Avatar 9:11am doca:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am Liz Berg:

Greetings everyone! Great to have you all here today!
Avatar 9:14am duke:

Happy morning everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am Parq:

Nifty opening, Miz Liz. By the way, that was a really great segue out of Hatikvah.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Liz Berg:

This is my attempt to make a FMA mix that is fit for a wedding reception, ha ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Liz Berg:

Question for anyone who had themselves a wedding: what was the craziest song you snuck onto the reception playlist?
Avatar 9:32am bibi:

i had once the spouse dancing/sliding barefoot on dull wine-poured beige tiling. it was fat drum n bass, i'd say roni size. no one was harmed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Jeroen Kuster:

Good morning all.
hi Liz
you always have such incredible good music.
thanks thanks thanks thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am Liz Berg:

Sounds like a good party, bibi! Thanks for the nice words, Jeroen!

Avatar 9:44am HarktheUmpire:

Liz, if you can sneak this track into the playlist, I will worship you:
Avatar 9:47am HarktheUmpire:

The reception playlist that is.
  9:48am KP:

Hello from 20th
Avatar 9:49am bibi:

is it an atheist/agnostic wedding ? it can make a big difference.
Avatar 9:49am dc pat:

When I got hitched it was all Tom Waits, Howlin Wolf, Nick Cave, and Pogues, stuff like that. Not too weird.
  9:50am r i s k y:

Goddamn Liz, I was just jamming at my desk with my eyes closed. I got very emotional to that Nite Jewel. Thanks!
Avatar 9:50am bibi:

tell me this is older than tom tom club.
Avatar 9:51am HarktheUmpire:

Right, that song I suggested might not be appreciated at a Christian wedding.
Great set, by the way!
Avatar 9:52am βrian:

Checking in for my morning dose of gravitas. Good morning.
Avatar 9:53am duke:

Erotic Robots sounds like Dr. Bootygrabber
Avatar 9:55am bibi:

@duke, you can make out so many sentences out of these words.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am mariano:

Oh, I was wondering not long ago what song this great keyboard/bass break was from. Mystery solved!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am Liz Berg:

You are all at a wedding reception on Planet Liz.
Avatar 10:06am βrian:

has got ... oy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am mariano:

Is it the reception for the first human/robot wedding?
Avatar 10:11am bibi:

come on, mariano, this happened nearly a century ago. now robots and johansson-pods are so... well, i wont tell more, maybe some here havent seen the movie yet.
Avatar 10:13am Lucas:

Dont know if robots could process these sounds
Avatar 10:13am still b/p:

My IRS tax-line helper this morning was quite unrobotic -- had a Matthew McConaughey air about him, saying things like,
"Well, just think about that a minute..."
Avatar 10:14am βrian:

"Eroding the heartland of capitalism, free music takes away our liberty!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am mariano:

@bibi: don't get me wrong, not judging, I meant it as a compliment -- I might wind up being mainly robot one day myself!
Avatar 10:17am βrian:

I was trying to imagine what a discog was and who might host one.
Avatar 10:17am bibi:

@mariano, according to yr avatar, metamorphosis started ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am mariano:

@bib: Hah! Well, that damned avatar has a better head of hair than I do.
Avatar 10:21am Davee:

The pop up started cutting out every 2 seconds - really made this sound bizaar
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am mariano:

Oh hey, sorry to abuse my posting privileges, but I always meant to ask someone who knows more French than I do about this Liminanas song: what's a cachou, in terms of pills? I know it's cashew, but sounds like he's offering her a drug. Of course, sometimes a cashew is just a cashew...
Avatar 10:22am bibi:

her heart goes bibi ? :)
Avatar 10:22am Davee:

Bless you!
Avatar 10:23am Lucas:

@mariano: the licking puppet jajaja :)
  10:24am JohnEBGood:

Hi Liz! Thanx for your hard work and leadership. FMU forever ; )
  10:25am Robert:

whenever I hear that one, I substitute the lines:

The road runner goes "Beep, beep."

