I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

people all hail BRYCE as if it were a drone of the masses
  12:20pm doca:

but I think you should do a whole singer-songwriter show, Bryce, to avoid typecasting yourself.

Howdy Bryce and gang!

I thought my neighbors were really cool, but no, I accidentally hit my wfmu app and thought it was them. That was a complement.

whoa, what happened to the dang morning??

love this

Takes me back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Carmichael:

Daddy loves his brooding music.
  12:40pm columbus rules:

To think, if I left here and moved to some hell hole in Jersey, then I could be listening to this on a boom box!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm common:

this is beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Carmichael:

This is odd. OK, oddly beautiful, I'll give you that.
Avatar 12:55pm doca:

who is who on this berlin jazz workshop orchestra?
Avatar 12:58pm doca:

well, www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Carmichael:

This is more like it, Daddy-o.
Avatar 1:02pm Bryce:

doca, i was gonna say...it's like a million people! :)
Avatar 1:04pm Cecile:

this is amazing.
Avatar 1:04pm Cecile:

It's like Braxton playing swing.
Avatar 1:07pm Bryce:

yeah, reminds me of that Creative Music 1974 record!
Avatar 1:08pm Bryce:

Creative Orchestra Music 1976, doh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Carmichael:

Stan Kenton ... Wow. Now, just some Graettinger and I can die happily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm tim from champaign:

This Stan Kenton is interesting. Why did I think he was a stuff shirt?
Avatar 1:15pm Bryce:

tim, it wasn't stan kenton's music, but a guy named Robert Graettinger. brilliant, brilliant composer, died tragically young.

stan kenton really really went out on a limb though, going around playing graettinger's music for a couple years. if it weren't for him, he probably wouldn't have been able to write it all....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm tim from champaign:

Oh wow, thanks Bryce!
Avatar 1:17pm Bryce:

there was a reissue CD a few years ago that collected pretty much all of his stuff ever recorded. if you ever come across it, it's totally amaaaazing. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Ike:

@Columbus@12:40, hey dammit, my neighborhood resembles that remark. I love listening to FMU on boomboxes & portables. It's great. Also NJ has more trees than you prob. think. That said, crime is going up in my area. I should really GTFO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm tim from champaign:

Speaking of gongs and bowing, I saw the Nakatani Gong Orchestra last night. It was fantastic. Nakatani performed a solo percussion set prior to the orchestra. I'd put him up there with Paal Nilsen Love and Han Bennink as far as incredibly creative players go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm DCE:

how'd Mrs tfc enjoy playing in the orchestra?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm tim from champaign:

She had a great time, DCE. She played one of the smaller gongs and stood in front of the biggest gong. She loved hearing all the subtle sounds coming off the big gong. She also said Nakatani was a lot of fun to work with.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm DCE:

she figured out the hand signals OK, then...looked kinda wildly confusing to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Carmichael:

I didn't realize Graettinger actually wrote that piece. Kenton was a maverick who rubbed purists the wrong way for years.
Avatar 1:59pm dc pi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm DCE:

speaking of pi, where the heck is she on this day of days?
Avatar 2:02pm dc pat:

good question. Haven't seen her to day but I've been pretty fekkin busy.
Avatar Bryce's Tooth Hellraiser 2022 Swag For Life Member 2:02pm fred:

@dc pi: Nice. Though I missed Keili's show struggling to stay awake during a presentation about harmonic models that involved a lot of phases and pi was everywhere

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm tim from champaign:

@DCE - I skipped out for lunch. I haven't had a chance yet to ask her about Nakatami's hand signals. I'll let you know what I find out.
Avatar 2:13pm dc pat:

@fred: ok, I was over on Doug's comments this morning...but not much.

@Pat: nice and proper use of the word 'feckin'. But then again, you're Irish.
Avatar 2:37pm Bryce:

M Chopp! are you eating giant doritos in the giant doritos machine?
Avatar 2:38pm Bryce:

hey, steve! really nice meeting you the other day.
Avatar 2:43pm steve:

you too Bryce!! good times.
  2:43pm Brian:

Hi, don't listen to your show often. Great stuff today, thanks! BTW City of Glass really is amazing esp. when you think about when it was composed. Cornel Taranu was an ear opener...very Varese-ish, I'll have to look for that.
  2:48pm A&R:

Enjoying this Patrick Kosk. I hear a single.
Avatar 2:50pm Bryce:

thanks, brian, so glad you were around today!

yeah, early 50s. i don't think anyone in the jazz world was terribly taken with graettinger's music when kenton was carting it around. took 40 years....
Avatar 2:51pm Bryce:

keep an eye on me, A&R. i'm SOLID GOLD.
Avatar 2:55pm Bryce:

see yous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm George of Troy:

Thanks Bryce!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm DCE:

oh it's handoff time, bye Bryce
Avatar 2:58pm doca:

thanks, Bryce. Slept through half the show because I'm cold, but it did some cool effects on my dreams
