Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

catching breath ... sweet comment-board oxygen ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Thanks, it was hard to breathe in here.
Avatar 6:09pm david_:

The triumvirate returns!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thursday tripod: Fabio, Julie & Clay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Ike:

Clay, 40%?! Really? You're doing it wrong.

Good to hear the triumvirate back together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I miss listening to Dark Night of the Soul during the currently bygone days of me being up that late.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Owlex:

I can play molly hatchet at any given moment. Hell yeah clay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Carmichael:

Molly Hatchet? How do you fit all 12 guitarists in that tiny studio?!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Guido (Cologne):

I just was about to say about this guy from Judas Priest ... his outfit was much too obvious ...wasn't ii? No need for coming out .... though in the Metal world maybe noone wanted it to be true ? ... i cannot judge ... he#s considered to be one of the earliest to be openly gay ...
  6:13pm SeanG:

THIS ROCKS!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Guido (Cologne):

@ Carmichael
you should have seen Cathedral on stage ... some numberless guitarists ... most of them busy with twisting amp-knobs and gettin legs and hair in position afterwards ...
Avatar 6:15pm dale:

thought she gaze referred to the loser audience
Avatar 6:16pm Whooda:

oh no, now I have to be self-conscious about my leg listening stance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm mariano:

Don't think anyone from Bananarama died: there were only ever 3, but one of them left. Interestingly, they're the top-selling all-female act of all time, at least according to their wiki page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Guido (Cologne):

Noise pop it was called back ten.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm mariano:

Chapterhouse, esp "Breather!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm fleep:

The first hit on 'wide stance' brings up Senator Larry Craig.
Avatar 6:18pm glenn:

blur's 200 times better than oasis, which ain't saying much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Guido (Cologne):

Long Hair and legs wide open ...
... all metal gys are tans-gender ... hehehe
Avatar 6:18pm dale:

vic damone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

As I have aged I have grown contempt for people who stand too still at shows. My threshold depends on the band, but I have no tolerance for young me.
Avatar 6:19pm dale:

feeling stronger every day was a 45 i LOVED!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I don't remember what we called the shoegaze bands when they were big. Just fuzzy bands, I guess. Didn't hit upon the term shoegaze until later, but loved that sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm mariano:

Larry Craig is totally shoegaze! Or shoetap, at least.
Avatar 6:20pm Whooda:

@fleep that's too funny. Wasn't that the politician arrested for hitting on other men in bathroom stalls?
Avatar 6:20pm dale:

i also loved the 45 of marie osmond singing paper roses, so what did i know?
  6:20pm P-90:

is she still conscious?
Avatar 6:21pm dale:

maybe he just needed someone to spare a square
  6:21pm LovecraftDude888:

one of the Bananarama chicks Siobhan Fahey quit in 1988 due to differences with the other two chicks....the other two are still going now as Bananarama etc. But all are alive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

When I think of feet tapping in the stall, I think of the Not Necessarily the News sketch where the three My Three Sons feet are tapping to the music under a stall door.
  6:22pm LovecraftDude888:

carry on....
Avatar 6:22pm dale:

jules - play some moody blues during your segment with irene and i'll donate to you guys.
  6:22pm SeanG:

CETERA RULES
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm common:

hey clay, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Pete - is there a sniglet for that?
Avatar 6:24pm dale:

donovan's 'nirvana' cd from around 2002, '03 is incredible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm mariano:

Yeah, Mr Craig was the totally-not-cruising-for-sex-in-the-men's-room politician.
Avatar 6:26pm Marcel M:

Where is Fabio?!?!???!
Avatar 6:26pm Marcel M:

Bring back The Colonel of Truth!!!
Avatar 6:26pm david_:

the glory of triumvirate love
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Guido (Cologne):

... i think that stupid Blavatsky term "new agae" doesn't work at all ... for accoustic guitar music .... brrrrr
Avatar 6:27pm dale:

check out manassas julie.
Avatar 6:27pm northguineahills:

Back in the early 90s, we called it shoegaze in FL.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm common:

best vampire movie, methinks, is herzog's nosferatu and daughters of darkness is a close second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Guido (Cologne):

.... maybe i completely ignored the term shoegaze ... or it was coined in Florida ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

No sniglet, Ken. Nevertheless sticks out in my mind like a toasticle in butter, or a flir on a good film, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Guido (Cologne):

"Fireball" is top!
THE LAST SONG!
"NO ONE CAME"
I love the self-irony in the lyrics.
Avatar 6:30pm david_:

Yngwie Malmsteen's favorite Deep Purple album... wow.
  6:31pm SeanG:

Clay, Play some Yngwie Malmsteen, that would be awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Guido (Cologne):

OK, all left to to is to let the 2nd side run to the end, OK?
Avatar 6:31pm northguineahills:

Clay reminds me of Homer when try to explains rock to Bart and the kids on the Lolapapooza episode.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I forgot about Stan. The times I've made it to Stan are few, but memorable. Except that I forgot them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm fleep:

@Whooda From the images online, the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport men's room is now something of a tourist attraction.
Avatar 6:32pm Marcel M:

LOL northguineahills
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

You jive turkey.

(A turkey is a bad person.)
Avatar 6:32pm glenn:

no way, common. best vampire movie is love at first bite.
  6:33pm lynn l:

fabio clay and hearty are juuuust right
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm common:

@glenn: i stand corrected!
Avatar 6:34pm dale:

best vampire movie is andy warhols dracula. no discussion needed. unless you condsider blackula, then we can argue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm not aquadextrous, but I experienced a downpause the other day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm common:

those are both great, dale!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Guido (Cologne):

There are nice richie blackmore TV footages ...
finger tapping solos with the left hand ...
simultaneously holding a bottle of beer in the right hand ... and having a deep gulp from it ..
THIS is WAY OUT COOL!
Avatar 6:36pm glenn:

i saw a.w.'s frankenstein. never saw dracula.
Avatar 6:37pm Whooda:

@fleep the best tourist attractions have souvenirs but I'll be damned if I can think of an appropriate memento of that event. Maybe a bendable rubber figure with a 'oh shit' look painted on his face.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Guido (Cologne):

.. gof bless the Leslie cabinet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm common:

@glenn: they're basically the same movie. both so good.
Avatar 6:38pm dale:

frankenstin was in 3D too!
Avatar 6:39pm david_:

The time you're awake, the European audience you crave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Andrew Waterloo:

It's the nostalgia.
Avatar 6:40pm InBrkly:

ha not the first ministry album
Avatar 6:41pm Clay Pigeon:

love the first ministry album
Avatar 6:41pm Whooda:

Which world ending event are we talking about?
  6:41pm SeanG:

Fabio is Dracula
  6:41pm Meghan:

That first Ministry album is very goth pop. Not industrial at all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Clay should strive to get all the DJs (not all at once, obviously) on his show. I occasionally catch part of Julie's show. I know she ends her show with a Syd Barrett song. I need to go into town for groceries now. See ya!
Avatar 6:41pm InBrkly:

On my mix tapes this usually goes next to a Red Lorry Yellow Lorry track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm common:

@clay and inbrkly: me too such a different sound! and killing joke.
Avatar 6:42pm Clay Pigeon:

hi everyone. i'm winging it. no sleep til mahwah. working HARD on CC6. you're gonna dig it. love from nyc to wherever you are. peace.
Avatar 6:42pm glenn:

dale, remember channel 7 had friday night horror movies? that's where i first saw the bela lugosi dracula film. (did james whale direct that?) it was pretty damn terrifying at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Guido (Cologne):

... ~~~~ bad memories ~~~~
Killing Joke go pop ... and I must hear it in a village disco 1000 times and even doesn't help to get a girl ... so what ... reasons to hate a song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I have heard differing stories about the sincerity of that album. Someone I know insists it was not done in earnest, which makes sense if the title is tongue-in-cheek.
  6:43pm Meghan:

Julie find me a beer for the meeting! Please....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Mahwah is one of the secret fulcrums of my life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm marycarnival:

Portland says 'hello' back!
  6:44pm r i s k y:

GO CLAY! Always puts a smile on my face.