That little Nash Rambler goes "beep, beep, beep."
Avatar 10:26am bibi:

@mariano, in this case un cachou (un cacheton more regularly) is mdma, or just a cachou, which is already quite strong though not psychotropic.
Avatar 10:27am dc pat:

love Cronin. Totally kicks ass live.
  10:28am Robert:

As long as it's not made of caoutchou.
Avatar 10:29am βrian:

That's caoutchouc, Boo Boo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am mariano:

@bibi: je t'en remercie! I thought that's what it probably was, but when I lived over there years ago it wasn't really my scene, all the drug slang I learned revolved around le shit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am Liz Berg:

Thanks for the drug slang translations, you guys! I've learned so much!
  10:31am Robert:

Thanks, Brian. Before posting that, I Googled "en caoutchou" to check the speling. Lots of hits, but now that I look again, it first asked, "Did you mean caoutchouc?"
  10:34am Robert:

I misspelled "spelling". Is there a greater irony?
Avatar 10:35am bibi:

@mariano : et la beuh alors ?! where did you live ?
Avatar 10:36am βrian:

It's a very odd word. Apparently from Quechua.
My favorite French word: topinambour. Sounds like pillow-talk to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Mike East:

first day back from vacation...blah.
Avatar 10:38am HarktheUmpire:

@Robert: Maybe "I misspelled "spelling". Is there a greater oriny?"

Nah, that's just unfortunate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am mariano:

@bibi: I lived in Montpellier. The other day on one of the message boards, there was someone from Montpellier, turns out he lives about a block from my old apartment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Faye:

woohoo! this show is so perfect for this morning really...PERFECT!
Avatar 10:40am dc pat:

^ what Faye said.
Avatar 10:41am bibi:

@mariano, dont tell me you lived in these crazy boffill blocks ?! antigone is it ?
Avatar 10:44am bibi:

if someone cares, montpellier can look like that (without use of drugs) :
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am mariano:

@bibi: No, I was in Plan Cabanes, right off Cours Gambetta on rue Pellicier. Where are you located? For some reason I had it in my mind you're Finnish. PS ouais, la beuh toujours (et maintenant)!
Avatar 10:47am Lucas:

Montpeillier is a strange city :s
Avatar 10:48am dc pat:

oh, man thanks for playing Carla--haven't got around to listening to this yet.
Avatar 10:48am βrian:

Mon ex habite à Montpellier. *sigh*
Avatar 10:48am bibi:

@mariano, im in paris, never had a foot in montpellier but being an architect i've been traumatised by boffill forfeiture, notably in montpellier.
Avatar 10:50am bibi:

he also did that in france :
keep in mind it is social housing... would fit well on the 'stop having fun' track
Avatar 10:51am dc pat:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am mariano:

@bibi: Yeah, the photo in the link you posted reminded me of Tempelhof in Berlin, very fascist-deco. I lived in the much more charming older part of town (well, older to an American). The Medieval quarter and St Pierre are really cool.
Avatar 10:54am HarktheUmpire:

what the...
Tempelhof is very subtle compared to that.
That looks more like this to me:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am mariano:

@Hark: no, I meant the first link, but I'm definitely out of my depth when it comes to architectural comparisons.
Avatar 10:56am dc pat:

Nice set LizB.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am mariano:

@Brian: No exes in Montpellier, showed up with my then gf, but lots of what ifs.
@Lucas: Yeah, it can be a strange place, but usually in a good way.
Avatar 11:06am bibi:

@mariano, dont try to match a dutch about architecture, never !
it must have been a serious shift for you, montpellier is everything but north american...
my avatar could look finnish, i couldnt.
Avatar 11:08am HarktheUmpire:

@mariano: Aaah, OK. That does look a lot like Tempelhof, just more glass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am thriftstoreleather:

love that sax!
Avatar 11:09am HarktheUmpire:

@bibi: I know nothing about architecture, except that I don't like 99% of all buildings built after 1930.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am christopher in chinatown:

great set Liz! loved that Spike track. I have to get that album...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Liz Berg:

I must know what happened to her eyebrows!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am mariano:

@bibi: Well, I'm from New Orleans and spent 7 years as a kid in Latin America, so the Mediterranean setting wasn't too disorienting. In fact it was a really welcome change, since for the previous 5 years I'd been in Omaha (which does have lovely deco architecture) with its famous winters.
Avatar 11:12am bibi:

@hu, you are demanding, half of good architecture since then happens in yr country, the other half in switzerland. and im not going to comment american architecture, liz would kick me out.
Avatar 11:13am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

"What did you do to your eyebrows?" I look around NYC and say that to myself often.
Avatar 11:15am βrian:

The isthmus is quite renowned for it's (ugly) architecture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am mariano:

Maybe her eyebrows fell out after ingesting a tainted cachou.
Avatar 11:18am bibi:

@brian, but the context counterbalances it, amazing city location.
solids know how to use fuzz !
the eyebrows thing would make more sense from portugal's or spain's pop scene. just saying.
Avatar 11:19am βrian:

I've thought of trying establish a shelter for abused eyebrows. A place free from fear where one can grow and flourish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Ken From Hyde Park:

I have visited Montpellier a couple of times. I liked it there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am mariano:

@Brian: lots of old guys from the UK/Ireland have impressive Gandalfian eyebrows, and seem to be proud of them!
Avatar 11:23am βrian:

There's actually a fair amount of examples of the Prairie School and divergent buildings based on similar design principles. Quite nice. But the campus/downtown area, for example, is a meat grinder of schlock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am Guido from Cologne:

I think I have this Gen Ken Montgomery LP.
(That LP in paint sprayed cover?)
Were you on Gen Ken's temporary gallery re-lounch?
Avatar 11:29am bibi:

the 'gandalfian' description is more than accurate.
i suspect this killed by deathrock comp to be excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am mariano:

@Liz, your show provokes the most wide-ranging discussions: philosophy, architecture, drug slang, eyebrows...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am Liz Berg:

Even the playlist comments are freeform!
Avatar 11:33am βrian:

PSA: "These are your eyebrows on drugs ..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Guido from Cologne:

... agree ... it's remarkable ... unfortunately cannot read everything attentively enough for participating.
Avatar 11:35am HarktheUmpire:

That Damaged Bug song was excellent!
And now Cibo Matto! YES!
Let's all take some of that chashashouisish, raise our eyebrows and philosophize about architecture.
Avatar 11:35am Lucas:

Eclectic discussion
Avatar 11:36am bibi:

@liz, could you please sneak in fxo's laptop next week and tell us what software is he using for mashing up ? it's not that he doesnt want us to know but, you know, he's a shy one...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Gary:

Can't wait for Cibo on your show next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Guido from Cologne:

Avatar 11:38am Lucas:

So actually the most of the people are likely to live in ugly buildings(?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am mariano:

@Lucas: where, in Montpellier?
Avatar 11:49am βrian:

Ooh, that 70s clap loop!
Avatar 11:50am HarktheUmpire:

Liz, could you ask Cibo Matto if they're planning a European tour? I really wanna see them live.
Avatar 11:50am Lucas:

No in general. I was just thinking what could be the ratio between I Like/dislike my building. Or maybe people dont care.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Guido from Cologne:

Awesome show today!
Lotsa star-clickies!
  11:50am KP:

See ya Liz. Sum fun
Avatar 11:53am Sem Chumbo:

Thanks, Liz. Eclectic, in tuneage and convos. See ya next time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am mariano:

@Lucas: Oh, I see. Good question. I love and hate my building.
@Liz: Great show, thanks!
Bye everyone, lovely chatting, and happy Passover to anyone celebrating!
Avatar 11:54am bibi:

thk you liz, 8 on bibiscale.
dont forget to spy fxo next week, see you all.
Avatar 11:55am βrian:

Mine was built in 1927. Love it and am repainting/restoring it ever so slowly ...
Avatar 11:59am Lucas:

I see mmm I live in an ugly building but my appartement is so nice. But i think there is also interesting ugliness, true forms of life
Avatar 12:00pm Lucas:
