I have been awake all godamned night. Past few nights. I must have a severe case of insomnia. A terrible thing to have. All alone all night long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am
Liz Berg:

Ugh, sounds awful, GMM! Hope tonight is better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am
fred:

Does Takanakuy feature Oso El Roto? The voice is familiar
  10:06am
LovecraftDude888:

GMMM I once had a 3 day bout of insomnia in college in early 1990s that was a feckin doozy....I thought I was gonna end up in loony bin. I think it was from stress at the time....after a breakup with gf or something. or all sorts of things.
  10:06am
LovecraftDude888:

often just anxiety can do that! Caffeine at night, also bad.
  10:09am
LovecraftDude888:

just play Peter Murphy All Night Long and you will feel better about it..heehee "then i hear you list. to WFMU....all night long"

Yair Yona:

Hi everyone!

Thank you Liz for playing S&C.
This Matt Baldwin track is wonderful, so it the entire album. Imaginary Psychology, was reissued first by fellow Farthest Southern Yair Etiozny, in his label False Industries, and that release contains some interesting remix versions (mine included) false-ind.com...

i've had insomnia on and off for 20 years. it blows dead bears.
Avatar 10:10am

...loving this Matt Baldwin - reminds me - a little bit - of Durutti Column stuff on the guitar & such...
  10:11am
LovecraftDude888:

I never ever took a single sleeping pill, not even that time.....never believed in it and was terrified of it
Avatar 10:11am
Green Mountain Man Mark:

ever since I got on these bipolar meds I have not wanted caffiene. But I go crazy if I don't take them.
Avatar 10:12am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...w/ a sprinkling of 'Electric Ladyland' on top...& Jimi advises watch the sleeping pills too...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am
Liz Berg:

Does exercise help with the insomnia?
  10:15am
LovecraftDude888:

yeah the sleeping pills are bad unless the MD prescribes 'em and take me absurdly to the book. I am totally straight-edge now...after having been on some meds. a few years ago, I don't drink alcohol, no nothing....and limit caffeine but I drink caffeine only during the day generally, as much as I can help it.
Exercise,..very good, but don't do it too much at night was what I've been told!! Could keep you up!
  10:15am
LovecraftDude888:

I meant take em by the book! arghh
Avatar 10:16am
glenn:

it depends. like lovecraft says, too much exercise and night can actually keep you awake.
Avatar 10:16am
glenn:

just smoke weed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am
Liz Berg:

Thanks for the links to the remixes, Yair! Gotta check those out later.
  10:16am
LovecraftDude888:

I was told walks and exercise working out daytime or no later
than early evening...and 2 hrs. or so after big meals
  10:17am
LovecraftDude888:

I find if I do walks treadmill whatever during day, and active, I usually sleep fine but no caffeine at night. or not a lot.
  10:18am
LovecraftDude888:

and no speed! kidding....

Avatar 10:18am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I love caffeine - really love it - but it's creeper: you don't realize how long you stay effected hours afterwords. How do I wake up & werk for a living w/out it though? Green Tea is a superfood - but you have to drink a whole pot of it to get as much caff as coffee...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18am
Guido (Cologne):

Also dig Matt Baldwin ... similar to manuel Göttsching solo period Ashra (1976-1978) in my impression.
  10:19am
LovecraftDude888:

I also gave up soda for the most part....that stuff was packing on the pounds for me and was awful for stomach

I've never had serious insomnia, but I am an incorrigible night owl. But I find that after a long hike, I'm more inclined to choose to hit the sack at a reasonable hour... like midnight. Long walks help a bit too.

Melatonin for sleep - it's an actual hormone:The herbal stuff is beneficial & generally safe (if you turn out to be allergic - forget it was me who told ya about it) - but too weak when you're really insomniac - @ least for me. The melatonin works - but I can't just take something 20 minutes before I wanna sleep & have it work like it's supposed to...w/ my nervous metabolism - I gotta wait a day or more before it accumulates in me...
