Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12am Matt from Springfield:

Hi PSS, and the rest of you Scenarians!
Avatar 12:12am bpd:

good evening all. Ned's trips every nostalgia cell I have.
  12:12am P-90:

Uh yeah, Hi all. that was me...
I was in costume as DJ Pseu's cat.
There was a "farewell for now" party, you may have heard...
Thought I'd gotten the mask off
  12:13am P-90:

Und Velcome @ pss in der Lefft Koast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Matt from Springfield:

Didn't notice that your cat mask was still on? Just what kind of party was that??! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Amanda:

Glad that even Mr. Chang is into this dog-specific picture...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am pacific standard simon:

Left toast where? Breadcrumb trail?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: Left Coast, literally that would be die Linkskuste (which makes me think of a links cast, or sausage mold... :)
  12:14am P-90:

It was an all star bash, lot's of A-list celebs, BIG Sendoff
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am Matt from Springfield:

There she goes! There she (blows)!
One of the 5 good albums of 1990, that I counted recently...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am pacific standard simon:

Hmm, I have Nuggets AND Children Of... Never thought of putting them both on random play.
  12:18am P-90:

@ Matt thanks for "Linkskuste' (it would be one word, wouldn't it?)
--but er, "Lefft Koast" vas zupposed to be "ein Tinylarffe"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am coelacanth:

Hi Amanda,Hi All. I wont be hangin' around the comments much, but Thank you for a great show.(as of course it will be!)
-Yes,great picture!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: Don't worry, just playing along knowing that we could all use ein bisschen ha-ha manchmal.. :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am coelacanth:

Olá P-90, Matt (fS)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am Matt from Springfield:

Hola y adios, coelacanth!

Wow, old school "Leanin' On A Lamppost" long before Peter Noone.
  12:24am P-90:

DJ Amanda's not fooling around, she's kicking off with a can't-lose, foolproof, feelgood set.
@ Matt; I believe "saugage mold" is "die linkskrust"
  12:24am The Brooklyn Kid:

Hello Amanda! I'm Phillip in Brooklyn this is the first I've listened to your show
  12:25am P-90:

..."Leaning" was a surprise. Very nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am Amanda:

Thanks for the listen, Phillip! And a hearty welcome to all of you kind people.

Words to live by
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am Matt from Springfield:

Happy to be here Amanda!
  12:30am P-90:

There's a record fair?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am Matt from Springfield:

"International Cassettes of Mystery"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am Matt from Springfield:

SNTR--Sixpence None The Richer, actually they were a Christian band. Unaware of the heroin implications of "there she blows", they said in an interview they covered it because it was just a great song.
  12:36am P-90:

SNTR = a Christian band??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am Matt from Springfield:

THE Essex, not just any ol' Essex here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: "Sixpence None the Richer (also known as Sixpence) is an American Christian rock/pop band that formed in New Braunfels, Texas, eventually settling in Nashville, Tennessee. They are best known for their songs "Kiss Me" and "Breathe Your Name" and their covers of "Don't Dream It's Over" and "There She Goes". The name of the band is inspired by a passage from the book Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis." I heard that before, I guess it's true! I had learned about the C.S. reference years earlier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am pacific standard simon:

Now this is what I call music...

"Barry, Barry White"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am Matt from Springfield:

OMG YES! Speaking of Christian singers... :D
I learned this from Joe McG! Remember that even when people get home from church, they still take off their pants...! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am Matt from Springfield:

@PSS: *deep* HELL YEAH, Simon...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am pacific standard simon:

AND the best Batman cover!
  12:45am P-90:

Faskinating, i'd just heard the few singles of theirs that were hits.
The things one can learn on these here boards.

"Yo, Adrian, it's like a freakin' College of Musical Knowledge or somethin' in here. *sniff*"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Matt from Springfield:

What you and I and everyone has learned from the comment boards!
That's the next feature: an RSS feed that sends out recently posted comments sorted by topic...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49am pacific standard simon:

I've been known to cull my FMU comments for choice Tumblr posts.
  12:49am P-90:

@ pss: no shite?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am pacific standard simon:

Anyone else think Todd Rundgren made a perfectly acceptable Ric Ocasek replicant?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am pacific standard simon:

Shameless, p-90.
Avatar 12:53am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Topics? What topics?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am Matt from Springfield:

I'm mainly into Todd's 70s solo/Utopia stuff, but I believe he could perform the Cars songs quite well.
  12:54am P-90:

Y'now I heard about the Todd/Cars gig but never saw them, actually I'd forgotten about that.
Is there live sounds/video of any of that available? Now I'm curious, like I was when they announced that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Matt from Springfield:

