That is correct!

One of the coolest things about the Record Fair are the DJ finds that proptly get showcased on air

@P-90: Therese was in the Star Trek universe [or an extremely similar universe] on the cover of her premium a couple of years ago.

It was probably an extremely similar universe. Settle down, Paramount lawyers.

Hi Matt from Springfield!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/2/14 12:35am BadGuyZero:

I searched the interwebs for info on Playtex Records. Looks like the label was based out of the Philippines. The only other release I could find was a cover of "To Sir With Love" by someone named Linda Alcid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/2/14 12:36am bobdoesthings:

the Armory was definitely a huge improvement.. this was only my second time at a wfmu record fair.. but the last place was sort of a drag with how crowded it was.. The armory sort of made it seem smaller in relation to the tighter space though.. but definitely nicer to have some breathing room.

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/2/14 1:07am BadGuyZero:

When I worked at Borders people would come in asking about songs they heard on the radio or in a commercial. The conversation usually started like this:
CUSTOMER: Do you have that song from the radio/television/etc.?
ME: What does it sound like?
CUSTOMER: <aghast> I'm not going to sing it. </aghast>

I think that Dolly Parton track is the most exuberant song I've ever heard on this station.

@P-90: And a composer too! Writer of "Jolene", "Coat of Many Colors", "I Will Always Love You"...and check out one of her sad ballads called "Down from Dover"--GREAT stuff, Joe McG put that on his Southern Gothic comp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/2/14 1:17am BadGuyZero:

This song makes me think of when Sam bought a Parisian night suit on "Freaks & Geeks."
  Mon. 6/2/14 1:19am P-90:

I've heard "Down from Dover", it"s very original and very good, well-crafted by a real pro composer, you're right
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 6/2/14 1:19am coelacanth:

I dont care much for much of Dolly's music, but she seems like a very special human being,in several ways...And ,after hearing the original "i will always Love you",i never-EVER want to hear the showbiz-y Whitney Houston version again.

...I never knew who she wrote that song for,but it's clear by listening that she wrote it as she felt it,and felt it as she sung it. Whitney simply had an excellent instrument, and simply performed it.
