Avatar 3:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Scott Williams:

sorry folks, rough set for requests - the whole playlist I prepared in advance has gone apeshit, so I'm scrambling just to get the stuff I was ready for
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Parq:

Rough, Scott. Hang in there. For what it's worth, it sounds great from this end.
Avatar 3:43pm glenn:

that's true. resonating frequency / sympathetic vibration. it only happens with a suspension type bridge, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Scott Williams:

Thanks Parq! ...and plus also the EAS unit keeps spitting out all these storm warnings. Hey, y'all know it's gonna be snowing a lot in NY/NJ real soon? Tellya all about it in a sec...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Mike East:

I haven't been there myself, but my buddy's are always ragging on me cuz I guess its something of a rite of passage for North Jerseyans. One of many that I've missed out on. I'll get there one of these days.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Ike:

@Mike East, I've heard bad things about Rutt's Hut in recent years, so that's put me off trying it even though I live just a few miles away. But then I am not all that into hot dogs anyway, nor do I go anywhere just for the dubious appeal of an allegedly entertainingly seedy atmosphere.
  4:22pm LovecraftDude888:

haha...I heard it was pretty gross, actually. I went to Tick Tock Diner again 3 yrs. ago after not having gone in years, maybe a decade or more, it was ...eh. ok.
  4:23pm LovecraftDude888:

just read the Rowe Manse closed in 2003, got killed off due to bankruptcy and competition from new shopping, etc. They made a fortune on all kinds of things...Cabbage patch feckin dolls etc. that place was tacky as hell but fun
Avatar 4:25pm Serpico:

apparently one of my friends got hit on by a russian waiter at tick tock.
  4:27pm LovecraftDude888:

haha! No shocker. It was ok...used to be much better 20 yrs. ago or more. Like most. And then...the hit man thing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Ike:

Yeah, Tick Tock is definitely nothing special. The Schuyler used to be a hidden gem, but I just read it changed hands recently and has reportedly gone downhill, so that's depressing.
Avatar 4:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- now this is an interesting cover as one always thinks of the sound the Electric Prunes got on it & you hear the song here - but then people always hear it as 'too much to drink' anyway...love the insights I'm getting into NJ up heah HewHampshuh reading this...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm Mike East:

I'm a Pompton Queen guy, myself. A bit farther from y'all, but closer to me.
  4:33pm LovecraftDude888:

I've heard the Pompton Queen is a great diner...I never get out that way but I would like to. I just read recent Yelp on Tick Tock it's gotten even worse the past two years apparently. Plus nobody cleans the bathrooms.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Mike East:

Let me know if you make it out here, man. I'll buy you a cuppa coffee.
Avatar 4:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I have to admit - I'm seein' Yelp! as kinda useful @ this point ! - but nobody's written about me @ my werk yet I don't think...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm efd:

That Todd Clark Group was great! Hadn't heard it before.
  4:37pm LovecraftDude888:

ha, thanks man! reading up on it now on Yelp. I review stuff on there for laughs sometimes...as "ye Olde Punk" etc. I skewer places where I gotta. Anyway...I was considering a trip to some bookstore in Morristown NJ soon. But a good hike.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Scott Williams:

EFD, check for the full-length 2-CD set in the library under Todd Tamanend Clark. all over the place & strange, but much very good!
Avatar 4:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I like this 'Ticket' ! It was a heavy rekkid before The Wh♂ even had an album out - & still distinctive...
  4:39pm LovecraftDude888:

haha what a goof. The Frijid Pink version almost! if anyone recalls them...
Avatar 4:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- good call LD888 (snigger)...
  4:41pm LovecraftDude888:

nevermind Morristown is a good deal SW the other way from Pompton..arghh. I wanna go to Old Bookstore there I hear it's great. Meanwhile I'm stuck in Port Washout here for the time being...weather or just lack of energy.
Avatar 4:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...better than the Vanilla Fudge version (not that I hate it)...
  4:42pm LovecraftDude888:

I only know Frijid Pink from WNEW or etc. playing them years and years ago...I was like who the hell is FP? was like the acid fuzz version of House o the rising sun
Avatar 4:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah, I had an older brother so I was exposed to a lot of stuff...now they're considered Proto-StonerMetal...
  4:43pm LovecraftDude888:

and then once in NJ at Two Guys or whatever I one thought Music From Big Pink was a Floyd album. Oh youth
  4:44pm LovecraftDude888:

as indeed, it was proto stoner metal, heavy but fuzzed out. I don't think FP made it real big
Avatar 4:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I dunno ! Back then stuff like that could Chart a little!...
Avatar 4:46pm glenn:

huh. i wonder how big pink anderson really was.
  4:48pm LovecraftDude888:

ha yeah! Imagine had I bought M From Big Pink then and brought it home...hey this don't sound like Dark Side...another disillusioned consumer jr. high schooler
  4:49pm LovecraftDude888:

I mean I think I read that Frij. Pink didn't go massive but they had some airplay at that time
Avatar 4:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

"House of the Rising Sun" / "Drivin' Blues" (Parrot 341) 1969; No. 7 on Billboard Hot 100 (February 1970), No. 3 in Canada, No. 1 in Germany, No. 4 in UK[2]
...I'd rather hear 'Tell Me Why' by them - always the contrarian...
  4:49pm LovecraftDude888:

heehee! Did better than I would have thought.
  4:50pm Don Piano:

Why I... Detroit techno whoa.
Avatar 4:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- tastes when young & what one stumbles on is an interesting topic...actually - it doesn't really stop - does it - ??...
Avatar 5:08pm Serpico:

it started with Pink Floyd, with me thinking they were the most bizarre, edgy "classic rock" band. then from there i learned about lesser known bands and how truly amazing they were/are. such a shame that they're so many goods bands/musicians out there, yet there not very well known, while the mainstreamers listen to the same music that's been recycled, just with a new face, and think it's the "best."
Avatar 5:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 5:16pm Serpico:

@Revolution Rabbit Nov63 i know, it sucks :( sad thing is it's difficult to convince people used to the generic, that alternative music provides so much more.
  5:16pm LovecraftDude888:

but god commercial radio in NY....worse than ever. I'd even take the old WKTU back over most of the garbage out there now
Avatar 5:21pm Serpico:

it sickens me to no end how z100 remains the most popular station in the new york area. they've perfected brainwashing to the tee.
  5:24pm LovecraftDude888:

is it still? I guess that figures. Been like that for ages. I have not much more use for 104.3 and such..so stuck in corporate hell same programming again and again. Awful! All I know is rock radio in NYC was at least a bit diverse from the 70s-late 80s, after that....yuk
