Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:13pm glenn:

ummm ummm umm. merle haggard.
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:13pm Carmichael:

Ohh, nice trick, Fred. Thanks!
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:13pm doca:

How much money the station is needing in this funathon actually?
  Fri. 2/28/14 5:15pm Santos L Halper:

That Merle song was played by Doug or UM today.
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:16pm fred:

@doca: the same trick works on the front page for the overall goal
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:17pm doca:

I always think this song was made specially for WFMU
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:17pm Parq:

I confess, I didn't realize Kurt had done a guest shot on Sesame St.
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:17pm doca:

@fred: thanks!
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:22pm fred:

@doca: it sounds like a lot until you realize what the station does with it. Then it's really amazing what they do with it. Best bang for the buck ever
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:22pm Carmichael:

1 mouse pledge would pretty much slam dunk this!
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:24pm doca:

@fred: Yes, exactly, I don't what are usually radio stations budgets, but for me it's amazing that WFMU runs only on one hundred thousand a month
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:27pm Carmichael:

They'll be rolling in it, once Ken's Komedy Klub is finished and they bring in people like Pauly Shore and Latka.
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:28pm Parq:

This is the song she wrote about her late sister. She was in tears by the end of their performance of this song at the post-Sandy record fair a year ago.
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:32pm fred:

It's not like they were throwing money into executive compensation either. It's a labor of love for the paid staff, and that staff is tiny. Almost all DJs are volunteers who contribute untold hours to their shows, plus duties from cleaning to the mandatory prayer circle that keeps the elevator moving. Your swag envelope might carry Kurt's saliva for all you know (that may not be an incentive)
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:38pm ░╫Kℰ░:

@Doca and Fred, WNYC, the big non-commercial NPR news/talk station around here, has a massive budget and pays its chief an absurd mid-six-figure salary, yet a LOT of people in my social circle donate to them. To be fair, they have some very good programs including BBC and CBC stuff and they provide at least a few FMU DJs w/their "real" paid jobs, but I prefer to give my $$$ to FMU, a much more frugal labor of love, not a big machine full of underwriting.
  Fri. 2/28/14 5:39pm KP:

Thanks! Was impressed with Dot at the Sandy shifted record fair
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:40pm doca:

I LOVE THIS SONG!!! First listened to it here on Kurt's show
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:40pm fred:

@Carmichael: I think Ken renamed it the Khomedy Khlub in honor of Khlam. I heard from unnamed sources than he's legally changing his name to Khlen (unnamed sources=I just made it up)
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:42pm doca:

It reminds of Zumbis do Espaço, the Brazilian version of the Misfits. They have a song called "A marca dos três noves invertidos" (The sign of the three inverted nines) which is hilarious
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:42pm fred:

$131 from the goal, even nearer than 666
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:44pm fred:

$96 left!
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:45pm Parq:

We are the 99%.
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:46pm fred:

Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:46pm Carmichael:

This is the moment when we need a 1%er.
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:47pm steve:

this guy gets it
Avatar    Fri. 2/28/14 5:48pm Guido (Cologne):

Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:48pm fred:

Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:48pm doca:

@Guido: You're the 1%er?
  Fri. 2/28/14 5:48pm KP:

Yay, Kurt!
Avatar Fri. 2/28/14 5:49pm Carmichael:

Avatar    Fri. 2/28/14 5:51pm Guido (Cologne):