@Kenzo: I would think user-created tags or else noun based keywords.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am Amanda:

Hi Kenzo!!!! Long time!
Avatar 12:56am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

How about a filter that only shows comments that adhere to a particular topic?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am Matt from Springfield:

"Tin Lizzy" from Ireland!
Avatar 12:57am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Hi Amanda! How's the laptop line-in going?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57am pacific standard simon:

Kenzo! I bet it's YOU holding up my marathon premium package!
  12:58am P-90:

@ Kenzo what's up? Funny, I thought of you when Matt mentioned a Comments RSS feed. --Aren't you one of the proponents of a food/restaurants /recipes alternate comments board?
Avatar 12:58am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

uh er um. wait what do you mean? My premium has been ready for like two weeks already.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am Matt from Springfield:

@Kenzo: Yeah it would be like a filter, first 1) adhering to ANY topic, and 2) sorted by a recognizable topic. That's my half-drunken vision.
Avatar 12:58am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Yes, I only want a food filter for the boards, that's right.
Avatar 12:59am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

P.S., pss: My premium is 50 hours long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am Matt from Springfield:

Speaking of premiums...@Amanda I hope your fanzine's done! I ordered one and excitedly await its arrival!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am pacific standard simon:

@p-90 - The New Cars actually put out a decent music video of "Not Tonight". Also. I think there's a chat show performance floating around on youtube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am Matt from Springfield:

Serendipitous! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am pacific standard simon:

But it's old, and its skin is cold. Ride the snake...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am pacific standard simon:

Mus' be sum other, mo' slackerish DJ. My apologies, Ken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am pacific standard simon:

Me and North Carolina Holly would totally rule a food-filtered comment board.
  1:09am coalhard:

Amanda is fantastic !!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am pacific standard simon:

Songs like this fill me with nostalgia for the FM radio of 1971.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am Matt from Springfield:

Hey coalhard!
  1:11am coalhard:

Hi Matt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am Amanda:

Thanks for the troubleshooting tips, Kenzo! I am pretty sure I won't be able to figure it out but it's OK.
  1:15am P-90:

@ pss: Yes! Where were you listening then? I remember WOR and WNEW in New York, and KMET and KLOS in LA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am Amanda:

Why thank you coalhard... (blush)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am pacific standard simon:

KSAN, and some other station I can't remember the letters of, in San Francisco.
  1:18am P-90:

Hi @ coalhard, welcome aboard this crazy train.
----and you're right about DJ Amanda
  1:18am coalhard:

you guys have to see this video of new elon musk spaceship watch later--- http://www.space.com/26061-spacex-dragon-v2-manned-spacecraft-first-look-video.html
  1:18am Richard from Venezuela:

Hello Amanda and all the listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19am Matt from Springfield:

Buenos noches, Richard!

@coalhard: With progress on that spaceship, we may live to eat Mars bars..actually from Mars!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am Ken From Hyde Park:

Amanda, thanks for providing tunes while I wash dishes and straighten up the kitchen at this late hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am fleep:

Indeed, many dishes were done tonight, while rocking out to the tunes of Amanda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am Amanda:

I'm glad to entertain anyone who's being so diligent at 1:30 AM Friday night, Ken FHP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22am pacific standard simon:

But we'll never be able to get enough fryer fat up to Mars for deep-fried Mars bars on Mars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22am Amanda:

The dishes are DONE, man.
  1:23am P-90:

Aquatic hailing frequencies open, @ Herr fleepmeister!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am Ken From Hyde Park:

Got to do something to pass time while the clothes are in the washing machine. I don't want a stale, wrinkly mess come morning.
  1:25am P-90:

@ pss: the fryer fat will be synthesized from locally-sourced Martian materials
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am Matt from Springfield:

Plus I believe fat will fry at -30°C on the surface of Mars, so no extra heater necessary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am pacific standard simon:

Don't blow my mind just yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am Matt from Springfield:

"Manhattan Woman", much like..."The Girl from Greenwich Village"! So many songs of the 60s written about you!
  1:29am P-90:

Can Martian deep-fried Twinkies, ice cream bars, and corn dogs be far behind?
Avatar 1:29am Pseu Braun:

Amanda, this Tin Tin is perfect!Lovely sets...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31am fleep:

@KFHP A show this poppy and peppy is one to dupe off the archive, for future heimarbeit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, didn't know Neil D. performed an auto-bio like this.
  1:33am P-90:

@ fleep: yes , she's spinning an EMINENTLY archive-worthy set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am fleep:

