avatar 3:37pm Cecile:

Rev, it has to happen. You have to make it happen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Scott Williams:

haha, EFD I thought you said "bummer's day"
Avatar 3:39pm Cheri Pi:

¡Ay, caramba! You must go back and suss it out after you've had baked-goods. take a few rhubarb struesels back and plop them around to make your case.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm efd:

that also works!
Avatar 3:40pm Cheri Pi:

*foot note, we have a local band called "Bummer's Eve"
Avatar 3:40pm Cheri Pi:

On black doilies of course.
Avatar 3:41pm Cecile:

Remember, my joke about Pantera Bread:
Far Beyond Risen. With the Crullers from Hell.
Avatar 3:41pm Cecile:

Oh yeah! I got a plain black plastic bag from the store. hahahhahhaa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Chop Scott:

Scott! EFD! Indeed, missing the Primavera trip.
Avatar 3:42pm northguineahills:

This Craig Leon is getting a lot of WFMU play this last week. Cool!

oh god, Cecile, that made me laugh and groan! :)
Avatar 3:42pm βrian:

The other day I had the best rhubarb pie of my life. Bliss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Scott Williams:

Chop Scott! Huge relief having you on the crew this weekend.
Avatar 3:43pm Cecile:

its' a joke that has had a long life.

I almost bought rhubarb, Brian, but I didn't have enough cash for that and perfect fresh local chinese broccoli.
Avatar 3:43pm Cheri Pi:

YES- the prohets have spoken & so shall it be. as it was written in the The Stand-mixers of Solomon,
Avatar 3:44pm Yair Yona:

Good evening everyone :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm common:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Scott Williams:

Avatar 3:47pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 3:47pm northguineahills:

Just saw Trans Am a few weeks ago. Still a lot of fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Carmichael:

Happy belated birthday, Cecile! And Hiya Scott and others.
Avatar 3:48pm Cecile:

thanks, Carm!
Avatar 3:49pm Cecile:

bang the bread that doesn't bang.
Avatar 3:52pm northguineahills:

What about Matthew Valentine & Erika Elders band, MV/EE & the Bummer Road?
Avatar 3:54pm Cecile:

how is Ms. Melchior doing these days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Mike East:

I liked the pie stand at the record fair. I'm into savory pies. Beers were good, too, though I didn't really like the smuttynose ipa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Carmichael:

@Cecile: my daughters went their separate ways this weekend. Without us! A reverse birthday gift!
Avatar 3:56pm Cheri Pi:

Letha posted a new blog a few days ago: lethashappyhospitalfuntime.blogspot.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Carmichael:

Is that the actual beer name, Mike?
Avatar 3:56pm Cecile:

nice, carm. hahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Bas NL:

*hanging head* I'll make it to the Record Fair one day.. sniff..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Mike East:

Yeah, I think so, Carm
Avatar 3:58pm Cecile:

wow, she's hanging in there, but she's having a rough go of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Mike East:

I prefered the brooklyn Brown ale. Only reason I didn't get that for my first beer is that I've had it before and I'm always looking to try new things.
Avatar 3:59pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I need to hunt around for that footage of Clay Pigeon pouncing on innocent record-fair folk. I hope/assume it's out there somewhere (?)
  3:59pm r i s k y:

Hey all you cool cats!
Avatar 4:00pm Cecile:

aw, nah, I loved Nat Roe going into Stashu's show. :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm steve:

Armory ruled. let us never speak of that other place again. i was only there for about an hour early Saturday due to work madness but got two things i've been dreaming of for years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm steve:

also there was this one dealer who blew my mind by having two crates of rare noise and avante garde music, two crates of super rare italo disco i'll probably never see again, and half a crate of The Incredible String Band. shoulda gotten his info...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Scott Williams:

wow Steve, where was he? do you remember?
Avatar 4:08pm northguineahills:

I used to hate early digital sampled works (not all) because of the datedness of the sound, now I really dig the sound for some reason. (good thing I hold on to my recs for years before thinking of selling them).
  4:09pm r i s k y:

This is like a wacky crazy song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm steve:

he was in the very furthest back left corner spot from the entrance. shaved head with a beard. said he lived in Queens. i sincerely wish id gotten his info.
  4:14pm r i s k y:

@Steve yeah! I got most of my things from him! He had some Brainbombs too, I think he was friends with Brian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm steve:

oh man i gotta run, but... he was in E8 which says Turner and the description "experimental / postpunk / World / rock and more" does sound like Brian??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm Scott Williams:

Ohhh, was he right next to Brian? I did see him - nice guy too. "Turner" is Brian
Avatar 4:16pm Cecile:

Knead before Zod.
  4:18pm r i s k y:

That Thai? track would probably sound the same backwards. (Just a thought lol)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Mike East:

speaking of zod, I watched Man of Steel last night. sooo long. why is every goddamn movie required to be over 2 hours these days?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm efd:

Brian was sharing his table, so maybe this was the sharee...?
  4:23pm steve:

Ok yeah, he was definitely in Brian's spot on Saturday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Scott Williams:

Cool - @steve, I'll hit you via email...
  4:28pm Nat:

Hi Scott, enjoying the show at work.

  4:31pm steve:

  4:37pm Marc:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Mike East:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Scott Williams:

It was my great pleasure, Marc, and one I got to enjoy repeatedly this weekend.
Avatar 4:44pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

HOLY CRAP i think i know this war dance. I'm back at the roller disco! Flash-backy!
Avatar 4:46pm Cecile:

this song did not work its way to us.
Avatar 4:47pm Cecile:

too bad
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm efd:

I have a Gino Soccio LP from the early '80s, I think. I don't remember it sounding as good as this (or the Bolero version).
Avatar 4:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...and to think that middle bit predates acid house by, what, 8 years or so?
Avatar 4:51pm Cecile:

exactly, Rev.
  4:52pm Andrew Fetter:

Man, all these post record fair shows makes me really want to try to save up to make the trip to attend it sometime soon.
  4:54pm Marc:

I'm glad. Again, I really appreciated it.
Avatar 4:57pm northguineahills:

This Bill Frissell track was originally supposed to be the theme song for Gary Larson's animated show. It never happened.
Avatar 4:59pm northguineahills:

Does anyone know what Curtis Folkes is up to these days? (the trombonist on this Frissell track)
  5:01pm ted:

man, have not heard this Frisell in years...thanks, so good.
Avatar 5:08pm PKNY:

Rick Springfield is straight up crushing on this.
Avatar 5:09pm Chris M.:

man this is a huge effing improvement over the orig
Avatar 5:10pm Droll:

[struggling to accept Rick Springfield playing on a wicked progified Beatles cover]
  5:11pm Lulu:

awesome cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Greg from Bloomfield:

When I was little I used to think they were saying "All the LOVELY people."
Avatar 5:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This clergy endorses that clergy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Scott Williams:

And they got a Rev too, Rev. Rev Freddie
Avatar 5:23pm northguineahills:

Gotta jump. Thanks for the skull-popping sounds, Scott!
