It would make quite a good film is done correctly. Lynch was actually pretty close, but not quite.

There were other really good, successful artists and designers participating. Salvador Dali was going to play the emperor, and design his own reception-hall set for the big confrontation at the end. David Carradine was gonna play the planetary ecologist guy who plots the greening of the desert planet and becomes a prophet to the people who live there. Orson Welles was interested in playing the Baron, Jodorowsky was gonna let him direct the close-ups in his scenes, like he had done on Catch-22
