Hi Meghan, was actually looking forward to this special Friday night edition!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I could just feel the 80s with that Jim Carroll song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Meghan:

We are moving backwards in time......
Avatar 9:18pm nanantatee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Parq:

Miss Meghan! I had forgotten you were going to be here tonight. First set was great -- looking forward to fine, fine music to hear here at Chez Mr. and Mrs. Parq.
  9:21pm P-90:

WHAT? No theme?!
--Oh, No Theme IS the theme, OK
Avatar 9:22pm nanantatee:

Feels more post punkin to me... oh gee, whatever it is, it is quite enjoyable
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Meghan:

no theme is always a theme!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Remember, you're on the actual airwaves tonight, so no FCC-banned words.
  9:25pm Ruby:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Meghan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Meghan:

The joys of being after an all 45 show! I forget to change the speed! ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Ike:

Hooray for themelessness!
  9:32pm Jefff:

Oh yeah!
Avatar 9:33pm JakeGould:

Boy oh boy. Squeeze is reminding me of the late 1980s, high school & Friday nights.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Tome:

Hi Meghan , Hi Kiddles ,, nice surprise in the evening .. lovin' the tunes too !
  9:33pm P-90:

I wanna hear Meghan do the full tongue-twistin" legal ID! "...WFMU, WMFU (that's the suspicious sounding one), and alllll ovah duh wohld..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Meghan:

and to all the jerk offs in Rockland County
  9:35pm Jefff:

Hey that's me! I'm a jerkoff!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I don't make the rules. I just ensure compliance!
Avatar 9:38pm JakeGould:

  9:41pm P-90:

No, not "jerk offs" or "jerkoffs, it's "jerk-offs", w/hyphen. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Tome:

this is very nice indeed on a nice evening too !
Avatar 9:43pm Jeff:

Enjoying the underwater themeless park in this special surprise timeslot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Meghan:

Wait.... do you think Jonesy and X-Ray use a hyphen? That's to safe.... and grammatical....

Ohhh Special Surprise time slots......
Avatar 9:47pm Jeff:

Yeah, actually when Jones is saying it I hear "jerkoffs", no hyphen.
Avatar 9:47pm JakeGould:

This arcticle seems apt: Great Northern Jerk-Off www.vcnewsreview.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Meghan:

If you can spell a slur......
  9:48pm ?:

Way cool Meghan - loving it!
  9:50pm P-90:

"Psyche"-y-delic, Man!
Avatar 9:52pm Jeff:

Meghan: the special new studio tip is that CD2 (you know, the new slow player everyone loves to hate) is almost certainly the best sounding - so if you have some CD you know was beautifully recorded and mastered and can sound awesome, and want all your radio friends to enjoy every delicious bit of it, bite the bullet and reach for Commander Slow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Meghan:

Ha! I know why everyone hates it too! you never know if you have something paused fully!
  9:54pm P-90:

...and wipe the disk on your jeans first, for the Absolute Sound
  9:55pm Kati:

Go Meghan! You're rocking our pork dinner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm davex:

Hey, what time is it?
Avatar 9:56pm Jeff:

...and the red button on the console doesn't just always mean "start", it toggles between play and pause, because that's how they chose to have the controls work.

Because you can't have good without some bad to balance it. That's, like, the rules of the universe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Meghan:

how do you know I am wearing jeans........
  9:58pm ?:

you're not wearing jeans???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Meghan:

one should not assume..... it makes an ass out of U and ME! hehe
Avatar 9:59pm JakeGould:

Bullshit. Wipe CDs on your t-shirt.
  10:01pm P-90:

Yayyyyyyyy......! Legal ID: Priceless.
  10:04pm ?:

You need to be careful with CDs. According to the Internet, you should not use water. Use only a microfiber cloth. Wipe the CD from the inner hole outward in gentle strokes. The strokes should be linear, not circular. Hold the edges of the CD to avoid leaving fingerprints. It is often best to give the CD one or two beers before doing this.
  10:05pm P-90:

@ Jake: that's exactly why I wrote "jeans", because "wipe it off on your shirt" sounded like a slightly coarse suggestion to make to a lady
Avatar 10:05pm Murph 37:

Great show Meghan! Thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Folsom:

Two new saints just canonized, coincidence?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Cory:

i'm relying on red strip and southern comfort lime
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm maestroso:

Hi Meghan, great to hear you at night! Yes, you definitely sound more peppy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm Meghan:

Yay! more peppy!!! Thanks Murph 37
Avatar 10:07pm JakeGould:

@P-90: You know what I miss about CRT TVs? When I would get up and wipe my t-shirt on the tube to clean it. I work in I.T. now. Pro-tip.
  10:08pm leshwatt:

Tread the mere raw punk
  10:11pm P-90:

Ahhh, gone are the days....I wish I had a buck for every time I saw a dude (maybe even my Dad) wipe off a picture tube with his shirt.
Those CRT's were real dust magnets, remember, because of the static charge that would collect on the glass.
  10:11pm sara:

nice sounds, thanks
Avatar 10:15pm Jeff:

Nice blatty brass groove.
  10:16pm jefff:

  10:16pm P-90:

@ Jake: I was assuming that "wipe my t-shirt on the tube to clean it" meant cleaning the tube with the shirt, apologies if 'twas the other way 'round
  10:17pm leshwatt:

Yes killer show

Meghan you should sub evening slots more often

It would relieve my stress of getting up early to hear your show!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Meghan:

Your stress of waking up early?! What about mine! I have to make sure I am not totally exhausted on mic..... I'd love to not have to wake up at 4 am!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Folsom:

You can't do a Jonesy and move your time? Maybe we have to pledge more.
  10:22pm sara:

thank you for getting up early for us Meghan, hope you can change it if you want to too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Meghan:

hahaha! I bet if I said to Ken- I want a new time change and my listeners demand it, how much do I need to raise for this to happen.... I wonder if that would work?!
  10:23pm P-90:

@ DJ Meghan: You work a daytime job the rest of the week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm Meghan:

I do.... I work for a sculptor
  10:25pm P-90:

"Figure modelling", that sort of thing?
  10:26pm Hello from Southern Brazil!:

Love this Kadavar song...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Meghan:

I am a mold maker, caster, welder, ummmmm a little bit of everything..... hahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Folsom:

I bet if your show got 85K like Jonesy, you could name your time. Maybe start a IB of M.
  10:27pm sara:

: p i'll "model" your figure p-90 watch out
  10:28pm P-90:

Just kidding, now I remember hearing you refer to sculpture and the art world and stuff, I'm half awake/asleep myself when UWTP is on
  10:30pm Terry:

Meghan - I have been listening to your shows for years. You are a great gift to the world of music! Please keep doing what you do. Just say the word and your fans will rise up behind you for a new time. <Who do you want to knock out?>
  10:32pm Terry:

On the other hand, could you stand to leave the rest of us up at 6:00 on Thursdays???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Meghan:

haha... Thanks Terry! I am equally torn myself! I would be sad to leave my listeners at 6 am.... but I would hope they would follow me to the new spot.... if it ever did happen!
  10:34pm Cooh John:

Raise your hand if you remember when this song came out.
  10:34pm ?:

We'll get hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh!!!
  10:35pm Psychopath Jim Fields:

We'll get hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Folsom:

What's the term for the shows like Jones? Premier, something like that. Let's get Meghan's show up in the spotlight. Maybe Ken could even run the playlist.
Avatar 10:37pm Jeff:

So... excuse me for being unfamiliar with past Themes.

Did you ever do pop songs in a minor key? Because that would be pretty awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Meghan:

oh I haven't...... I am still trying to figure out how to do a theme about Morse Code!
  10:39pm P-90:

"Minor Key"? A theme maybe?
  10:39pm Sky Saxon:

Thanks for remembering me Meghan! Keep rockin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Folsom:

You could start with YYZ.
Avatar 10:40pm JakeGould:

Jacob’s Ladder, Folsom. Or 2112. This is Friday, yo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Meghan:

I'm ignoring the Rush..... lalalalalalalala
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm Folsom:

The beat for YYZ is the morse code for the Toronto airport.
  10:42pm frenchee:

fantastic show, Ms. Meghan!
  10:43pm Sky Saxon:

  10:44pm P-90:

There are certain Motown songs that have what they call "SOS-style" rythm guitar, if that's not too esoteric. Some songs have snippets of Morse in them, like at the end of "London Calling"....
--that theme IS a challenge
Avatar 10:45pm JakeGould:

Closer to the heart, Meghan. CLOSER TO THE HEART!!!!
  10:47pm Cooh John:

SOS by the Police?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Folsom:

Maybe some Alan Parsons or Slipknot
Avatar 10:49pm JakeGould:

Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill. Dot-dot-dash-dash.
  10:53pm Terry:

what's freeform if you can't play a song again?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm davex:

Africa archives are definitely worth it...
  10:54pm Terry:

Stick it in the middle of another set and no one will ever know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm Folsom:

haha for the jerkoffs (or jerk-offs)
  11:00pm Terry:

Some say Sopwith Camel were very psychedelic e.g You Always Tell Me Baby/Maybe in a Dream
  11:10pm P-90:

That's some damn fine psychedelia coming out of Indonesia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Meghan:

maybe I should do some more exploring over there.... ala Africa? perhaps?
  11:18pm frenchee:

and Wire of course
  11:22pm P-90:

Bet you'd find some rich pickings. Indonesia is vast and has a lot of different countries/cultures, like Africa.
The Africa days were great, by the way, that was epic! --and very much appreciated.
I miss the Africa days on UWTP, every week was a small revelation...
  11:24pm Terry:

isn't Polynesian music psychedelic by it's very nature?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm Meghan:

P-90.... I miss it too. It was a lot of work with a great payoff! I have to say I am really really happy with how the premium turned out. I have listened to it non stop
  11:30pm P-90:

I think a lot of listeners would say it was your finest hour, so far that is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm Tome:

.. does the snoopy dance to the coffee pot ... \///\\//\\
  11:34pm Terry:

My daughter is at Barnard studying French and Arabic languages. We both loved your series. I await your premium CD which will be a birthday present to her. The series deserves a much wider audience. Music is a great introduction to other cultures which we might otherwise only hear about through tales of violence. Hearing the music of others brings us closer to them as people like ourselves, not just villains portrayed in the news. Thanks again Meghan for all you do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm Meghan:

awwww shucks. I should have had her on to help me pronounce the names of some of those songs!
  11:38pm nate:

listening to underwater theme park while watching roller derby and eating bagel bites, good times
  11:38pm P-90:

@ Terry & DJ Meghan: You mention your daughter at school-- I was just thinking that the Africa tour was like taking a course, a class one went to once a week for x weeks, and got a systematic introduction to the subject
  11:44pm KP:

Well you got me out of that restaurant and within earshot but it's a little late
  11:44pm Terry:

@P-90 Yes, and a great temptation to follow in our intrepid DJs footsteps through the sands, jungles, and cities of the continent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm Tome:

...thinks he's invisible ..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm Meghan:

I am actually going to Africa this summer..... so I will be returning with armloads of stuff!
  11:48pm Terry:

Can't wait to hear your plunder in future shows!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm davex:

Where are you going, Meghan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm Meghan:

Amsterdam, Kenya and South Africa.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm davex:

Sounds like a lot of fun! Give us a wave as you fly over Germany...
Avatar 11:54pm JakeGould:

Popping in to say this part of the show is quite damn good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55pm Meghan:

Which part? The African, the psych?
Avatar 11:57pm JakeGould:

The now part. But past 57 minutes.
  11:58pm Terry:

I would say all 3 hours - well done Meghan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Since yesterday morning, "Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam" has been my earworm. Good earworm, not the bad kind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm davex:

Excellent show - the time slot suits you well!