@Matt And no one heard at all, not even the chair.
  1:34am P-90:

Long time since I heard Neil D. on FMU
  1:35am P-90:

even my guppy shed a tear
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am pacific standard simon:

When Neil sang on hot August nights, there was nary a dry seat in the house...
  1:36am P-90:

pss: eeew
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am Matt from Springfield:

"Even the fishbowls, had a drop more of salty water in them after hearing Neil Diamond..."
  1:38am coalhard:

There are so many artists we are living in fantastic age
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42am Amanda:

Aw, thanks for nice compliments Pseu! And everyone, hope the Neil Diamond schmaltz was not too schmaltzy for this Brooklyn crowd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43am fleep:

Mars needs schmaltz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43am Matt from Springfield:

Neil Diamond IS the Brooklyn crowd! What he says, goes! ;)
  1:43am coalhard:

all our ancestors made this possible--let's toast them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am Matt from Springfield:

Cheers, great-great-great-ad-infinitum gramps and grams! *clink o' whiskey*
  1:45am P-90:

Yes, let us toast our ancestors
or better yet, deep-fry them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am Matt from Springfield:

@Amanda: That's charming, to walk from your apartment to school through the middle of NYC...just like the Sesame Street film inserts with the groovy Joe Raposo music that the rest of us oversheltered 'burban kids watched in our formative years!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: I'll get out the George Foreman..
  1:51am P-90:

Where have you gone Joe Raposo
A nation turns its lonely ears to you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am Amanda:

The George Formby grill would be something completely different I think
  1:53am P-90:

  1:53am coalhard:

newest invention is the sling mop--have you seen this?--and doesn't kill cats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am Matt from Springfield:

Ha, music hall bangers 'n mash!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55am Matt from Springfield:

Yes P-90, indeed (RIP Joe R...AR'd)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01am Matt from Springfield:

Good ol' Superchunk.
  2:09am coalhard:

We humans are evolving at accelerated rate thanks to WFMU
  2:13am P-90:

Brenda Lee kicks ass!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17am Matt from Springfield:

Don't worry, you will attend a Wolf Party, one day. One day...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20am Matt from Springfield:

Hmmm, that's one of many words we use the opposite way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20am Joe D.:

another word that people misuse similarly is "ambivalent"
  2:21am P-90:

Good point @ DJ Amanda. "peruse" has come to be used commonly as a synonym for "browse"
  2:21am coalhard:

The fact that humans without legs running races blows my mind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21am Ken From Hyde Park:

How about "sporadic"?
  2:24am P-90:

@ Ken No thanks, I just ate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33am Matt from Springfield:

Yay! Simpsons Time! :)
And yay! "Homemade" Lenny & Karl intro! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34am Brian in UK:

Hello Amanda, from almost sunny UK.

Hi Matt, long time no 'see'. Got to get dog walking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35am Matt from Springfield:

Howdy Brian of the rising sun! Always glad to "see" you.
Enjoy the dog walk!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36am Ken From Hyde Park:

I like the part at the end of that bongo scene where he literally burns the bridge behind him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37am Matt from Springfield:

I remember that visual reference from years ago! (NOW I get it!...)
Avatar 2:37am George:

I couldn't be happier to tune into fmu and have someone describe a Simpsons episode to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37am Joe D.:

Homer, have you been shining your head in the Ball-O-Shine-O?

..... No.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38am Matt from Springfield:

"Awww! There's always a canal!"
"Or an INLET!" :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38am Joe D.:

  2:39am coalhard:

We love you Amanda--good sense of humor--fantastic funny
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39am Matt from Springfield:

"...let's watch that new show about the cop who fights crime in his spare time"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41am Matt from Springfield:

  2:42am coalhard:

yea matt will watch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am Matt from Springfield:

When writing my "bachelor's thesis"/senior project on nuclear power, I actually confirmed (contrary to that Simpsons scene), that acid rain is *not*, in fact, generated by nuclear power -- it is most likely to come from the sulfur in coal processing.
  2:43am coalhard:

starts on Monday I think
  2:46am coalhard:

yes coal is bad
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48am Matt from Springfield:

@coalhard: Yes, if only every cop fought crime like that...
And yes, coalhard notwithstanding, coal has given us some problems over the years. If we could only use carbon without hurting the world with it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49am Amanda:

@Joe D, IF ONLY I were nimble enough to put your gif on the playlist now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am Ken From Hyde Park:

Dishes done. Now, to treat myself to some tasty ice cream. Leading to more dirty dishes. The cycle continues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am Matt from Springfield:

Another classic communicated via Amanda's Dad! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am Matt from Springfield:
