Swag For Life Member 9:17pm 12539:

It's a sad day when I'm forced to say something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm efd:

still, I'm glad you did.
  9:20pm Lonely Planet Boy:

this is some bass playin'!
Avatar 9:21pm TroubleInMind:

oh yeah man KJG got it GOIN ON
Avatar 9:22pm TroubleInMind:

KJG into Buzzcocks works surprisingly well...
  9:22pm Alex of Chicago:

Well, it's warm here finally. So I'm sitting outside with dog, but still listening. Love Wed nights.
Swag For Life Member 9:25pm 12539:

(I never get tired of this theme song)
Avatar 9:26pm cameron_michael:

"I'm a Friend of Tom too" forever.
Avatar 9:30pm Droll:

12539, Thanks for not making me un-lurk, too. Got ya next time.

I am typing this message.

Definitely not a dumb record!

Hello efd. What? No ivory Tower of Knowledge?
Avatar 9:34pm Loretta:

good evening everyone & Evan....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm efd:

Hi Loretta, and Holly, cameron, P-90, 12539, Ken FHP, Droll, Lonely Planet Boy, TiM, and everyone else! Thanks for stopping by and checking in!
Avatar 9:40pm Callieflower:

Hii, everyone. Hii, Evan
Avatar 9:41pm Loretta:

great track for practicing Yoga.
Avatar 9:41pm Holly in NC:

Missed the new Atmosphere, anyone have any thoughts?
I was just looking at my Napster-era God Loves Ugly, Lucy Ford etc. files and laughing at the mess & low bit rates. Remember s-l-o-w-l-y dling 1 song at a time? And being superlatively excited & thankful?
Avatar 9:43pm Holly in NC:

Great track for chugging ice water and contemplating feeding the cats :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm fleep:

A hit with rats everywhere.
Avatar 9:44pm Droll:

Holly, I *DO* remember! It was easier to go buy a CD, and most folks did.
  9:46pm Carmichael:

Dude, you really played Pied Piper?? :)
  9:47pm Lonely Planet Boy:

wish people would buy CDs. i could go back into business.
Avatar 9:48pm Droll:

LPB, Me too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm efd:

I really did, Carmichael!
Avatar 9:51pm Holly in NC:

@Droll I need to start start uploading my many, many, MANY cds before they disintegrate. Have been pretty lucky so far but thinking the first generation 80s-era discs must be on the way out. Most of my CDr are already failing. Sucks.
  9:55pm d.francis:

A friend just picked up What You Want Is In The Limo.
I'm psyched to read it.
Does the title refer to the Bowie song Fame?
(is this a stupid question?)

  9:56pm Lonely Planet Boy:

i dunno, Holly. 1st CD i ever bought was Pretenders' debut, made in West Germany(that's how old). still sounds as good as Rhino's remaster, which cost $24.
  9:58pm Carmichael:

I really did like it, Evan. Codgers unite <fist in the air>!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm fleep:

Avatar 10:00pm Holly in NC:

Speaking of Bowie, hearing some Bowie licks in this Coathangers song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm efd:

hey Daniel! Not a stupid question - I always assumed the title was taken from that song, even though the book is talking about events that happened a couple years before that song came out.
  10:03pm d.francis:

yeah, that was a tad confusing.
REALLY enjoyed that show.
nice job as always!
Avatar 10:03pm Droll:

. o O ( Some spiffy drum work by py py. Me likey the double-time into triplets. )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm efd:

d.f., I think the lyric suits the book well, and you could argue that it's the events described in the book that set up the culture of fame in many ways. Glad you enjoyed that show!
Avatar 10:09pm Holly in NC:

py py is simply great. One of my faves ytd
  10:09pm d.francis:

Yeah, that makes sense.
Hey, btw that loop you play is American Woman right?
My friend Lou says no.
I am right.right?
  10:10pm Jonny Gomes:

Yeah man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm efd:

you're half-right - the song is "Saturday Night Fever" by Lordz Of Brooklyn, but it includes a sample from American Woman!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm efd:

what up Johnny Gomes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm steve:

hey efd and friends.
  10:13pm Lonely Planet Boy:

but we call it Wednesday Night Fever
  10:13pm d.francis:

don't know the song.
have to give it a listen.
thanky Evan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm steve:

Avatar 10:24pm Holly in NC:

Gen Ken Montgomery is going to guest dj on Thomas's show this week?! How cool is that?! A = very :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Alex of Chicago:

Scharpling was right, again!
Avatar 10:33pm cameron_michael:

I always want to listen to Led Zeppelin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Stevel:

How Many More Times is one of the grooviest songs I loved from early on. The main riff is beyond words for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm efd:

I could listen to that riff on endless loop forever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm Stevel:

  10:37pm AWS from MP:

was never a HUGE zeppelin fan but just realized this might rank in my top 2 of theirs - thanks, Evan and overdue greetings from NW Bergen County
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

In the mid-80s, I had a cassette with a couple of Led Zep albums on it. I'd listen to it each morning while getting ready for work. In a few days, it'd reach the end and then I'd flip it over for the next few days of music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm efd:

Good to hear from you, AWS! Glad to put that song in your top 2.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Stevel:

I came in on Led Zeppelin tonight. Obviously, I need to see what led up to that. YEA, ARCHIVES!!
  10:46pm AWS from MP:

Not sure what the other One of Two would be - but you get the idea - and to Stevel, I came in on Aimee M & Ted L, so strap in ...
Avatar 10:46pm Holly in NC:

very much enjoying cherry glazerr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm Alex of Chicago:

Wow, a song about those scrappy Oakland A's.
Avatar 10:59pm cameron_michael:

Good stuff.
Avatar 11:13pm Danne D:

Oooh - Baseball Project is touring as well :)
Avatar 11:15pm Holly in NC:

Shirelles still my fave. Then again, I ADORE the Shirelles.
  11:16pm Pidge™:

A lesser DJ might balk at playing the Crispian card. The fact that you layed it right out there on the table speaks volumes, EFD.
Avatar 11:16pm Holly in NC:

Cass McConbs & Endless Boogie= a VERY odd bill.
Avatar 11:18pm coelacanth:

never heard the Shirelles' version, but i'd bet it's the best.

Man, I loved that Ex-Cult song and now I'm getting the awesome Joe Jackson.
  11:27pm herb.nyc:

Joe J, my 1st dr pepper c.park show!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Stevel:

Joe Jackson was/is so fucking good.
Avatar 11:29pm coelacanth:

wow haven't heard this in a while. 'Just thinking yesterday how JJ was considered "punk-rock" for a second! Our band used to play this, but the singer changed the lyrics a lot ( to offend.)
Avatar 11:30pm coelacanth:

...no. It was "happy loving couples" he got creative with.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm Stevel:

I would seek out a Trouble In Mind-fest. Just saying.
Avatar 11:33pm Danne D:

I hope EFD does this at Hoof N Mouth next year :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm schwaab:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm schwaab:

lloyd is channeling lou reed just a little
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The Lloyd Cole tune sounds like a Rolling Stones kind of song. The one that mentions roses on the grave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm Stevel:

Ken: Just had Dead Flowers on my mind as I let the dogs out. Guessing you hit it dead center.
Swag For Life Member 11:56pm 12539:

Thanks, Mr Funk!
Avatar 11:57pm Danne D:

Thanks for your usual excellence Evan :)
Have a great night everyone :)