Digging the killing joke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Carmichael:

Has there been a band called Fulcrum?
Avatar 6:44pm Snortley:

Don't like Ministry, but got to see them free and go backstage because, at a time that the press reported that they had cleaned up, a friend of mine was delivering smack to Jorgenson and his gal.
Avatar 6:45pm dale:

don't remember glenn. i remember 29 and 17 had tons of movies. i remember the channel 7 movie for a rainy afternoon or whatever it was on weekends (million dollar movie?). where i saw all the jason and the argonaut movies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Andrew Waterloo:

I saw Ministry a few years ago when they were also touring Revolting Cocks. It was a fun show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm common:

yo philly!
  6:46pm SeanG:

long way to love!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Carmichael:

Clay Kasem!
Avatar 6:47pm Snortley:

They had skulls on poles onstage. Seemed silly.
Avatar 6:47pm david_:

Dizzy Dean sounds a lot like Paul Stanley.
Avatar 6:47pm glenn:

oh yeah. they had the best bad special effects.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm common:

i saw ministy in 92. skulls on poles. fires in the pit. it was pretty great.
Avatar 6:48pm glenn:

maybe, but i bet he won more cy young awards than paul.
  6:48pm Eric:

I call this "Heavy Glam" rather than Hair Metal
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Why thank you, Clay. Feels good to rock with you, too.
Avatar 6:48pm dale:

saw jason and the golden fleece a couple of weeks ago - the sword weilding skeletons are FANTASTIC. honor blackman was his goddess guardian and she was a piece of you know what - gorgeous!
Avatar 6:51pm Whooda:

My mom died today. Seriously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm common:

sorry whooda.
Avatar 6:52pm dale:

peace to her soul and yours.
Avatar 6:52pm Whooda:

Thanks Common. It will take a few years to really hit me.
Avatar 6:53pm Whooda:

I'm happy for her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm common:

@whooda: had someone close pass last month. had another very close someone pass 13 years ago. never gets easy, but the love is always there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I used to listen to Clay, Julie, and Fabio when going to visit my mom before losing her. Brought a lot of needed humanity to a bad time.

It never makes sense, but it's normal that it doesn't.
Avatar 6:54pm Marcel M:

I sent you an email once and you never responded, but I didn't hold it against you Clay :-)
Avatar 6:55pm northguineahills:

Holy darn. Can't imagine. Hope you find peace (not good w/ words right now, whooda).
Avatar 6:56pm glenn:

don't feel bad. he never answers emails.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Thanks, Clay!
  6:56pm r i s k y:

HAIL PIGEON!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

"Fodder for the grave"! I just got a new line to add to my answer to "How come you don't use Facebook?"
Avatar 6:57pm dale:

clay - you sound sleep-deprived. take some ambien when you get home and wake up tomorrow afternoon.
Avatar 6:57pm Whooda:

I'm fine everyone. Thanks NGH
  6:57pm LovecraftDude888:

sorry Whooda....jeez
Avatar 6:58pm Marcel M:

God sorry Whooda. Much love.
  6:59pm LovecraftDude888:

oh yeah Honor Blackman was Hera...that movie rocks
  7:00pm LovecraftDude888:

she was a judo champ too..heehee
Avatar 7:01pm dale:

cool!
  7:01pm SeanG:

Rage against the dying of the light, Clay
Avatar 7:06pm dk50b:

Clay, depending what you call "rock" the guitar free teen lets's party/have sex/break up top 40 of years past finally has some songs with guitars or music that ain't pop. Say what you will about Imagine Dragons, Of Monsters and Men. Capital Cities, AWOLNATION, American Authors, Bastille and many others, but it's the most diverse top 40 in years. It's not Pantera or Pratt, but even hair bands had to do sappy power ballads to cash in. Thanks to commercial radio's format rigidity, the days of 70s all over the map top 40 will never return.
