I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

  1:55pm pete:

  1:56pm that guy:

always appreciate your show, Bryce. by the way - there's a piece you've played that Ashley performs on as vocalist - he reads from a buddhist text, i think ... no his composition, tho. does that ring any bells? i'd love to find out what it is.
Avatar 1:58pm chocolate monk:

aw man,, i could listen to Rabs voice for a fucking age...
Avatar 1:59pm Bryce:

yeah! that's a piece by eliane radigue, "mila's journey inspired by a dream", based on Milarepa.

alternates between the tibetan, intoned by lama kunga rinpoche, and the translation, robert ashletized.
Avatar 1:59pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

  2:18pm Lustre:

Fabio maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Carmichael:

It was the Adnos II piece, Bryce. You played it on March 7, according to the super-secret link to the FMU page at the top of your page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm northguineahills:

Kurt played this 13 months ago.

Avatar 2:28pm Sandy in Houston:

Howdy friends! This is a swell track.
Avatar 2:31pm steve:

hey Bryce. never felt like i "got" Ashley's Perfect Lives and related spoken word oriented work until just now. pretty incredible once you get under the spell.

also does anyone remember... do i recall correctly Kurt interviewed RA and then did his "pop songs picked by avant garde musicians" segment and Ashley chose a new commercial pop country song that baffled everyone?
Avatar 2:33pm Bryce:

oh yeah! shit, that was a couple years ago.

Avatar 2:34pm drewo:

Thanks Bryce. This is wonderful. My wife arranged for nursing care for Bob Ashley at his home in Manhattan during the last months of his life. The nurses all loved him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm common:

that's sweet, drewo.
Avatar 2:40pm Bryce:

wow, drewo, that's lovely.
Avatar Bryce's Tooth Hellraiser 2022 2:40pm Sem Chumbo:

Avatar 2:42pm Bryce:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Carmichael:

Dude's helping me to get my head together, man.
Avatar 2:50pm Parq:

I've been finding something very familiar about Robert Ashley's voice, and it finally occurred to me that I'd seen his collaboration with pianist 'Blue' Gene Tyranny on a video opera at the Kitchen in the early 80s. It took some googling, but I found the details here:
  2:50pm Bert Kombs:

I don't know. I thought I was 'cutting edge." I like Coldplay, The Fray, Maroon5. And I'm not young. But this? This is just crazy music. I am very uncomfortable over here.
Avatar 2:51pm Cheri Pi:

thanks for this killer tribute set Bryce.
Avatar 2:55pm Bryce:
