Nice job at the HoofNMouth, Ms Faye.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Oi, Faye! Congrats on a successful Marathon and Hoof and Mouth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm Ken From Hyde Park:

May we infer from the GIF that you're going to play some Lynryrd Skynyrd tonight?
Avatar 9:04pm yukamichi:

YMO! <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm maestroso:

Wow, this is YMO! Nice. Hallo Faye! Congratulations on the Marathon!
Avatar 9:04pm Richard from Venezuela:

Great song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm Faye:

Thanks 12539! Hi Greg! Thank you for all your help! HI Ken! No Lynryd tonight I'm afraid. YUKAMI <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm fleep:

Been scratching and sniffing the gif, getting nothing. Must be my browser. Howdy, Faye!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Rhody Chris:

Hola Faye and listeners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm pacific standard simon:

Droll is a terrible, terrible person; it's a feature, not a bug.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm fleep:

The nice waves generated by Faye and her music neutralize all the Baddy McBadbad people, even the worst of them like Droll.
Avatar 9:33pm Danne D:

What's the point of being Droll? ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Rhody Chris:

We have a lightning storm coming in. I'm thinking Faye's show is perfect to listen to while sitting outside watching the rain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Faye:

Hi IXKEY! hi PSS! hi Chris!
Avatar 9:34pm Richard from Venezuela:

Perfect music set for this evening. It's like therapy.
Avatar 9:34pm Droll:

It's not true! I'm bad! I'm bad! I'm really, really bad! Come on, you know it. I'm so bad I should be in detention!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Andrew Waterloo:

Hello, nice people, and droll
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm fleep:

The set reminds me of the Cafe del Mar compilations, it really wants water and a sunset.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Rhody Chris:

Can we get some Au Pairs, Faye? I'm on a bit of a kick with them lately.
Avatar 9:40pm BadGuyZero:

At first I thought it read "Lick Your Pork Chops" and now I'm hungry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Faye:

HMM ok Chris yes give me a minute
Avatar 9:49pm Danne D:

You never disappoint Faye :) Great show :)

Sounds good Faye, I'll be here all night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Cory:

Droll, if it makes you feel any better I think you're a horrible person just like I am. ^5 for my bad brother from another mother (and father)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Are those loon sounds in the back?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Dren Nilso:

Wow! Comment feed! First time feeding - long time listener! Thanks for the great music for a chilly Saturday night.
Avatar 10:03pm Danne D:

Hi Dren :) Yep most WFMU shows have a live comment feed - a fresh one for each episode. There's lots of good folks on here - it's a nice way to interact during the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm Dren Nilso:

Well right on! I've always kinda known about it, but haven't ever really hung out or posted anything. Nice to be here. THanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Dren - FYI, Shut Up, Weirdo is the title of one of WFMU's shows and not an unfriendly comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm pacific standard simon:

Faye, I have a treat for you -- it's two hours of a DJ on Radio Valencia chatting with Jonathan Richman about Lou Reed (on Reed's birthday) and playing VU music.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Rhody Chris:

Thanks, Faye! Jamout time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Faye:

Avatar 10:17pm Danne D:

@PSS that's cool :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm pacific standard simon:

Yer welcome! I've been saving the link for a couple weeks because of that gol dern marathon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Andrew Waterloo:

thanks for the link Simon.
Avatar 10:28pm Danne D:

Faye seems to be reading poems about stuff I think I'm allergic too. Perfume usually messes my sinuses up and I suspect that something in Lays Potato Chips causes allergies in me too.
Avatar 10:29pm Danne D:

Fortunately I'm not allergic to Faye's show :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Faye:

I'M not reading! it's Sydney & Laurel! :) but people often confuse our voices....in real life....
Avatar 10:32pm Danne D:

Oops apologies to Sydney and Laurel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm fleep:

Interestingly, I use the Miyake, and I am an alien hoping to be detected as a real human body. Good job!
Avatar 10:45pm Danne D:

I'm heading to the car so I'll probably off the comments the rest of tonight. Thanks for your usual delightful show Faye :)
Have a good night everyone!

Graham has great music taste and his writing work is fantastic. I'm very much looking forward to hearing his set of his favorite female based music (created or fronted) and chatting w/ Vicki.
Avatar 10:47pm Shaun(ununun):

!* I've been on an Ideal kick lately, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Fuzzy:

Nice link, PSS -- gonna listen later!
Avatar 10:51pm party sub:

Tullycraft! Hi Faye!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm Faye:

hey Fuzzy! hey party sub!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm pacific standard simon:

Yeah, Fuzzy, I wouldn't want to pull anyone away from Faye. But you can't love ALL FMU DJs, so there's bound to be some free time for extracurricular listening later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm pacific standard simon:

I've been trying to make music on my computer lately, and most of the midi voices sound really awful (especially the woodwinds) but, for whatever reason, the vibraphone sounds really decent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Blacktooth:

WFMU - "selecting even the strangest Beyonce' songs for you..." I'm digging this
Avatar 11:18pm Peteski:

you very funny faye
Avatar 11:18pm Shaun(ununun):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Wait, why don't I listen to the dB's all the time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm pacific standard simon:

Pretty sure this is the only dBs song I really know -- because I put it on a break-up mix CD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Dren Nilso:

ah! awesome - this song was on the dBs tape i had - when i only had a couple tapes in my car for a few months. i listened to it over and over and over! great driving song - and the best on the tape i think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Gaylord Fields:

Faye, remind me to tell you my story about buying the first dB's LP when I see you next. Like most stories involving their music, all ends quite happily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm Faye:

oh my yes I will indeed remind you I will I will!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm Faye:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm Dren Nilso:

You should tell us all the story right now Gaylord!! I'd love to hear it!
  11:24pm Danne D:

Had to come back cuz you are playing probably my favorite dBs song Faye :)

btw the poetry is a very nice touch to your show - hope you do it again :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm pacific standard simon:

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Avatar 11:27pm coelacanth:

Hi Faye. (& all)- i recorded the Dbs song from wpix fm during the few months (at most) when it seemed as if the station had been taken hostage by people with good taste- around 1979. I never knew who did it,and haven't heard it in many years, since my 8-track player died sometime in the 80s! Thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Gaylord Fields:

@Dren Nilso: Perhaps I'll share an abbreviated version of it on my own comments page the next time I a) play the dB's and b) activate comments. Both may occur sooner than you'd think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Faye:

hey nice to hear so many nice stories about Black & White!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm pacific standard simon:

Ah, here's the part I like best....
Swag For Life Member 11:32pm 12539:

I'd like a perfume that smells like this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm Dren Nilso:

@Gaylord Fields: I will be listening!!
Avatar 11:34pm JakeGould:

Belated hello all & Faye! Will enjoy this final 1/2 hour tonight as if it were the full 3.
  11:34pm P-90:

@coelacanth: I remember those few magical days at WPIX in 1979-80! For a moment, the station became THE cool station in the city, playing the commercial hits of he day (many of which were great) and a lot of the best new music. That funny little PIX "golden age" still omes up from time to time in conversation with music lovers who lived in the city at that time...
Avatar 11:34pm coelacanth:

While i'm in blabber mode- I thought from the kitchen during that Beyonce song how i didn't like the lead vocalist's singing style but really liked the arrangement...Then i find out it's her...Now,despite not liking the singing,i must reconsider my distaste for Beyonce.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Dren Nilso:

You (Gaylord) Duane and Faye are my faves right now. Thanks!
Avatar 11:36pm JakeGould:

I just searched the inter webs about WPIC back in the 1979-80 “New Wave” phase. So happy to have been 11-12 years old back then. books.google.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm Faye:

oh damn Dren I am stoked to be in that list
Avatar 11:37pm coelacanth:

P-90-That's beautiful! You are the first person i've EVER mentioned that to who also knew about it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Dren Nilso:

You rock Faye! Plus you totally cater to my twee needs! And have introduced me to some great artists!
Avatar 11:39pm JakeGould:

I also really like this perfume bottle animation.
Avatar 11:44pm Danne D:

I'm home (as I guess the dBs made me drive faster)

@P-90 and coelacanth I can't say that I directly remember that one year of PIX as I am a bit young but I do remember my brother-in-law waxing poetic about it many times - basically that PIX somehow had lured all the best DJs for that one year somehow and how good it all was.
  11:46pm P-90:

@JakeG.: thanks for the New York mag link, what a time-warp experience reading that, the descriptions in the article give some idea of what they were doing

@coelacanth: This 79-80 PIX thing came up inconversation with freinds just a few weeks ago, its definitely not forgotten
Avatar 11:46pm coelacanth:

Yes wpix turned me on at a young age to lots of punk & new wave, but also Iggy Pop,Velvet Underground,Captain Beefheart-etc etc and much 60s psych.
...I thought it was much less than a year, but maybe i just found out late.
Avatar 11:50pm JakeGould:

FWIW, I remember that era of WPIX since that is exactly when I was in 7th grade and going to JHS. This was in Brooklyn. I had this homeroom teacher—who was also our math teacher—who would genuinely reward kids for getting problems right with 45s. He kept them locked in a closet in the back of the room & it was like magic when someone—not me—scored a Joan Jett 45 of “Fake Friends” I believe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm pacific standard simon:

Does that Scratch Acid track remind anyone else of Led Zeppelin fronted by Lux Interior?
Avatar 11:51pm coelacanth:

...When i got up for school one morning and turned on pix to hear "love songs-nothing,but love songs" i nearly cried! ...But that's when wfmu,(which i'd discovered in 1977,but it was too weird for me !), became my main station.
After wpix i couldn't go back to wnew!
Avatar 11:53pm coelacanth:

JakeGould,That was an amazing teacher!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm pacific standard simon:

Wait, am I a song behind the playlist? This sure doesn't sound like any Soft Machine I ever heard.
Avatar 11:53pm listener mark:

Thank you Faye. Excellent show. Enjoyed the Spoken Word portion of the radio programme.
Avatar 11:53pm JakeGould:

Yup. Mr. Richman. What a guy!
  11:54pm P-90:

@DanneD: that you heard about it often enough from your brother-in-law to have taken note of it illustrates my point to coel that that era is well- and fondly-recalled
Avatar 11:55pm ranjit:

can we have a set of all soft bands? soft moon, soft boys, soft machine...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm pacific standard simon:

Yeah, I like the piano feature. How about some Debussy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm Blacktooth:

I've heard a LOT of good Carlton Melton songs played on this station. I guess it's time to get hip, and dive into them...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm Gaylord Fields:

@ranjit: The Softies...
Swag For Life Member 11:57pm 12539:

Extrafabulous show tonight, Faye!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm pacific standard simon:

She's faye-ded.
Avatar 11:57pm Danne D:

g'night again everyone :)
thanks again Faye! :)
  11:58pm P-90:

@Faye: Thanks! Primo set list tonight! DJ's seem to be coming out of the Marathon with an extra "charge"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Greg from Bloomfield:

JEEZ it's 12 already?! Good grief. Thanks, Faye!
Avatar 11:58pm ranjit:

Soft Cell
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm pacific standard simon:

You're crazy! It's only 9 o'clock!
Avatar 11:59pm coelacanth:

I guess i was on the young cusp of experiencing wpix. I'm sure it would have to be well remembered.
(i also learned of Jonathan Richmond on wpix!)
Avatar 11:59pm JakeGould:

Good show for the small amount of time I got to enjoy it!
Avatar 12:00am coelacanth:

Thank you Faye.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01am pacific standard simon:

I'd endorse a set of all songs by bands named after William Burroughs texts.
Avatar 9:29am HEAT:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Cooh John:

A most excellent and eclectic show. Had to get Carsick Cars. Loved the spoken word.
