@Kenzo - My son found Hamburger Mario on the web somewhere and made a picture of it with virtual Legos. Your avatar is like an extreme close-up; I see atoms flitting about.

When I see musicians under 35 I'm often disappointed.
Maybe cuz I can always hear which original things they're recycling with insufficient inspiration

Are The Dirtbombs under 35? Probably not. Or borderline?

- the mode of Consumption - the Medium has gradually shifted: everybody knows it's Trash - but it only has to keep your attention for a Second - & then there's more instantly delivered - w/ Visuals - something else to replace it - instantly. Scandal becomes part of the Marketing Strategy - >>Music is actually completely incidental.<<
...As Peter Buck said: I thot w/ Dylan - &tc. - Meaning had been put into it, & surplanted Las Vegas for good - but Las Vegas came back !!
Even this - w/ Playlists & Comment Community...

P-90: I think i'm lucky. When i lived in nj it was nearly impossible to see a good live band-prob not because there were none, but cuz there were few good venues.Even in nyc 95% of the time the unknown-to-me bands i'd see were recycled poseur crap. But there's apparently a creative momentum were i live. (i shant say where..."upstate-ish")

  11:40pm LovecraftDude888:

one band I can't make up my mind about is Ladytron.....had massive high hopes for them, I like them but they still don't really bowl me over. I like much of their music....at least most of it

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43pm Harry Cataracts:

Jesus H. Christ, I am trying to register here, to add some youth, and those dern password code thingys! Oh man not like the old days when we could get stoned and mail a freakin letter and stop at the seven eleven on he way to mail it...to get youthful snacks!!
  11:43pm JakeGould:

You know what the theme song for the playlist now? “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!”
  11:43pm LovecraftDude888:

yeah RR that's utterly true, minus maybe some smaller labels still. Stuff like Mode Records....etc. cottage labels
Avatar 11:44pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@Harry: Mail me some youthful snacks and I'll throw you a code over the fence.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm pacific standard simon:

  11:44pm P-90:

@Coelocanth: I know there are some threads of "creative momentum" out there, in like Vermont, Mass, "upstatish" etc. And yeah, you can see those new "recycled poseur crap" type bands EVERY night of the week on Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Letterman too.

  11:45pm LovecraftDude888:

unt, I did
  11:45pm coelacanth:

okay, this isn't terrible. But i would not ever play it of my own accord...At least it's real music;not computer generated melody and autotune. (i mean the Katy Perry.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm Harry Cataracts:

@Kenzo pre-code code please...and are cracker jacks ok?
  11:47pm LovecraftDude888:

Joss Stone is actually good. There's some good new artists with substance in the RandB and Soul pop arenas but I dunno, so few that really stand out nowadays. John Legend..he might be ok
Avatar 11:48pm Pseu Braun:

PAcific Standard, I have a job to do and you're clearly new to my worksite. Everyone else here, as you cuddle with your Bee Gees, Beatles, Phil Spector, and monster influential fave bands, JUST REMEMBER they ALL came out of some factory. Artists and producers represented here are no less talented in what they do - it's SHOW BIZ, folks. Don't pull out your faux hip gear it's hypocritical...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm Cory:

Lovecraft, that can be said for the entire history of music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- those bands get on Letterman &tc. after *one* trendy hit, & no experience - to pay dues, The Beatles played eight hours every night in Hamburg & lived off of beer cornflakes & speed - & it shows...Fashion supersedes Statement - which - yeah - has always happened in Pop
- but fer one hot Minute once upon a time - Pop & Art got frisky w/ each other...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm Santos L Halper:

Well, psomebody had to psay it psimon : )
  11:48pm LovecraftDude888:

plus, when you witness Roxy Music deliver such a show live NOW, I can't really get into a lot of this stuff. Doesn't even compare to that total genius artistry but of course to most kids that's ancient music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Justin Bieber apparently trying hard to wash out these days, it seems.
  11:49pm LovecraftDude888:

Bauhaus did not come out of a factory except maybe a Wolverhampton one? Bee Gees..err maybe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm Santos L Halper:

Not that i might not also prefer Psionic Psunspot...ok i'll pstop now
Avatar 11:50pm Pseu Braun:

Also, how is it... COOL to reject/pretend not to hear today's music? How dare anyone generalize that all new hit music is bad???
  11:50pm P-90:

I can listen to some of this top forty...ON Pseu's show, ON FMU. Where it's contextualized like it is tonight. But every time I'm shopping for clothes or food? Yuck.
Avatar 11:51pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@coelacanth: I think Katy Perry is always autotune. Even when not hit-you-over-the-head-with-it autotune.
  11:51pm P-90:

NOW you're talking!
  11:52pm LovecraftDude888:

hey, she could be subjecting us to Seasons in the Sun....fate worse than death
  11:53pm coelacanth:

Really? Is autotune THAT GOOD?..That i couldn't tell? (maybe i should get that!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm Cory:

okay hipsters, have fun hating everything. I'm going to bed. I've got to get up in the morning and make non-artisinal food.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I hate to say it - but Back in the Day - even the Trash was good Trash - now the Trash is just toxic Non-Food. FMU proves that 'nothing new is good' is nonsense - but contempo *Top40* has to prove itself to me @ this point...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Can we get some Jimmy Sturr for the polka category, or did they eliminate that Grammy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm fleep:

I have no standards whatsoever. Play anything.
  11:54pm LovecraftDude888:

me too. Most of it I hear is wretched but some of it I like. I heard Camera Obscura at Borders a few years back and liked it...but they are not really a Top 40 band are they?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm Cory:

have a good night Pseu
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm eastvanhalen:

I have lots of standards, many of them implicitly contradictory. Play anything!
  11:55pm LovecraftDude888:

and then find out later that a lot of people hate them cause they're like some "prefab hipster pop band". cannot win
  11:55pm LovecraftDude888:

I just am waiting for the Peter Lemongello comeback tour!
  11:57pm P-90:

@ RevRab : Pseu is absolutely right, pop ALWAYS came from factories, let's not romanticize the past into total bullshit here.

@Coelacanth: Yeah, there's Autotune that you're supposed to hear, like an obvious "effect", and there's the sneaky, subtle Autotune that just cleans up poor singing.
  11:58pm LovecraftDude888:

it does? then how does a band like XTC come about?I don't get it..or do you mean just the slickest most commercial pop?
  11:59pm coelacanth:

That Paul McCroakey track wasn't bad at all, either
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am Ken From Hyde Park:
